Silphium was the name of the plant and it only grew in Cyrene due to high rains and rich soil. Doesn't look like hearts though, looks more like a daisy.
The seed pods of similar fennel plants from the region are kinda heart shaped, so some historians do have a theory that they did inspire the modern stylised heart
@@supercool559 The Romans were known to use the "heart" shape, actually, but it had nothing to do with hearts as far as they were concerned. Turn it upside-down and try to figure out which body part it could represent. It even still carries some of the same implications!
I think Bouphe was confusing the contraception plant in Greece, and the super soldier plant from Wakanda
Interestingly, researchers think they may have found the plant still alive in a part of Turkey (I think) but they are still looking into it and its properties. I believe that it matched the description of flowers and lives in a similar climate to what the silphium plant was said to need. The thinking of how it got there is that it may have been just randomly placed in the valley by someone long ago and then forgotten about by people moving in and out of the region.

2 fun facts, it is the seed pods, not the leaves that are heart shaped, and we have possibly rediscovered a secret grove of silphiumas of last year
I like how mystical that sounds, like there was a sphinx guarding the grove and you had to complete her trials
i've also heard that the shape was seen as testicles, not a heart. the stylized heart shape we use is just an upside down representation of the seed pods. they also had a belief that the appearance of a plant tells you what organ it serves.

the trick to the off-road trucks in GTA, and that includes the monster trucks and the dune, is that they're technical vehicles that require you to actually slow down and consider your path (that btw goes for any off-road driving IRL as well). You can't just floor it and go in straight line, and expect it to go where you want, or even stay upright. It's the same thing IRL when SUVs and 4x4s became popular, there were lots of rollovers because people didn't understand that the higher suspension makes the vehicles far less stable, and just clipping the curb can make it roll if you go too fast

Boba is pretty correct, Dinosuars ended with them causing the ice age and just huddling in their home as they freeze to death with a slow camera zoom out of the house. Its super fucked up.
Wasn't that after some plant got out of control, then they effectively Agent Oranged the entire world, leading to said ice age? Like its super fucked up.

i literally just watched the episode bouphe was describing in the plot or not before watching this video. its star trek next generation season 4 episode 15. the doctor asks for sex at just before the 25 minute mark in the episode.
And the actress is Fraiser's wife.
Tom watched all of TNG a while ago and chatted with Ben about it, that episode really stood out in his memory.

When they were talking about whether thanking the bus driver was a local thing, Boba almost said something, and I have the weirdest feeling that she was going to say that in America the bus driver only lets you go if you agree to have sex with them.
Around where I live in the netherlands we thank the bus driver as we get off, but that's more of a recent trend.
Even to this day I shout “Cheers Drive” down the bus to say thank you as I get off the bus. 11 years in the USA and that habit I learned growing up in London has not diminished.

I think it's not so much a cultural thing as a personal thing and/or a logistics thing. If I pass the driver on the way out in the US, I'll thank them. I could see New Yorkers flipping the bird instead though.

@@phluid61 a little backup from across the pond, same goes in NZ, if you're at the back door you say it louder, It's rude not to. Only reason not to say it is if the driver is a dick which does occasionally happen

The only experience I have of Paul Hollywood is at the cinema I work at. We had a special early preview of a film, like 2 months early. Was told that the director and producers and family would be watching. We had such a headache getting the film to work because it was so last minute.
Finally got it working like half an hour before and...
Only Paul Hollywood and his partner turned up.
It was a whole screen just for them...they never even said anything to us.

Fun Fact: The Kamaz, which is the real-life counterpart to the trucks in the second race, is one of the most shockingly agile trucks on the planet. Seriously, look up "Kamaz drifting" or "Kamaz rally". Between this and the game's portrayal of muscle cars as slow and cumbersome (despite their entire point IRL being their ridiculous acceleration), I don't think the game's designers actually did any research into the vehicles they put in the game.
Of course you thank the bus driver. Except when they're psuedo-faceless like in Bouphe's London bus example, don't you thank anyone who serves you somehow? Waiters, delivery drivers, taxi drivers, glass collector, air host(ess) etc.

You can see from, I think, Ped's perspective right after it happened that only Ben got disconnected.
