    Idk why, but I just love this video. Its satisfying seeing a fixed blade used in real life situations out side of bushcraft and survival.

      @@Zeph_ I've also had may fails from folding knives, so I searched, for the perfect every day fixed blade and from all the knives I used, the Manly Patriot became my Urban everyday knife and the Morakniv Eldris for the outdoors, hiking working in the field etc! Both are some of the best small knives out there, wthout having any negatives or flaws on their design! Fixed blades are far far superior, to any folding knife on everything! The perform way better, they can do way more and they are way safer. No matter how much a folder costs, there is no comparison!
      I repair and maintain any kind of knives, mainly outdoor, Hunting, Butchers and Chef's/cooks knives, for 25 years know. In the same time, I own high quality Customs, Semi Custom like TRC Knives etc, However, Manly Patriot and my Morakniv, are the knives I've used the most by far!!! That's not because they are cheaper, but for the other reasons and they are many! Whoever uses those knives, knows what I mean...

    It just arrived my second Eldris... If this is going to be more budget-friendly, they'll be my choice knife for light hiking systems.
    Morakniv, you'll be forever my knife company of choice.

    I carry an Eldris in my pocket for messy jobs as shown in the video. I have 5 of the critters by now.. I just put them in the various jackets and coats I have.

    It's a simplified blade profile, and looking at the video a polished rather than brushed finish. Blade thickness is the same I believe.
    Presumably that will translate into a more economical price.

    Morakniv can we can update on this model with the sheath also including a belt loop for everyday carry? Such a great knife just wish I could carry and easily holster/unholster while on my person.

    What's the difference of the regular eldris I have the original

    • @thomasmaloney843
      @thomasmaloney843 3 роки тому +1

      Light duty is full scandi with rounded spine. Regular is compound grind with sharp spine.

  • @thepenultimateninja5797
    @thepenultimateninja5797 3 роки тому +1

    I don't understand why this is called the Light Duty when the plain Scandi grind would actually make the blade stronger than the compound grind of the standard Eldris.
    Is there a hidden difference that we can't see that makes it less strong than the original Eldris? A shorter tang maybe?

    • @thomaseriksson9942

      We made the Eldris Light Duty with less production cost to be able to reduce price for the end consumer. No spine griding (no sharp spine corners for the fire starter), no extra grindig at the tip, buffing instead of side grinding and honing, no two tone colour handle, less packing options (no cardboard box with colour print available, just in 15-display or blister-pinpac,). All other specs are identical with the previous Eldris (same steel, tang, heat treatment, polymers in handle and sheath). We discussed to make it even more basic by not haveing TPE-polymer for the friction grip (like the Basic 511) but finally decided to keep the more expensive friction grip.

      @@thomaseriksson9942 Thanks for the explanation. I went with the standard Eldris in the end because I liked the orange color. I would have preferred the blade style of the Light Duty though. Do you have plans to release more colors in the Light Duty range in the future? Orange is a useful color to have for emergency kits etc.

      Yeah. The Mora 122 is a carving knife which has a blade like that, but I hate its sheath. If I drop the sheath on the ground, the sharp knife flies straight out.

      Lepiej żeby szanowane przedsiębiorstwo handlowe trzymało się z dala od większości spraw obyczajowo politycznych ;). Robią dobre noże i tyle.
      It's better for a respectable commercial company to stay out of most social and political matters ;). They make good knives and that's it.
