    Nice review. I have been using the DeWalt DWE 7491 which has a 1.75 hp motor many years. It is a fine saw but after watching many reviews on the Harvey table saws I pulled the string and purchased the Harvey HW110TC 36P workstation. The HW110TC has the 3 HP motor and is on sale right now for $1999.00. It is only $200 more the your 2 HP model. I do NOT work for Harvey but I can tell you that their customer service is excellent and the staff is extremely helpful. My wife and I visited their warehouse in Montclair CA last month. My saw should arrive later this month. I cant wait to use it. Again, thanks for the review.

    Thanks for the review! Great job!!! I got a 3hp 36p a couple months ago and love it. Your points are spot on though. The dust collection over the blade isn’t great and gets in the way more than it helps. I do use the low setting on the fence. It’s great for plywood and small stuff.

    Thanks for the good review. I bought their 4hp saw when my old Jet 3hp saw had a catastrophic tooth failure of the discontinued trunnion gear. Harvey is a big upgrade from any other saw out there. The slightly bigger table makes a big difference!
    I'll have to check my fence for deflection. Never noticed any, but wasn't looking for it either. Man, I always thought the Incra fence system looked good, but was pricey...until I saw Harvey's new fence that's $400 more than Incra. Whoa!
    As far as the potential nut buster handle, it's the same as every table saw fence I've ever used. Never had a problem with it. I know it's there, I walk around it.
    In short, I guess a guy could spend endlessly on every do-dad and upgrade out there. I'm just not driven that way.

    • @stlwoodworking
      @stlwoodworking  Рік тому

      Yes absolutely you can spend a fortune on everything. I love my saw and I am excited about the new fence like I said in the video it corrects every issue that I even had. It is a bit pricey and me having the channel and wanting to get it as quick as possible so I can do a review on it ends up costing me in the end because I would imagine once it comes out it will probably be on sale at some point and I could have gotten it cheaper LOL

    Hoping you might be able to offer a little wisdom for my new Harvey saw. I have it all set up but cannot seem to get the riving knife to align well. The instruction manual shows a "b" set of screws that hold the riving knife in place, and an "a" set of set screws that adjust the riving knife. I loosened up the B, adjusted the A, alignment looks great...THEN...I retighten the B screws and the knife goes back out of alignment. Hoping you might have some wisdom for me...thanks in advance...

    • @stlwoodworking
      @stlwoodworking  8 місяців тому +1

      I have not had that issue. I personally first try to just go a little past alignment with the A screw and maybe if it does not pull it back when you tighten the B down I would reach out to Harvey and see if they might need to send you out another knife. I will copy this post and send it to my contact over there as well. So mention that when you call them if the other does not work.

    I've been looking at Harvey for some time and this would be my first cabinet saw purchase, so i've done alot of comparison. I'm that person that tends to go with more power than is needed, just my preference.
    I work mostly with eastern cedar (perhaps up to 2.5 in) and find that my one time jobsite saw had trouble around the "knotty" portions of the stock. What's your opinion on HP perhaps between 2hp-4hp?

    • @stlwoodworking
      @stlwoodworking  10 місяців тому +1

      The 2.5hp would be just fine but if budget is not an issue then I would probably go with the bigger one. Even though this one is fine and works great, I would love to have the 4hp. I would highly suggest no matter which one you go with, get the Big Eye fence.

I know with my table saw felder hammer K3 it has an electronic brake that kicks in and stops the blade. Felder also do a safty system similar to saw stop but there is no cartridge to replace its just a reset button, the big down fall for the system is it is only available on there top end models that more of an industrial machine with a price tag that make a saw stop look like pocket change.

  • @LordPadriac
    @LordPadriac 6 місяців тому

    That length of time is perfectly normal on ANY saw made for sale in America than I've ever used. For whatever reason despite the recent fixating on that ridiculous SawStop "safety" device the CPSC has NEVER mandated the blade stop within any sort of time frame. Saws sold for use in Canada or the EU are mandated to stop in under five seconds which is easily achievable with AC injection into the DC motor and take only a handful of additional electronic components costing about a buck fifty retail. The notion of a foot brake for a table saw is ludicrous unless it's just an easy to access foot switch for an emergency AC injection circuit. The physics are all different than on a bandsaw. A tablesaw is moving much faster with much greater power and much greater torque than a bandsaw. Just the thought of trying to physically stop that by forcing a foot brake down is threatening to break my ankle.

    • @stlwoodworking
      @stlwoodworking  6 місяців тому

      Yeah I would not want a foot brake. It has a break of some kind I can hear engage, just wish it would happen sooner.
