Razor weren't your average 2nd rate Metallica or Slayer band which the 80's was rife with. They had their own path of mixing the raw punk-rock n roll swagger of Motorhead with the cutthroat delivery of Thrash with inspired vocals and songwriting. One of the best bands of the 80's and a great choice for a Mythos.

"Good songs withstand the rigors of sub par production." I will never forget this statement. I will never forget your passion. Somehow, it seems as if you stand above all the musicians who have ever inspired me. For this, I shall be ever grateful. I promise that, one day, I shall give birth to at least one song that you shall truly enjoy.
Fantastic coverage of one of the most criminally underrated band of the golden age of thrash metal. The nitroglycerin trio of Evil Invaders, Violent Restitution and Shotgun Justice have a replay value of the nth degree, although as great they are I still preserve the "finest moment in thrash" title to Heathen's Victims of Deception or Demoliton Hammer's Epidemic of Violence. And since we mentioned Motörhead a number of times, I hope one day New York's finest destroyers, Overkill will get the Mythos treatment.
I got Shotgun Justice after seeing it in your Metal Gate rant video. It's fucking awesome. Thanks! I hope that W.A.S.P.'s Metal Mythos makes it in your 2016 schedule!
As a Guelph, Ontario native, it saddens me to find that nobody here has an iota of a clue about one of the best Thrash metal bands to have ever walked this earth. Gonna have to educate a lot more people via this Mythos before the day is done. Hats off once again, Razorfist!
Indeed. These guys didn't jump the pond and, at least in the European Corner I come from, were completely unknown. This is what I like of his series. Well this and when he reviews 80's films.
I didn't find Razor due to Mythos. I was looking up the latest Thief game and saw his vid on it. Been a fan since. I only have 1 album from all the Mythos combined. It's a Maiden one.
Nah. Of all the albums @Razorfist has reviewed in these mythos Danzig II: Lucifuge or Motörhead 1916 are the ones I might try. Blues metal is a genre I am thinking about trying.
I also suggest Black Sabbath's Seventh Star if you want some unique, heavy blues metal. Motorhead's Overkill and Bomber are also prime blues metal offerings. Deep Purple is also required listening for any blues aficionado.
Got to see Razor play a 1985 only set a few years ago in Montreal, they ended up playing Evil Invaders front to back. Hands down one of the the best concerts I've ever seen
i reccomended the Evil invaders album to my work friend. the next day he tells me that his "brain is still rattling from listening to that album last night" mission accomplished
i remember back when I met my best friend at my last job, he had no idea who Razor was. He's a huge metal maniac like I am, so I introduced him to Razor and he loved it. Now he plays them all the time.
I feel like a bad Canadian. Not only am I a metalhead but I never heard of this band. Thankfully because of your review I have discovered them and they kick ass! Canada has never had many good heavy metal bands. When you look across the ocean to smaller cold nations like Sweden, Finland, Norway and Switzerland they have been pumping out killer hard rock and metal bands for decades but Canada, it just does not exist. At least now we have razor to lay our hats on.
This metal mythos sounded like you talking in the third person for half an hour xD. But seriously never heard of this band but one of my favorite Metal Mythos so far :)
I know this is a 4 yr old comment but use it as an opportunity to go to Spotify or something and discover one of the most underrated thrash bands who at their height were on par with the big 4 and with Overkill, Testament, etc.
on Favorite Canadian band, we differ, as I am VERY much into Voivod, but Razor is fucking great. and as far as Carlo's bitch-fit about America's Thrash Scene, didn't seem to slow Voivod, or Annihilator down one fucking bit. Guess that argument doesn't hold water for fucking shit.
Well... now they released a new album as of August 2022 called "Cycle of Contempt" I'd like to think this UA-cam documentary had some part in pushing them to make a new album. I'm in total shock and excited to hear the album in its entirety. I've been listening to Razor since 2006 but took my time to hear later albums in the span of several years since it seemed unlikely they'd release new material. I'm glad I was wrong about that assumption. Now I can relax and just enjoy the rage I've enjoyed many years before. I think we owe a lot of thanks and gratitude to Dave Carlo for getting something done and released this far into the future. \m/
Unfortunately that album wasn't a good comeback; the production is weird, with bad mixing and lackluster vocal performance. The only redeeming factor is decent riffs here and there but even those aren't quite up to par.
I like it, solid, got what I like in Thrash, chugging guitars, galloping drums - sounds like they are having fun and still being sincere about their love of the music. @@Chicky_Lumps

