I had the same problem, i really wanted to learn guitar (electric) badly, but people told me to get good on acoustics first. Being a teen at that time i was easily influenced and bought second hand acoustic. I dropped learning guitar in a week and didn't took it for next couple years. Than i watched "Bochi the rock" anime, and remembered i wanted to learn electrical guitar, and i actually bought it, and i was very happy! It was a year now, and i play everyday, and got relatively good. Point is - get what you want! Electrical/acoustic it is still guitar, with same notes on the fingerboard. So just play whatever you really want. Besides - nowadays electric guitars is not that expensive, really, you can get pretty good quality dor relatively low price. P.S 30 day of asking for tutorial for "Rose - Anna Tsuchiya" .♥.
I swear i hate those people "get good on classical first then you can switch to acoustic." " Play acoustic first then electric" it doesnt even make sense theyre almost the same except for the sound. They act like they know everything when they don't. To anyone who is reading this and wants an acoustic or electric one get whatever you want.
UNCLE STU UNCLE STU UNCLE STU!!!!!! I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on “see you later, I’m gone” by Robert Lester Folsom!! I can’t find a tutorial anywhere and love your tutorials so much!!
Everyone debating whether you should start on acoustic or electric while i started on a classical 😭 but im getting an electric guitar soon i cant wait!!
I would humbly add that, while being the same instrument, they actually are not. I am an old(er) beginner, started at 49 - playing for a little less than 2 years. I am making good progress as I practice almost daily (thank you uncle Stuart for some amazing tutorials!). My progress is almost all on the acoustic, where I first started. More than a year ago I tried the electric and could not start to make it sound right! All of the knobs, switches… too complicated. But the worst thing for me was the not appropriate muting, the strings were constantly making all sort of noises. I still havent’ managed to learn it, but I play acoustic 99% of the time. Anyway thank you for another great video! I do support the basic music theory for beginners by uncle Stuart!
Also with electric.....and acustics with pickups......you can get little headphone amps before investing in big speaker amps. Dsp makes dabbling in other sonic ponds so much less expensive. Thank you for your vibes, so nice having a guitar mentor who is not bro shilling.
As a new guitarist I bought a cheap 100$ Rogue RA from guitar center with no case. I purposely left it out in my room laying against my dresser so I could just pick it up and play. I knew as soon as I were to put it in a case I'd NEVER take it out again A year and a half later I now have two 6 strings, an acoustic bass, a 12 string and an electric. It gets addicting very fast. 😅
Unc Stuart, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you do a Right before my eyes by Cage the Elephant tutorial? I love your videos and you are the reason why im doing a real progress on guitar and music right now, tomorrow is my birthday so could you give as a birthday present? Thanks and hugs from Brazil
hi unc Stuart!, I think I’d say buying an acoustic electric guitar is the best option, because it’s an acoustic you can plug in and buy pedals for to make it sound like an electric! ps: can you do a tutorial on “should we tell him” by the everly brothers if you get around to it? thanks xx
yeah, acoustic first. learning on electric IS more forgiving, but going from acoustic to electric is like taking the weighted donut off the bat. starting to do bends seems easier than when i tried before. but both do have their advantages. need an acoustic to play with your legs dangling off the cliff of a flying windmill island. need an electric if youre going to plug into a giant amp thatll throw you across the room before you go back in time. switching it up is fun. ray allen tweet.
I had to sell both my electric and acoustic 3 years ago, i really want an electric but im getting an acoustic because i just want a guitar in my hands. Money is limited and I cant wait anymore
I agree about acoustic and buying less stuff someone commented. Also much easier to take with you. If you are small get a taylor gs mini or the martin equivalent. (Even if you are big, they are fun to play and relatively cheap) Stuart I love your videos and playing but with your inner metal god attack i'm wondering how often you change strings
your revstar looks cool. i feel prs guitars are dorkier than strats. do you like the sgs or archtops designs? remember wanting a dean or wasburn for like a month? haha. still want a flying v tho.
Classical guitars are just for different types of music (classical, bossa nova, flamengo, etc.) with a different style of play. When I got my first steel string after previously only playing classical, it also felt quite uncomfortable. So I’d say it doesn‘t even make much sense to compare them with the same standards. Like of course classical sounds kinda dumb when you‘re playing Nirvanna or Radiohead. If you wanna play classical, take a classical, if you wanna play folk, blues, pop (basically american), just get a steel string or electric.
i really want an electric, but i don’t know where to start. can anyone recommend like a good starter: guitar, amp, and all the accessories i may need. i am just scared that i will buy things that wont be good enough.
i got a used peavey from a antique mall, paid for strings and neck correction at my local guitar store, ordered the orange 35rt combo amp (they look cool, cheaper combo amp that still has effects, and i like the sound), and a blue spiral fender connection cord. easy peasy, i’ve been having fun playing. hope that’s a good start to your search!
Get that Yamaha acoustic, and spend 75 bucks on a good setup. Then start saving your $$$, keep practicing EVERY DAY and at 6 months reward yourself with an electric guitar. Problem solved.
Unc Stuart, can you do basic music theory for beginners?
yes i love this idea :D
PLLEAAASSWEEE

bocchi may have influenced me as well
I bought an acoustic last year on xmas day, its almost a year and i probably used it less than a month if you compiled all the times i used it

For absolute beginners, I'd recommend an acoustic just because you have to buy less stuff.
All else being equal, I agree with this sentiment
Also imo the finger strength is nice
@Red-zj2hr the pain is VERY real but it's such a game changer T_T
Uncle stuart you have literally changed my life. Thank you for being you man. You genuinely make my day everyday.
You are the only guitar UA-camr I find bearable to watch. If you started a music theory course oh boy would I become the best guitarist there ever was

A screenshot from today’s video used as the thumbnail for yesterdays? You’re breaking the matrix Stuart.
You are going to make a great detective someday. I was wondering if anyone would notice that.
@@marinmusic well I watched both videos back-to-back so that probably helped
I love that classical isn’t even an option, I’m not a fan cuz it feels like there’s an inch between the strings and the fretboard
i also hate classical guitars
Oh so now an inch is considered a lot BUT WHEN I
