Love these comparisons between these two trucks. I made the hard choice a year ago to go with the Rival. The deciding factor for me was part, I'm a AE guy, handling, and price. It's a win win either way though. Rival with a 120a esc, xt60s and a 50+C batt and I'm doing 48 too.

Great video! Might get a mt10 with max10g2 140 esc and a 3665 kv motor to make up for the speed. Would probably be meaner than a stock granite. I do love how the granite looks and that it’s bigger but the mt10 seems to need less upgrades, has center diff etc so then I can spend on the electronics instead. From what I’ve gathered the mt10 is a more durable car overall? The granite seems to be a bit hit and miss in that department.
Great video thanks. I think this has me convinced to get this one for my wife, she likes the looks of it and every video I’ve watched so far the driver comments how well it handles. For example the first one they commented how easy it was to drive on grass, the next video they were running in a skate park and commented how easy it was to do tricks and corrections in the air and now you’ve mentioned how it’s easier on speed runs on the pavement. She has never even seen an RC car before never mind driven one, so this just might be the one for her I have the I’m a granite and the Hoss an Losi LMT. Oh I should mention she’s out of country and I just got into RC a couple months ago so I think I’ll surprise her with it when she gets back this fall.
Nice I think she will like it, it does handle a lot better than most Rc trucks in its class, comes with some nice features out of the box that you rarely see in a kit at this price point, front and rear LEDS, front and rear sway bars, a chassis dust cover, drives straight as an arrow and wheelies on command!
Rival mt10 handles better and is much more durable, indestructible actually lol. Just swap out the A arms with RPM arms and good to go. No slipper clutch or drive train issues like the granite. Plus the front and rear lights are great if you drive a lot after dark like me. And the included mesh chassis dust cover is also a nice perk

I agree with you on the re-test with the same batteries because that could maybe make up the difference a bit on the speed run. The granite may be more difficult to control but just look how easy that thing pops wheelies it has so much power compared to the rival. That being said maybe with the same battery the rival will have a little more pep but I don't think it will quite be on the same level as the granite even with the same battery. Overall I think the granite wins but I may be a little biased as a granite owner lol. Thanks for making the comparison I enjoyed it

Granite has a slightly bigger motor and esc. The rival has a center diff. With equal power systems the rival flies and it handles. But thats at the cost of an upgrade. Both trucks are a blast 👍👍 good review.
Nice comparison my friend. I only ever got my Granite up to 46mph. With the tyres ballooning it was all over the place. The tyres are great off road though. It looks like from what you are saying that it probably isn't worth getting the Rival MT10 if you already own a Granite. Great for the money though. Useful info 😁
Yeah pretty much lol, the granite is my go to now days but it’s always good to try new brands, more of a impulse buy on my part lol I like the MT10 it’s a good truck for what it is but it doesn’t come close to replacing the granite

This is a nice review. I would happily trade 5 or 6 miles per hour however to not have to deal with that slipper clutch, ha ha. Who am I kidding, after I have the MT10 for a while I’ll probably get the an Arrma 4S and have to deal with it then. Plus, I’m new to all this and still have to learn flips, etc. I think the Rival is for us.
The team associated probably has more stability because the granite wants to do 48-49 mph . While the associated can only go 43 pinned out. Gear down the arrma for a max max of 43mph and I'd bet the granite would find a whole lot more stability. 5mph may not seem like much but it is a huge difference when tires start ballooning at 45mph.
I think he might need slightly longer straights at full speed to ensure the GPS has time to get a good maximum measurement. I've seen other reviews hitting 52.
Consumed with straight line speed when they are made for bashing in the dirt. Just got the MT 10 vs 2 and that is what is going to happen. Concret is for street cars. The MT 10 is for sending and bashing in the DIRT ! The grass is fun but the rocks and dirt flying from the tires is where it is at.
High speed runs is just one component I use in testing just to see which Rc is faster stock! Along with durability and overall handling on road and off! Obviously off road is where these two shine! But it is fun to see which one is faster!🤙🏎️💨💨💨
So funny because I've had issues with the Granite. From what I've seen, the MT10 is more durable and the better truck long term. The center diff is always better than the problematic slipper.
The MT10 is a very durable truck, I’ve only broken the wheelie bar so far on a bad landing,however I haven’t had any issues with my Granite, it’s still going strong

Although when I ran these trucks they were using different brand batteries, they were both running 3s, as far as the price difference, the MT10 is slightly cheaper then the granite but not by much, as far as upgrades, the MT10 takes it, the MT10 comes stock with LEDS front and rear, along with front and rear sway bars, the granite does not, both are very durable and perform well on the ramp, for me it’s a hard decision because I like them both, hopefully this helps👍
I love the granite blx v3, it's more durable, more stabile but as you said the mt10 has a better handling, the center diff is a pro too and the lights. You can improve handling from the granite with wider rpm arms.
The granite is everything but stabile it controls well in the air but stility isn't it's strong suit if you give it gas and turn it will flip just like that that call you stabile? 🤣
@@maszkalman3676 I mean it's durable. In the last two years i just had one broken Querlenker, 4 new wheels and a new differential. After 2 Akkus and hundreds of hours of fun I can't say he is not durable.
Try gearing the arrma way down so it will only hit 42mph. And get same sized tires on the arrma as on the associated. Smaller sidewall tires have more control Then see what the handling feels like I'd bet you would find way more control and stability in the granite when it's slowed down by 15%

