    I made my first sorbet last night. I used fresh mango and fresh pineapple, Just cut it all up, blended it, then poured it into a baking sheet and froze that. Then after it was frozen I smashed it up and blended it again. It turned out perfect!

      Seriously, the raspberry had me wanting to lick my monitor screen.
      You did one on ice cream. I suggest broken up chocolate chip cookies, especially if you made the cookies and they've lasted long enough to get a bit stale. Cookies with pecans.

    Ok, take away lessons:
    1) I can make my own dairy free condensed milk for these
    2) I the condensed milk is mainly to keep it from forming ice crystals, but if I use an ice cream maker then that doesn't matter
    3) Basically, any fruit can be frozen and added to my processor with condensed milk (dairy or not) and it will make these sorbets.
    4) Big argument among users as to whether this classifies as sorbet or sherbet.
    Got it. :)

I didn't have a lime for zest so I used about an ounce or so of lime juice along with the sweetened condensed milk and it worked just as good. Hint of lime doesn't overpower the watermelon. I don't have a food processor so I used a blender and it worked real well.

    Recipe:
    Ingredients:
    1 lb frozen fruit ( strawberry, blueberry, banana, etc. )
    1/4 cup of honey
    Procedure:
    1. Add frozen fruit and honey into a food processor or blender.
    2. Pulse a few times
    3. Put mixture into a big ice cream container ( the ones you see in the store )
    4. Freeze 1 hour or more
    5. If its hard to scoop dip ice cream scoop on luke warm water then scoop.
    6. Top with favorite toppings and enjoy! 🙂🍧🍓🍐🍇🍌🍦

    is there a substitute for the sweetened condensed milk?

    • @rosepetal5312
      @rosepetal5312 5 років тому +3

      Yes: honey, agave nectar, almond milk (vanilla or original), coconut milk, or any other thicker sweetener.
      Though, if you want REAL sorbet (which has NO dairy), then don’t use milk at all. If you want sherbet, which is what she’s _really_ making, then use milk or the substitutes listed above. :)

    I don't have frosen fruit
    Sorry for my English I'm Estonian

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  7 років тому +1

      The problem is that fresh fruit, when it is pureed, makes for a very liquid ingredient. Liquids freeze like ice, and the sorbet will be icy. Frozen fruit suspends the ice crystals, and gives a creamy result. You can freeze your fruit, if you have access to a freezer. cut, lay in a single layer on a tray, cover, and freeze. It is good to have you with us in Estonia, your English is just fine :)
