    The lighting looks great in the video. And wow your makeup looked outstanding! Your glowy skin was beautiful. I'm happy you did this review, as I bought the copper peptides and wasn't sure where to use it, as it said not to use with basically everything I used. Seeing as you need to use things regularly to get results, I was having to give up other products to fit this in, but then I had to keep up with those other products so I couldn't use the peptide regularly. If that makes sense 😕 so I just never noticed any results, and it's 60 something bucks here in NZ, so quite pricey for something I wasn't really able to use properly. I have the regular buffet serum though and I like that . That medicube device is very interesting. I'd be interested in hearing more about it. 😉🌻

      ITS $60!? Oh my goodness no, not worth it for that much - that’s a lot of cosrx snail hahaha

    Thank you so much for posting this! And I totally feel you with the undertone thing. Especially when I start to tan (or start to lose my tan in the fall) I go through a phase where I look super yellow. I’ve considered getting Buffet + Copper Peptides, a little for the challenge, but I guess part of me thought that it must have amazing benefits if it requires such a change in routine for many people. After watching this, I don’t think I’m going to try it. I don’t have major issues with any of the things it claims to help with, or I use other products that target the things the copper peptides do. Thank you for doing this for us!

    Really insightful review, Alice. I just placed an order from Sephora a couple days ago, and let me tell you, I pondered for a long time about purchasing The Ordinary Buffet with Copper Peptides. I've wanted this product for months, but I always had so many other products to use up before I could feel justified in making the purchase. However, this time around, I was in the mood to just buy things that I've wanted for a long time--one example is the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush--which I purchased for my daughter last year, but had still hadn't purchased for myself. Anyway, after thinking about it for a long time, and reading all the requirements/exceptions/warnings when using this product, I decided that maybe I would pass on this product. And then your video came out and I felt totally supported in my decision!

    Yes, copper peptides do seem finicky. I've seen some folks say you can do one or the other (copper peptide or retinol) nightly but I've also seen an article saying you can use copper peptides and retinol but not prescription tretinoin and you have to apply copper pep then retinol. I've also heard that copper peptides can be used with vit c derivatives (or at least some like THD) so it's probably just better to get a peptide moisturizer and call it a day.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 роки тому +2

      Yup, I’ve seen them combined with vitamin c derivatives (perricone cold plasma). I think we need to see more research on them and particularly on their degradation. I’ll just await those studies haha!

  • @JD-xd4sy

    I've incorporated copper peptides on an every four day basis, as I use Tretinoin every other day and on the off day alternate between acids or peptides. Hard to say what does what with all the products I use though :) But it's less complicated planning and quite consistent.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 роки тому

      Is your main concern lip lines, softening, hydration, or moisture? I’d say different products for each of these
      Lip lines - grandepout. That is REALLY a good lip plumper, peptide based so no sting. It won’t make lips look larger, but it seems to poof out lip lines (yes that’s the scientific phrasing 😂)
      Softening - one of my favs here is Kopari’s lip balm. It’s incredibly emollient and makes lips feel so healthy!
      Moisture - this is mostly for environmentally-caused issues (think “winter lips”). Lanolin based formulas are top notch for this. I also feel this new Alpyn lip balm fits in here: it kind of softens and moisturizes?
      Hydration - associated with internal dehydration/dryness. The I’m From Honey lip balm was great for this, and I recently returned to Nuxe’s classic lip balm
      You might even benefit from a combo, which is often what I do. I like layering a more occlusive lip balm on top of that grandepout. Sounds like a lot, but whoa does that deliver for me!

    I actually do love copper peptides but I am spoiled on the Niod ond after using it. And they are tricky to use considering how finicky they are as an ingredient so I actually used to Microneedle my skin every 6 weeks and the combination of that with the copper peptides did make a difference in the firmness of my skin. That was the main benefit I noticed. Not gonna lie, my skin looked amazing during that period but it's been awhile since I did that whole routine.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole

      @@AliceintheRabbitHole I did research for several months about Microneedle treatments and what type of products to use and avoid and there is actually quite a bit of research on this. Penny Smith is an aesthetician here on UA-cam who talks a lot about this as well. For about 2 years I was doing treatments every 6 weeks using a 0.5 depth and I would follow up with Gin Amber's vitamin c serum or a copper peptide serum and the results from that were amazing. After 4 treatments my skin was So smooth and refined, the little 11 lines from stress were completely gone and after one year my eyebrow hairs (I overplucked for years) actually began to grow back! My skin definitely looked more lifted and youthful so I can't wait to get back to doing it. They use copper peptides in combination with micro needling at medical spas and dermatologists offices so it's something to look into if you're interested.

    Did I miss why a person can’t combine copper peptides with these other products? Ppl don’t talk abt them much, I think I’ve only heard penny smith mention them previously; thus, I don’t think I know what happens when they’re mixed with these other ingredients (or it just hasn’t stuck in my brain) or what effect that interaction can have on the skin… but I assume it causes irritation? How far apart does it have to be spread out to avoid an interaction?
    Quite interesting bc we dont really see many ingredients derived from metals-but I also assume the finicky characteristics could be the reason why.
    I remember previously being interested in some products containing copper peptides though. I think it was actually around this time last yr when the ordinary/Niod was having its sale. There’s a popular Niod product with Copper peptides in it if I remember correctly- maybe a face mist? I like facial mists, especially as a refresher/pick me up arnd mid-day, but I also don’t wear makeup every day; so I wonder if that would be a good option for applying this active?
    Just wondering why it has to be spaced out and for how long?
    Obvs I’ll Google it- it’s just not always so easy to find a reputable or unbiased resource that can answer the cause and effect type questions or that gives insightful/accurate recommendations for application… hence, UA-cam and you! Haha, Thanks!

