  • How to spend a rare sunny day in England? Strawberry picking of course! We ventured out to a PYO strawberry patch where they had fruit fields for days! Blackcurrants, Redcurrants, gooseberries, raspberries, and of course several different kinds of strawberries. We had a great time filling up out basket and enjoying some sunshine!

We love checking out local farms! I think it’s one of the best parts about living in the countryside. There are so many farms and you can get so much fresh produce.

That's why strawberries are linked with the Wimbledon tennis tournament, because Wimbledon is during strawberry picking season

In Malta we pick strawberries in May. We have a strawberry fair in the village of Mgarr each year.

This can be a very dangerous thing to do especially if you love strawberries. I remember doing this is a young child when we lived in Kent and I think more went into us during the day than actually went into the buckets lol

I use to love Strawberry picking as a young lad with my mum and dad, we ate most of them as we were picking them :)
We've had such a dry summer though, I haven't had any rain where I live for about 7 weeks.

An apochrycal tale used to be that the farmer weighed you IN, and then again on the way OUT and charged for the difference!

What did one strawberry say to the other strawberry?
A: If you weren’t so sweet, we wouldn’t be in this jam.🤣

Brilliant looking strawberries! I just just 300g from M&S for £4.50! With some extra thick double cream! 😋

The whole point of PYO is that you eat half of them on the way round!

Rare sunny day ! We have just had months of drought, with a top temperature of 104f!and
several unbroken weeks at 40 centigrade !
How more more do you want !
By the way, those strawberries are NO WAY ready to eat, they need to be dark red all over !

Reminds of the joke about the blonde taking her driving test and the instructor asks her "what's the most common road sign?" And she answers "pick your strawberries" 😂

That's actually an almost true story.
I was a Driving Examiner - retired 7 years ago.
In about 1987 I was working in Birmingham and was finishing off a test with the Highway Code questions. The candidate, a chap in his 20s and not the sharpest knife in the drawer, was asked - "If you were driving along a country road, why types of road signs would you expect to see?"
He answered "Pick your own strawberries ."
We had a good laugh about this in the office afterwards.
I've told this story on several occasions and it would appear that he's morphed into a blonde.

People stuffing themselves then paying for a small boxful is why there aren't as many PYO farms around.

Never eat the strawberry's you pick without washing them, peoples dogs very often have pissed on them.
