Seriously, the raspberry had me wanting to lick my monitor screen.
You did one on ice cream. I suggest broken up chocolate chip cookies, especially if you made the cookies and they've lasted long enough to get a bit stale. Cookies with pecans.

I made my first sorbet last night. I used fresh mango and fresh pineapple, Just cut it all up, blended it, then poured it into a baking sheet and froze that. Then after it was frozen I smashed it up and blended it again. It turned out perfect!

    Ok, take away lessons:
    1) I can make my own dairy free condensed milk for these
    2) I the condensed milk is mainly to keep it from forming ice crystals, but if I use an ice cream maker then that doesn't matter
    3) Basically, any fruit can be frozen and added to my processor with condensed milk (dairy or not) and it will make these sorbets.
    4) Big argument among users as to whether this classifies as sorbet or sherbet.
    Got it. :)

Thank you for your reply, Gemma ---- the sorbet is a new summer favorite. I had frozen strawberries on hand, so that is what I've been using. I also put in a splash of lemon juice for a "strawberry lemonade" flavor...it is so good!

Hi Gemma Stafford! These sorbets look soooo good! I am not allowed to make it cuz my mom wont let me. Me and my mom are amateur bakers btw. The combination of strawberries and limes is so genius! I have a recipe of sorbet i got from the internet and its also 2 ingredient sorbets!
    Recipe:
    Ingredients:
1 lb frozen fruit ( strawberry, blueberry, banana, etc. )
    1/4 cup of honey
    Procedure:
    1. Add frozen fruit and honey into a food processor or blender.
    2. Pulse a few times
    3. Put mixture into a big ice cream container ( the ones you see in the store )
    4. Freeze 1 hour or more
    5. If its hard to scoop dip ice cream scoop on luke warm water then scoop.
    6. Top with favorite toppings and enjoy! 🙂🍧🍓🍐🍇🍌🍦

is there a substitute for the sweetened condensed milk?

    • @rosepetal5312
      @rosepetal5312 4 роки тому +3

Yes: honey, agave nectar, almond milk (vanilla or original), coconut milk, or any other thicker sweetener.
Though, if you want REAL sorbet (which has NO dairy), then don’t use milk at all. If you want sherbet, which is what she’s _really_ making, then use milk or the substitutes listed above. :)

  • @bob26873

Hi guys, i replaced the condensed milk with banana - of cause you could use honey and a little water/ice (depending on thickness). Just make sure your banana tastes good before using it - ie ripe.

tauresa ttauresa Sorry to hear this! But if you want to enjoy this you could use a dairy free condensed milk. Or if you don't want to do that some stores sells these pills that you take before having dairy. I use to be unable to have dairy as a child!

Hi Gemma, I just found your channel a couple of days ago and LOVE your vegan recipes, and I'd like to make one of these, but I don't drink or use any dairy ... Can you do a recipe for a banana mango ice cream and a sorbet one too?

Hi there Jeannine, You can of course make a banana only ice cream, and it delivers great sweetness to other fruits. Just blend the banana really well, choose a ripe, just ready to eat banana, and add the other fruits, experiment, and let us know! :)