    1) Could the wall covering (green mushroom algae pond? That’s just what it looks like from here 🤓) in this background be impacting your camera? Maybe it’s the tipping point. Green person + green leaves = ok. Add green mushrooms => error 🤖 must correct 🤷🏻‍♀️
    2) yeah…yes, pretty much in agreement. I’m using the DRMTLGY copper peptide serum but so inconsistently because I tend to focus on the retinol/acid routines. So I dunno how I feel about it. And it’s not cheap so I kinda feel like I’d have to forgo those other routines for a while to know for sure. But I need my BHA!
    3) re: wearing less makeup, I recently got a Kosas liquid eyeshadow in a Sephora clean beauty set and it’s so nice! Gives me a nice subtle but pretty shimmer and it’s truly one and done because it doesn’t need primer, doesn’t crease in my very hooded lids, and I can quickly apply it with my fingers without a lot of fuss. My expensive PMG palettes are not amused.
    4) Just signed up for the sunscreen seminar day promoted on Dr. Michelle Wong’s channel (I know you know who she is, but for anyone else reading: LabMuffin). I’m not getting up at 5am for it 🤓 but I’ll watch the early sessions later.

I really need to buy another Needle less serum. I love peptides in general I use the dear klairs oil drop and a few drops of the ordinary argeruline serum in the AM and the RNW ceramide that has peptides and other stuff at night I use the needless serum but I have been out of it 😭I think all of them have some Copper peptides I like the dear Klairs midnight serum too after my first essence. My dumb ass has been buying bujuee makeup for the past Few weeks instead of akincarem did u know Sephora did away with the mini laneige cream skin I went to buy it cause that side lasted me forever and it's not on their site anymore.

      Ooh what makeup did you buy? So I got this Clean makeup kit from Credo right - what the heck is up with Westman Atelier, could they POSSIBLY be more bougie lol! The lip balm is wrapped in velvet!? I was like…no this is too much, I’m not this level of fancy 🤣🤣
      Yeah DRMTLGY and Medicube are both really, really awesome brands!

    Can I use matrixyl and argireline serums together on alternative nights between retinaldehyde and copper peptides?? Can I use matrixyl and argireline with copper peptides, or other peptides in general?

      Yes to mixing all the peptides (although TO’s buffet also contains many, see my the ordinary peptides video). No to mixing retinaldehyde and copper peptide - only copper peptide - within the same routine

      @@AliceintheRabbitHoleI appreciate you so much for responding!! just to confirm, I CAN mix matrixyl, argireline, and copper peptides within the same routine, not just matrixyl and argireline? Or should I seperate matrixyl and argireline with copper peptides? Also, if my previous statement IS correct, can I mix the RNW ceramide serum with matrixyl and argireline, AND copper peptides? Sorry if this is redundant, I'm trying to grasp peptides, but am struggling to find much information online.

    I’m using The Ordinary buffer+copper peptides and noticed an improvement in my skin tone, but it made my hooded eye worse and more saggy. Starting to panic. Do you think it’s an allergy or something?

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole

      Oh man I hate to tell you this but you need to know:
      Google “copper peptide uglies” and you’ll find people that had similar experiences.
      It’s not something we can explain yet - after all, most research on CP shows it helps with fine lines/smoothing! But the reverse is common enough to have a term for it. I figure it’s kind of like how drug commercials show these people prancing around but the end of the commercial will have all the side effects. Sadly, it seems some do experience this 😞

    I've been using this cooper peptide also. I'm not interested in these rules. Too many I used this morning before I laid down with curtains pulled. The Faded Serum with Tranexamic Acid with kojic Acid too. Oh with low grade Curology. . 01 retinay with the cooper peptides. I just don't care anymore. Like I got two bottles of it . So no worries it's all good . May be a hair more drier for it but the zit I had is gone.

    Hey, wandering why you think copper peptides shouldn't be used along a retinoid? Its compatible in terms of ph. I personally didn't encounter any evidence of a problem with that.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 роки тому +1

      Yes so the concern is partially pH, but it may extend beyond that. While it’s not a big deal in terms of most ingredients, GHK-Cu contains copper - which in its free form is considered damaging to the skin. Hence we REALLY do not want to break apart that bond (and in fact, this could - potentially - be the basis of “the copper peptide uglies”)
      So I’m far more cautious with copper peptide than I would be, say, the matrixyl peptides. It’s potentially the difference between “oops made my skincare products useless” vs “oops made my skincare products dangerous”.
      HOWEVER-I think we simply do not know with retinoid ingredients. I’m seeing some people report success with that combo here, and it doesn’t necessarily surprise me. It all boils down to that darn lack of information - such a problem, especially considering that companies have no hesitation in selling copper peptide products!

    Can anyone tell me how TO copper buffet peptides compare to the Niod CAIS? I am currently using niod CAIS and i love that it has a watery texture that absorbs instantly, so I can layer my skincare products easily over it. How does TO texture feel compared to Niod? I wish I could continue using Niod but the price is putting me off.

      @@lizbarrand7701 I don't mind the caution it requires in terms of layering, since it's considered to be so powerful, but I have to admit it is really difficult to find a copper peptide serum at a decent % and price point that really delivers. Companies do focus on so many useless ingredients that become popular for marketing reasons and really lose sight of those that have scientific evidence of working.
