This was and IS truly one of the Fifties Classics.
This is one of the best live performances I have ever heard his voice was so smooth and silky his mechanics were so flawless and impeccable. I remember being there at the Westbury music fair that night, it was my first oldies show ever back in the summer of the 988

I'll always remember this group. They came to the bladensburg fire hall dance and our band backed them up. What a thrill. I was 17 and now, 77!
Cool, my mom grew up in Coral Hills back in the 40’s 50’s and early 60’s. She graduated in ‘57 and said that she attended as many rock n roll shows as she could get to. She’s gone now unfortunately, but she very well could have been there! Your name first caught my eye because my grandfather’s name was Bernard Shartzer. Anyway thanks for sharing your story

Jimmy Weston certainly has a voice 'for the ages', and my wife and I discussed whether or not we ever saw Jimmy & the Danleers live during their very short heyday? We think not, unfortunately, so that watching this very moving live performance of The Danleers with originals Jimmy Weston, Johnny Lee, Nat McCune along with fill-in Bill Carey is simply awesome! And as a poster mentioned herein about Jimmy Weston dying too young ... Jimmy died two years after this live performance. A classic tune

Truly another great 1950's "Do-Wopp" ballad by (Brooklyn's own) the late Jimmy Weston and " The Danleers". Beautiful song on the MERCURY record label which was a huge record during the summer of 1958, different world back in those days. Beautiful lead and beautiful harmony. Great song to dance to with someone you love. Dont think we will EVER hear love songs like this anymore! An absolute timeless "classic"..........

One Summer Night has so much feeling it’s a very wonderfully sung song to see it done live at Westbury Music Fair was something I had almost forgotten about being there until I saw this video. Being there live was different it sounded just like the original recording the sound was perfect. God bless Jimmy Weston for leaving us with a great song!
What a class & classic performance by the kind of men who knew singing. All-time latew 50's Doo-Wop Classic.--I was 12 y/o, in 7th grade, & when this song came on the radio, the world stopped--nothing mattered, ONLY THE MUSIC. Thank-you Danleers! Wolfsky9
