Quite an eclectic list. I’ve read 7. Glad that Percival Everett is getting some more recognition. And just more and more eager to read Demon Copperhead.
I finished _Demon Copperhead_ a couple days ago and I gave it five stars. I thought it was an amazing book, right up there with _The Poisonwood Bible_ and _The Lacuna,_ which is my favorite by her. _Demon_ may be a new favorite.
I loved Scattered All Over the Earth. It's not sinister at all, it's very light-hearted and a bit whimsical. Tawada breaks down so many borders within the narrative - national, language, gender, ethnicity, food, parentage. I look forward to the follow up books.
Yeah for the start of Best Books Of Year lists time 😉📚❤️ I have heard of Night Of The Living Rez because of the Skoden readathon. It’s definitely one I want to get to!! True Biz is another one I have heard good things about. 😊 Thank you for sharing list with us.
Thank you, Eric! "The Town of Babylon" sparks my interest. Currently reading and enjoying Andrew Miller's "The Slowworm's Song" and Joanna Quinn's epic English country house novel, "The Whalebone Theatre."
Sounds like a great year for books. Only one book there would be a hard 'not interested' for me. Only book mentioned that I've read was 'The Trees'. Made me want to read other Everett books. The first description of 'Dr No' I heard had such a different slant; hadn't recalled it mentioning Fort Knox or Bond villains at all (it did, but not until late in the description so maybe I skipped over it). Right now, 'Devil House' grabs me the most. I'd love more list videos.
Oh dear, only read one, but loved it - Scattered All Over the Earth by Yoko Tawada. (On a contemporary Japanese fiction binge. Diary of a Void by Emi Yagi is stunning.)
Awaiting for Dr No to drop any day now! Can't wait. I'm afraid you can really swerve "Scattered All Over The Earth". The set up is excellent, but then it reads like YA, with lots of coincidences.
I’m looking forward to Sleeping car Porter, the Village Idiot , Solenoid, Either/Or, eventually I’ll get to Demon. I’ve read the Swimmers, and scattered
You may prefer the book cover of the English Demon Copperhead but the American cover has all the details of Damon’s life represented so I disagree. But I don’t disagree with your review-it is wonderful book.
Eric, is that chair comfortable for you to read in? It does not look very comfortable. I cringe every time I see you sitting in it. hahaha my problem not yours. Thanks for all your great videos
@@EricKarlAnderson of course you saw it, silly question on my part!! I have a list addiction. 😂 I love discovering books that are outside the expected and got excited by that top ten with titles I hadn’t heard of. Holiday… aka end of year list season… here we come!

You're going to love it!
I love your reviews! They’re fun, smart, and right on time. Thanks again !
Thanks so much! 📚
I love end-of-year book lists! I've read several of these and I'm in pursuit of several more.

Ah interesting! From the dystopian premise I assumed it would be darker.

Yay! 📚 Yeah, I'm so keen to get a copy of True Biz.

Ah great, I've been meaning to read those too.
Always love these lists. I definitely want to read The Candy House. Such an interesting premise. Just popped a reservation on it at my library ☺
Fab, hope you enjoy it!
DEVIL HOUSE. Highly recommended. You may think you know where the story is going, but trust me you don't. 🤯
Ooooh!

Ah, interesting! Thanks. Many other people seem to love Tawada's novel. Always curious to see a diversity of opinions!
Best presenter I have ever seen, you are very good presentation
Thanks so much! 😊📚
@@EricKarlAnderson You're welcome, and good luck💐💐
Love your Best Books videos!
😊📚
I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but... I want Solenoid on my shelf! Really interested in The Town of Babylon too.
Yeah, it's cool.
I think Everett writes two books a year!!
JCO levels! 😄📚📚📚
Ooh fun, lots of book I haven't heard of yet!
😊📚📚
It is my never ending despair and my greatest reassurance that I will never run out of books to read and will never get to them all😂
Yes! 😅📚📚📚📚
the only book I've read that was published this year is Lapvona, which I really liked. Not really intereted in any of the ones on this list though.
I’m looking forward to Sleeping car Porter, the Village Idiot , Solenoid, Either/Or, eventually I’ll get to Demon. I’ve read the Swimmers, and scattered

Yeah I might feel differently if I saw the US cover in person. It is interesting to read a book and then see what all the details on the cover mean.

It actually is quite comfy! 😄📚
Did you look at their top ten? They have 5 additionally fiction titles on there. Like the NYT top ten it is 50/50 fiction/nonfiction.
Yes, I did see there are other fiction titles there but thought I'd just stick to discussing their main fiction list.

@@ReadingintheDriftless Not a silly question at all. I just thought the 20 on the fiction list were enough to discuss at the start. 😊
@@EricKarlAnderson this is very true.
"Night of the Living Rez" was such as disappointment.
