Thats why I wear long pants and 6 inch hiking shoes. There are shoes and pants that you can tie off.

Gaiters. long pants, long sleeved shirts, french foreign legion hats because they'll get down your back, DEET, fingerless mitts and trekking poles. Doing good mileage. Sounds a bit like a spider bite. They can weep and be itchy. Leave a white mark on the skin when healed over. Small snake might have been a white lipped. I've seen them on the track around Sealers to Refuge.

The deadly critter count - you were in a parking lot full of possibly lethal 4000 lb critters. They are relatively harmless when resting, but sometimes parasites climb in and cause them to move in unpredictable ways.

In the Venezuelan jungle in Canaima National Park you can also find water with that "ice tea" color from the "taninos" produced by the leaves and natural deposits in the river. It is also safe to drink and it has an amazing effect on your hair when you bathe in the river. Your hair feels smooth like you used a ton of conditioner. Does it have the same effect over there?

Beautiful scenery. Looking forward to more videos from your trip. I’m glad leeches aren’t much of a problem in the US. I think I would have nightmares.

I loved the music that you scored it with Dan, particularly at the beginning. It reminded me of Philip Glass score to Koyaanisqatsi. Also a wonderful chronicle of your hike!

Shingles can be a bugger, I had a case when I was 50 that lasted almost 2 years, very painful at times and itchy too. Good luck you'll have a mild case.

Dude, I had shingles when I was about 30 and it was one of the worst medical experiences of my life! Some people describe it like being on fire since it attacks your nerves. Anyway, glad you had an easy time of it. And to be honest, it was bad for me but I've been lucky to avoid breaking any bones or getting really sick. I still have a big scar on my forehead to remind me...

I half jokingly say this, but perhaps the bloodletting from the leeches offset the shingles. Leeches have been used for centuries, and one use is for shingles. I'm skeptical myself about bloodletting as a cure, but it was my first thought. Lol.

I'm the only person in my family who has not had shingles yet. Youngest to get them was 13 and oldest was 37.

Amazing how the leaches made it right through the socks. I got destroyed by chiggers this past summer in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. That was a first for me. The tracks through there have tons of bog holes, so not so practical to cover up completely. Lots of wading to hook up straps or pull winch. There's a section of tall grasses where I helped to tug out a couple vehicles. I learned the hard way that is where chiggers deposit their eggs. It's their miniscule larvae that attack you and burrow into your skin for a feast. feels and looks like you have chicken pox, and they like to go up under your shorts and take hold near your privates...not fun.

You're the second youtoober with shingles today....Luke at the Outdoor Gear Review said he just had it.
What is it with the oceans in Australia? They're just over the top beautiful! Its that travel brochure/club med blue. Around here (CA, USA) the ocean looks greenish grey. Not that I'm complaining ;)

I’ve had Shingles twice. It’s a total bugger. Extremely painful! Also contagious.
The color of the ocean in contrast with the white sandy beach was amazing. How were the waves?
You’ll have to formally introduce your lady friend.

That might be the covid vaccine coming out of you!.........
Don't be afraid to show some of the cooking and lunch and sleeping setups. The scenery is great, but I've been to areas of California and Oregon that looked much like that. Well, no orange water.
The gear you take hiking might be interesting. Some nighttime views. Did you have a campfire? Can you have a campfire on the beach there? Will any kind of repellent keep the leaches off?
You're passing on the interesting stuff.

Did you have a very stressful event during your trip or hike? In my experience shingles surface shortly after a big event of some kind