I have had no issues at all, it still runs great! I only run my Rc’s on 3s, the only breakage I had was the wheelie bar on a bad landing, it has since been replaced 👍

This is stock gearing, I don’t usually change the gearing on my monster trucks cause I very rarely run them on the street, just when I do speed runs and comparison videos for you guys, other than that I run them off-road
I've had my rival for 8 months and it's the best basher in my opinion. Arrma to me is to pricey. I have the arrma 4s and it's broke more than it drives. Gonna get the mt8 next can't wait.
Hi, do you know what the top speed for the mt10 is using a quality 3S battery. Cant find a video which shows this. I'm close to getting the version 2 - not much difference though.
I sold most of my arrma 3s rigs..To many flaws that need addresing ..Super easy to work on and maintain ..I have Helion Avenge..it's a better truck hands down
Close enough to not matter really. MT10 is considered by a lot of folks to be the toughest 1:10 truck around. Both are great though. Right now the granite is on sale so I’d get it. Same price I’d get the associated.
Honestly both trucks are tanks when it comes to durability, I think where the mt10 really shines is in the handling department, very rarely will you get a kit at this price that comes stock with front and rear sway bars not to mention front and rear LEDs, I know prices have since gone up, but if I remember correctly, the mt10 at one point was actually cheaper then the granite, either way you can’t go wrong with either one🤙

i hate to say it your eather got that controller turned down or you aare using 2s battery on the MT10. my mt10 spins for a very long time on 3s and looks to be much faster than that

Associated seems more stable because it can only go 42mph vs arrma 48mph. Any car with 6mph less speed would be a whole lot more stable especially when your at the tires ballooning threshold with the arrma and associated has no ballooning at all. Make the arrma top speed 6mph slower and is bet it would be way more stable.
Yeah I go by top speed not average, the granite has more of a punch and performs better on the ramp, however the Rival does handle better overall especially full throttle, at the time of the making of this video they were the same price, giving the slighter edge to the rival because of the out of the box upgrades, front and rear sway bars, front and rear LEDs, however now the prices have gone up on all Rc’s nationwide, so I’m not sure if the Rival is still as cheap as it was then, thanks for watching brother 👍
That is somewhat true, however I can full throttle the MT10 down the street one handed, where as the Granite can get out of control if your not careful, remember the MT10 has front and rear sway bars too, sooo

@@kenmastersmaster well I would have to agree to a certain extent, I agree that a monster truck can kinda get more of a pass when it comes to handling because most people run them off road and bash the hell out of them anyways, myself included, however in this situation ( comparison video ) handling is just part of it and I have to admit I have had monster trucks in the past that handle really bad, traction rolling all over the place and breaking all the time, so with that being said there are trucks that are better than others, durability and handling as well.

Plastic in the driveline on the granite made me go with the rival
Plastic is better. Smoother power delivery and cheap to replace. The rival is slow. Granite has much more power

That Traxxas battery is gonna make a difference. Never heard a single person sing the speed praises of the Traxxas batteries haha.
Yeah the Traxxas batteries will always be a 25c rating, so they’ll get the job done but there not that powerful

I run a 3300mah 80c battery in my rival Mt10 and it is insane. A 25c battery will be really holding it back...
Yeah I plan on doing more testing with different batteries, it is one hell of a truck though! 👍

1500 front 1000 rear , I heard of many going that route. I pick up some red cnc shocks for it I’ll use that silicone oil base instead of oil base

Any car with 6mph less speed would be a whole lot more stable especially when your at the tires ballooning threshold with the arrma and associated has no ballooning at all. Make the arrma top speed 6mph slower and is bet it would be way more stable.
My granite does 75mph
Really the average speed look like 45 on the granite, but both are nice, for the price the rival wins
Yeah I go by top speed not average, the granite has more of a punch and performs better on the ramp, however the Rival does handle better overall especially full throttle, at the time of the making of this video they were the same price, giving the slighter edge to the rival because of the out of the box upgrades, front and rear sway bars, front and rear LEDs, however now the prices have gone up on all Rc’s nationwide, so I’m not sure if the Rival is still as cheap as it was then, thanks for watching brother 👍

That is somewhat true, however I can full throttle the MT10 down the street one handed, where as the Granite can get out of control if your not careful, remember the MT10 has front and rear sway bars too, sooo
@@rcreviews9894 I don't really care how a monster truck handles... It's not a 4tec or b4 buggy. So I prefer stronger waterproofing, electronics, parts availability. That said I just picked up used mt8 for $250....
@@kenmastersmaster well I would have to agree to a certain extent, I agree that a monster truck can kinda get more of a pass when it comes to handling because most people run them off road and bash the hell out of them anyways, myself included, however in this situation ( comparison video ) handling is just part of it and I have to admit I have had monster trucks in the past that handle really bad, traction rolling all over the place and breaking all the time, so with that being said there are trucks that are better than others, durability and handling as well.
