You're onto something with the "evil organization vs singular evil" comment. My favorite campaign I've ran revolved around several competing conspiracy organizations and the players advancing the cause of their chosen Illuminati analogue.
I think it makes for a more interesting game than "here's the obvious end boss". Nations and organisations tend to be harder to keep down for too long, too 😈
Keep it pointing up range, from the hip, set to Auto, keep the trigger depressed until the magazine is empty.... good news about your Channel and content.... respect.
I prefer bows to firearms - and, unfortunately, the only automatic ones so far have been Jorge's weird strap-ons and those funny horizontal cross thingies ;)
I used ( what is now called )a gaming shop in Gravesend, Kent, it was called the Stamp Shop ( long gone the way of flesh)( half day closing on Wednesday).... all my books and most my figures as well came from there.... that and the Model Engineer Exhibition is every New Year ......a great way to blow-your Christmas money in the Eighties..... what a time to game. The stamp shop also sold stamps 😂, but gaming was where they made money from me and my friends...the staff were good, they knew their stuff and very kind to a stupid kid wide eyed in the shop of shiny, shiny things...they never did me wrong in material they offered me. Hail White Dwarf... I weep for the abomination you have become.....I remember and treasure the good you did for a young imagination and creativity..... I will never forgive GWS for their corruption of what was once marvellous. Word about the New Glorantha Cult material...... it is worth your 2 Magic Points alone.
It was a good time to be a gamer! And I am loving the new Glorantha Cults books - beautiful to behold, and fun to read. Everything a game book - any book! - should be.
Thanks for sharing these memories. I've been visiting your channel for a couple of years, and it's always well worth the time. I'm interested in what works, not with what doesn't, and your channel is always thought provoking. I come from the MERP / RM 2e school of roleplaying, and have dabbled in Burning Wheel. Also played a bit of Traveller long ago. I have always enjoyed the table-top as a place for on-topic improvisation and socialising with all involved. Never was so happy with the Spell system though. I wonder if you ever played Ars Magicka, or adapted parts of it into your campaign(s)? Would also look forward to hearing more about adapting the campaign to BRP. I mean how you keep track of what is done and what remains to be done, and how you find stuff later. That's a bugbear to me.
Yes, I have dabbled in Ars Magica. It's OK, but my main take-away from it would have been the sources it's influenced by - which I already have, at least in part, within my non-gaming library. So, not really incorporated Ars Magica into my games, but some of the root material is the same. Keeping track of stuff... campaign wise... that is a whole video on its own, I feel!
The most important thing to remember is that the best edition of D&D is the one your group likes the best
