you dont need to pull the torsion keys out to remove that transmission. pull both driveshafts, one crossmember, starter, converter bolts, bellhousing bolts, cooler lines, wiring , PRNDL switch, drop down.
Transfer case hits the torsion crossmember way before you can slide the whole trans/transfer case back enough to do a converter swap.
Sure you can leave the converter in the trans and take the whole assembly out at an extreme angle after you suck the fluid out but that isn’t at all what we were doing here lol. Slide back, swap converter, slide back in
@@CoastalRacecraft ive done that swap at least 30 times.. never once removed that crossmember.
I'd love those seats in my 07 Classic. Hell I'd settle for the headrests 👍

Haven't seen someone pull the torsion bar crossmember back before!
Makes all the difference in the world and you don’t have to mess with the transfer case, buying a new transfer case gasket and resealing etc..

@@stevepoythress4678 Happy to help! I appreciate you watching the video! Throw a little anti seize in the hex flats of the torsion keys and control arms. It'll help keep the bars from rusting up and sticking over time.
You're going to pull apart a rare and beautiful truck, very disappointing sir, there aren't alot oftheses trucks. Please save the truck and find something else to be a parts vehicle please.
I can promise you it has its issues. What we are doing with it will have a far far better life then letting it rot.
@@CoastalRacecraft I have seen a rougher SS be restored. As an original and current owner of an 03 SS, please have some respect for a limited production truck!

Fti, Yank, Circle D all make good converters for a bolt on type truck or something with a cam and maybe heads too. For the cam and valvetrain stuff you can’t go wrong with BTR. Check out our Cam only TBSS series on here. Lots of good cam swap info.
ruined a truck that they made about 1103 of in that color. that is a very sought after color for the SS. lots of potential buyers. should have bought a regular 1500 for parts.

you dont need to remove the torsion bars to pull that transfer case.. ive done mine dozens of times and you dont need to do that.
We didn’t pull the transfer case, we pulled the entire transmission assembly and transfer case all as one so you don’t have to take the transfer case off first. Works like butter every time, it’s faster, and you don’t need a new transfer case gasket.
1104 of these made in blue.. that's the rarest color.. dont pull it apart.. UGH..