Another great vid once again. The fact that Razorfist provides this kind of quality, consistently + regularly is just great. Free, interesting and entertaining content, better than most pay or subscription services. Razorfist Sir, I salute you.
These videos are great, but I wouldn't say he puts them out consistently. The last Metal Mythos was in January, which is unfortunately the longest we've had to wait between Mythos videos. Razorfist doesn't owe us these videos, so I'm not complaining, I'm just saying it's not accurate to say that he pumps these out regularly.
Tommy the Hideous If I remember correctly he also stated that he didn't like the viking metal part of Bathory's discography so don't mind me if I happen to be a tad concerned.
Razor was not too bright about their touring.... just about all successful Canadian bands had to leave Canada to find fame. Sad but true, most of us Canuks do not support local talent. Personally, I try to support local bands.
They knew what they were singing about could get them in trouble with US Authorities so didn't I think,Evil Invaders is very obviously about Biker Gangs, and in a way that maybe reads as Razor having some form of involvement with them.
Voivod is in some ways a similar band and did very very well with touring, and US Audiances overall. Maybe not as well known a Household Name as in French Speaking Canada but at least Anthrax levels of US Popularity, appearing on MTV and regularly selling 40,000 copies an album worldwide throughout the 80s.
@@WocklessGamingforAnimeMoms The metal scene in Quebec was completely different than the one in the rest of Canada during the 1980s. Quebec based bands had better resources (ie. a stronger connection to the European scene). It helped Voivod get more exposure at that time.
@@WocklessGamingforAnimeMoms What? You do realize that Slayer "got away with" Angel of Death (about the dang holocaust) in 1986? I mean it technically had to be released on a smaller label because the big labels wouldn't touch it, but the band never was in danger of being arrested or anything (America also has much more expansive free speech laws than other countries).
Watching Metal Mythos has exposed me to the entire genre of metal, oddly enough, after Metallica being my favorite act for the last 20 years. This is 100% the closest thing I've ever heard to Metallica, and I love it! The next trip to the record still will most definitely include a Razor record.
The opener "The Marshall Arts" is one of the greatest intro/instrumentals in metal history PERIOD! I can personally attest to tormenting beach goers in Texas in the late eighties with my crappy Jensen 6x9's in a box. The scream definitely got peoples attention lol.
Razor are one of the most aggessive and constantly brutal thrash bands to never get enough credit. Even Exodus had a few slow songs (cajun hell, like father like son etc) but every Razor song i've heard (didnt listen to their first album much) has been nasty and really fast. Also nice to see Raven mentioned. Their song "Ya Got A Screw Loose," is f***ing awesome

Scott Vankeuren canada has a nasty tendency to eat their young when it comes to music.
Id love to see a metal mythos on Blue Öyster Cult.
Ah, a preparing myself for a good Grilled Cheese Sandwich episode of metal mythos
sick review , malicious intent review was spot on !
That album is mediocre, you high?
Watching Metal Mythos has exposed me to the entire genre of metal, oddly enough, after Metallica being my favorite act for the last 20 years. This is 100% the closest thing I've ever heard to Metallica, and I love it! The next trip to the record still will most definitely include a Razor record.
man that was the most awesome comb over of Razor's discography...nicely fucking done!!!
Razorfist
another great episode in the pantheon. Ive really been missing the metal mythos keep cranking them out.
I've never heard of these bands until now but I enjoy RF talking about it. Passion.
That's what I love about thrash, young pissed guys just grabbing a guitar and going for it
The first album I heard from Razor was Evil Invaders. I heard Cut Throat and loved it. Its still my favorite by them.
Hey Razorfist thanks for mentioning this band. I never knew this band existed till I saw this video. More metal/music mithos please.
I’m gonna buy some Razor albums now. We need a Voivod mythos now
Great job on the video! It always excites me to watch a new mythos!
I was once hipped to A Band RAZOR!!!! thank you mr. RAGE
thanks for bringing these guys up. I know what i'm gonna crank in the car tonight!!
True North Strong and LOUD
Please do a Mythos for KISS! The ranting will be gold
I always liked Executioners song, I got a patch of it on my battle jacket.
What's with the copy of the Wicther 3? I thought you were boycotting the series.
Got it from a friend, most likely RPGMinx
Whats your problem with Skull Fist, eh?
Sheepdog was an awesome vocalist!
