Unfortunately inventory is not piling up for a lot of the cars we actually want like Toyota. For example, Toyota Corollas have a 26 day supply according to an April-May 2024 report. Toyota RAV4s have a 31 day supply. Honda Civic has a 38 day supply. Ford Maverick has a 48 day supply. Toyota Sienna has a 23 day supply
I'm curious what the new Tacoma day supply is. They are piling up at some dealerships with discounts sometimes $3,000 below list price. There is an online backlash over its pricing as well. The media influencers and comment sections are full of hyperbole. Maybe Aubrey can shed some unbiased light on the rollout missteps of a very important vehicle for that brand.
@@JamMan6string I'm sure the new Tacoma's day supply is easily double that of the Corolla. Possibly even higher. Few people want to spend that much money for a smaller truck. Toyota has become greedy just like Ford, Stellantis etc.
@@JamMan6stringit's tiny actually. They can't even build the new version bc the factory in Mexico shutdown due to lack of workers and parts. The youtubers who go to Toyota dealerships aren't seeing dozens of them. They see 20 and the sky is falling.

It won't even take that long. By fall , they will be desperate to get rid of leftover models before inventory taxes. Even during the 2022 chip shortage, they dropped the cost of my 2021 from MSRP $39,000 (November 2022) to $32000.
thats been a big issue recently. 'starting at' price has been a lie for a while now. those base models are basically not made anymore. for pickup trucks theyre sold straight to companies, for everything else theres either a waiting list or theyre just not there
You can just buy a cheap salvaged car or $1500+ Lincoln TownCar and list a fake old Ford Focus and tell the guest on the day you have a nicer TownCar instead!

@igornovik3468 I'm not poor. So, saying that I'll stay poor is an assumption. Say something like, I'll stay middle class. Which in the U.S. isn't a bad thing. Also, when you are smart and buy anything at a discount, not just cars, you have essentially invested. If said cars are cool or collectible, you may make a good return on them, AND you enjoyed them. I get that your comment shows that you've listened to basic finance UA-cam videos that say cars are bad investments and don't buy a house, etc. This is just the 101 level. There's levels to everything and phases of life. I'm guessing that you are young and you are at a different level. Or older and fail to realize everyone is different with different goals. That's cool. A lot of people are nice truck or house poor because they stretched. It's a good thing that you are aware of this. You won't make that mistake. I certainly won't. Buy when things are cheap. Sell when they are expensive. That's my unsolicited advice.
Considering current interest rates, the selling price would have to be less than the MSRP on the OEM website vehicle builder, or I wouldn't be interested.
Not marking up cars isn't going on in Canada. They are piling on everything they can. Toyota Canada passed on a government charge of $1.08 to the consumer for buying a particular car, the Toyota Cross. Frankly I was flabbergasted that they would do that. I won't be buying anything from them EVER. I thought I would get a little more specific about the gouging in Ontario . The prices are in Canadian funds. Base price NEVER includes HST ( TAX=13%). MSRP= $27,650. Dealer Fees= $999. Freight & Delivery= $ 1,930. Air conditioning Charge= $100. OMVIC= $12.50 Environmental Handling Fee-Tires=$22.5 Environmental Handling Fee-Filters= $1.08 HST( tax=13%) = $ 3,992.96. Final total = $34,708.04. This is for the BASIC CAR 2024 with no accessories added, none !

Yes, yes yes, we get it. Inventory up manufacturers are panicking and dealerships are not lowering prices. The same shit, different day, same dialogue.
the tacoma cranking up the msrp by 15k is a huge nope for a lot of people, im not suprised theyre hurting after all the price increases.

There are no hybrid Mavericks anywhere.
Toyota also cuts production to keep prices high.
Interest rates/prices and poor build quality is rampant right now.

It's just starting. By the end of 2024, prices should be much better.
Good,
That said, dealers in my area don't stock anything but loaded trucks and give you a vague estimate on time for ordered vehicles.

I wonder what percentage of Stellantis dealerships will go out of business in 3 years?
all of them but they will have new cars to sell for the next 3 or 4 decades

So manufacturers and dealers jacked up MSRPs by 50 percent and now we're supposed to be happy with a five percent discount? Hilarious!
Stellantis (Jeep, Dodge) have a mediocre product with SO. MANY. ISSUES. at luxury pricing. Their cars don't warrant the price.
