Larry not knowing this confuses me considering how much he knows about the game. Is this not a normal strategy against luigi?
@@extasse99 yeah it is common, but Leo didn't really get hit by that many fireballs at 0%. most of the time he'd be getting hit by them at points where the strategy wouldn't make sense to go for
mby, but the fireball he took at the timestamp did not look intentional, nor did the one after, but the fireball damage really doesnt matter that much so who cares
Luigi has death combos at low %s regardless of getting hit by the fireball or not. There are some characters that are the exception to that, but I'm pretty sure Byleth isn't one of them

The way Leo is taking S-tier tournaments with a mid-tier has got to be one of the biggest flexes in smash history
Most people are in agreement they are low high tier but still impressive nonetheless. The biggest flexes are normally melee like mew2king winning shit with pichu etc. In ultimate one of the biggest flexes has to be nairo clapping light with ganon who is literally the worst character in the entire game
To be fair, Ultimate is a phenomenally well-balanced game considering the roster size. You can win with mid-tiers because the gap between them and the top-tiers isn't that big.
@@SsaiyanDorge since when? Since Leo started winning with em? Lol I don’t think anyone had Byleth anywhere near high tier until Leo started winning tournaments with him. Now all of the sudden the character is actually good, not just Leo carrying like he did with Ike.
@@twistedxxninja no it’s not like that. It more like people realising zss was top tier after marss showcased it. Sometimes people have overrated a character when mkleo wins but this ain’t that. This is one of those moments when a top player just shows the potential of an underplayed character

12:35 Leo takes like 4 fireballs. Less than a minute later Leo punishes 2 fireballs and takes a stock.
Like imagine your Elegant and you get 4 fireballs and your like "wow fireball doesn't usually work that well. Must be throwing him off tempo or maybe he doesn't know how to play around fireball that well" . Then a like 30 seconds later you throw one out but get hit off stage instead. Then your primal instincts kick in full gear and you know that the only answer that will work is another fireball cause that last hit was a fluke and you were messing him up with it earlier. Boom 💥 your stock is gone.
I would have went Sora that last game too.
I think what's most impressive is not only beating spargo who is arguably top three best in the world at the moment but beating the best Pythra in the world who is a top tier character with a mid tier character is just crazy af.
Exactly that is what you and some pro think about byleth, that he is "mid tier" now that leo has proven you otherwise the only argument you can bring about is "nah, byleth is mid tier, it is just leo" . Byleth is clearly a high tier with some minor weakness like speed and some average frame data. It's like chrome, a high tier with many good points but horrible recovery.
@@Yokai_Yuri I been maining byleth since he released he is 100 mid tier, top of mid but still mid. Matchups is another thing that brings byleth down along w speed and not too good of a recovery horizontally. Very strong character but he only looks that good because Leo reads the fuck out of people and that’s the type of character byleth is. He is mid tier getting played by the best in the world period.
@@Yokai_Yuri Leo is so good that when ultimate first came out he was making Ike look top tier, that's just how good Leo is.
@@ItsDragoh the character is definitely not mid tier, the recovery makes him impossible to edge guard, the attacks are very rewarding and big and apply a lot of shield pressure, and he's heavy enough to live a lot of situations.
His speed is a flaw but one that can be overcome regardless, i cannot think of how this is a "mid-tier"

you can't blame Tea for not punishing Byleth nair. That move have so many mix ups on landing it's insane.
Pyra/Mythra are an interesting character to play because they have a very exploitable recovery which is balanced by their oppressive advantage state and kill power. This is why Spargo can be up in many of the games but still end up losing due to an edge guard or ledge trap. Also, at the end of the match it was also very apparent that Leo was very willing to go for some crazy kills which probably ended up slightly rattling Spargo even though he maintained his composure quite well.
I think at the end sparg0 thought leo would go for a run off nair, as he kept doing that the entire set so that's why sparg0 jumped and air dodged but Leo was just waiting for that to take the game
As an avid Byleth supporter, MKleo makes me very happy.

@@fromjahwluv obviously, since Leo is able to get followups consistently, but he also often dash attacks in the wrong direction or his opponent techs before it comes out, so there is definitely inconsistencies
@@KevSB07 it just depends on what side of the hitbox the opponent is in on the last connecting hit. back hitbox = they go behind you, front = they go in front. nairquake (landing nair) is the hitbox that sends lower, regular hits send up and away. the move itself isn’t really inconsistent, it’s just the limits of human interaction
@@fromjahwluv only the final and landing hits are that clear. the multihits itself are difficult to make out. You can hit someone in front, but depending on your drift and vertical momentum they might go forwards or backward, making the final or landing hit inconsistent by proxy

Fun fact: MKLeo has such a high reverse 3 game win rate to the point where he’s more likely to beat you from 0-2 than you are to close out that third win.
12:40 I think Leo intentionally accepted the fireballs so he wouldn't be at 0% against a Luigi. We all know what they can do off a single grab at early percents.

To explain the shield break situation in game 4 vs Tea. Fully charged forward smash sweet spot at the edge is byleth's best kill option, Pacman is low enough percentage that down special probably won't kill but Fsmash might so he sets it up and barely mispaced the sweet spot.
Also 13:17 that air dodge was lowkey tough

They literally took Mewtwo's nair from Smash 4 and gave it to Byleth.
For Ultimate they made Mewtwo's nair as janky as possible and now you have to have godlike reaction to combo off it. It sucks

Speaking to the editing skills, Larry’s side-b being edited to thread the transition-needle between two clips around 2:40 in “The Agenda Evolves” is easily among the greatest gameplay edits around.

Spargo gave the 2nd set to leo. He kept going to the ledge and corner, knowing leo could easily abuse his ledge options and recovery. It happened time and time again. U can't see it here cuz its edited out. I feel like he just boxed himself in n retreated too much. He had the whole stage and he would run to the ledge.

I kinda disagree on that, Byleth was never really a hard character to fight before, it's moreso that MKleo is a monster.
Nah... 3 majors is plenty of time. If anything, Leo has gained lead on the competition over time with Byleth instead of Visa Versa, with the exception of Spargo and I think that's just because Spargo himself is getting really good and improving at a crazy rate.
