To all of the people from 2023 modding. Darnified can be found in Moddb as "Unofficial DarNified UI Update" and doesn't need to install the fonts, is complete. But I can't seem to find the patch for the MCM color menu. Sorry :p

I have only been modding for a few months but learning all the time with your informative videos. Thanks so much for the clear and steady paced explanations as this is where a lot of ppl who do these guides tend to go racing off at a million miles an hour and it can become quite hard to follow their instructions.

Darnified UI, UIO, MCM, and OneHUD are four of my five* essential mods for New Vegas. I cannot start any new game, no matter what other mods I have installed, without these four present. They aren't as big, nor as lauded, as some mods, but for clearing up New Vegas's clunky and horrible UI, they're invaluable.
    *The fifth being Project Nevada.

Some people might not like that he tends to over explain things sometimes. You wouldnt think that in 2020 you'd have to explain how to drag and drop files on a nodding tutorial but, at least in both videos of the series so far, he walks you through how to drag and drop files every time it needs to be done. Things like that will annoy some people.

I kept getting the message that ui+ found an error so what worked for me is after I installed MCM and oHUD I reinstalled ui+ and said yes for it to overwrite all files and that worked as it was supposed to. I have left the load order alone and let the manager fill them in as it will and haven't experienced any problems.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for all the effort. I've been following since 2011 and I can't count the times you've made me cry tears of laughter with your playthroughs. You got me into modding into with Oldrim.
I have been wanting to play FNV again for a while now, but felt a bit rusty modding it. So I watched your new tutorials and followed them to a "T". I prefer using DUI for my HUD, but even though my load order and dependencies are correct, I get a CTD when trying to swap assigned weapons with the keyboard shortcuts. I've disabled and enabled all the mods one at a time. I've reinstalled them. Everything works fine until the Darnified Patch is activated. Then - CTD. Does anyone else have this problem? What am I doing wrong?
Update: OK, I'm officially stupid . Was using an old version of the patch, not the TTW one. Everything's working fine now.

I totally agree about these mods you have covered in this episode being the first mods to install simply because most mods & changes made will be going through or managed by these mods such as mcm & uio, so yes it is best they go first for a more stable game, however i do wrestle with environment mods but even a lot of those are now or have been managed by mcm to.
But it is reassuring to watch a professional going through and showing the process for us lesser modders oh holy modder of modders.

Words cannot say how invaluable this series is to me, I can't go out for obvious reasons and I have wanted to play NV for a long time. Previously when trying to mod the game I have got myself into a right mess and ended up with conflicting mods and a game that kept on crashing. I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to modding as love the results but i get so anxious about doing it.
I have been able to follow your steps to the letter and have actually managed to do this :). I wish I could thank you in some way. Do you have any plans at all to do the same for Skyrim special edition? I

ATTENTION: Hello everyone ! for the mods to work it is important that when we finish installing and then enabling (At the moment we correct any conflict between mods), we deploy it again! otherwise it won't work. It's just a warning to save anger. By the way, fantastic video Gopher, much appreciated.

In the first video I couldnt understood whats wrong with it, it was just strange feeling, now I think I know. Intro song, you start to talk few seconds earlier than you suppose to :)
"There’ll be no weddin' bells for today" - Suppose to during "...for today" part, perhaps even "...bells..." part :)

For those having issues getting MCM to appear in your menu after your game says its been installed, here is what fixed it for me.
Load and install user interface organizer first
load and install One Hud second
    install MCM third
    Install MCM bug fix fourth.

Gopher first of all thank you as usual for the great tutorials!
For anyone having trouble in 2021 with DarnUI and MCM not working together, (or Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus crashing your game when you go into the Weapons screen in the Pip-Boy) a couple of things to watch out for. Essentially kind of cascading faults; you will need to fix a few things.
NVSE - you will run into issues if you use the version on Silverlock, unfortunately. This is due to Unofficial Patch NVSE no longer existing on Nexus. You're going to want xNVSE6.0.6, which is available on github. Don't worry if you've initially installed the Silverlock version. Updating to 6.0.6 is as easy as downloading the 7zip and overwriting the files from Silverlock. Same exact way Gopher showed you in the previous video.
Next, Unofficial Patch NVSE - you will need to replace it with Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus (available on Nexus). HOWEVER - this will crash your game on start-up unless you also get JohnnyGuitar NVSE (available on Nexus). It is at this step that you will find that this mod requires xNVSE6.0.6.
Obvious disclaimer - this worked for me, but your results may vary. Good luck!

Edit/Addition: It appears the above might not be a perfect solution as I seem to be having trouble getting One Hud (OHud) to recognize Darnified UI items. I've tried the various fixes mentioned on google, reddit, etc. with no luck (ex. uninstalling and reinstalling UIO, playing around with different conflict 'winners', etc.). It may just be that xNVSE or the Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus (or JohnnyGuitar NVSE) is causing this; I don't really know. Hope you all have better luck with that one than I did. In any case, I've since made it to the end of Gopher's 3rd video without any additional issues, so I can live with it I think.

@@rjcgy713 nah same issues as me, I realized the latest oHud update was March, with updates for Darn UI as late as october. the best thing to do is fuddle with your load order until it works majorly with oHUD, and hide all the features that dont

@@ArchWizardCj Yes, basically the 'solution' I came up with. For the Darn stuff I can't control with Immersive, I'll just turn it off in Darn if I don't want it. I generally don't play with too much of the extra Darn stuff turned on anyway.

For those who just want to keep it simple, don't want to worry about mod conflicts, and think that the default interface is fine by them, I would recommend to get a Fallout 3 mod called "Larger dialogue menu". It works perfectly for Fallout New Vegas as well. It makes things a lot better for both games to see more dialogue options. No muss, no fuss.

For those of you who have want to use darnified but cannot see the "Mod Configuration" tab on the pause screen:
1: Have MCM set to BEFORE Darnified (not 100% sure if this matters but it worked for me)
2: Go to the PLUGINS tab in Vortex and make sure DarNifiedUINV.esp is Enabled (This was automatically disabled for me)

  • @CharlesSmith-io9fp

I've found you don't need to uninstall, just open the mod conflicts and tell MCM to load before Darnified. It's that simple!
