Another great video with a cameo appearance from Daisy! 😁
Yes! Thank you!
@@christopher6050 😎
Looks good. Sometimes good used stuff is better than new junk
Absolutely I've been passively looking for a rear bumper
This car’s bodywork will be way better than when it came off the showroom. This car will look way better than new. I am sure fixing the rear bumper and re chrome is out of the budget , maybe a new bumper will be better but maybe not.
Absolutely, never know what you get with repops
Man, that is really looking good. I wouldn't have believed it was the same car if I hadn't watched every video in the series.
Hard to believe sometimes
This car is unbelievable restoration you are amazing at this project
It should be a nice car in the end
Your attention to detail is awesome brother. If the owner isn’t satisfied with this work shame on him. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
I think a white bumper on back matching front will look good. Red on white 👍
I sure try
SO I suppose take'n a torch to the rear bumper and persuading it into shape is out of the question. As is the Auto Zone chrome in a can!😁
Pretty much 😂
Great job your attention to detail is fantastic. That fiberglass is going to look great. Good luck with that rear bumper.
The owner had better put you on his Christmas list. 😉
Daisy believes your videos are worthwhile too - because bring on the treats!
She loves treats
Your patience level is admirable!
Thanks it's testing some days
At first I didnt like the new front bumper but I agree with you it will look cool and not like everyone else's. Your years of experience are really shining through, great work.
It hard to see the vision in a sea of grey hopefully it will all flow together in the end
Like what you did with the front end. Once it finished and painted, it will look sporty and classy. You've done a lot of work and still a lot to do, but it looks a thousand times better than when it rolled into your shop. You, sir are a magician working your magic on this hacked up mess. Til next time, you and Daisy have a great week
It will be like have that gt350 feel but with some elegance
Like it Russ excellent cheers 🥂 😊
Thank you! Cheers!

Another great video, awesome work! Looking forward to see the Torino update.
Thanks, another torino update should be late weekend
Keep up the awesome work! BOOM BABY!
Thanks! Will do!
That’s going to give some class to that car
Just make it a little different
Daisy said more sleep. Great video.
I need to do the same most days
Good job, Russ. That fiberglass front bumper looks good. Yeah, the original bumpers back in the '60's didn't have the 5 mph crash standard, I remember. Too bad the aftermarket body panels are so troublesome, what a pain.
I will say this about the delete it's nice and thick fiberglass
I hope you the hood install with hinge adjustment. Mustangs are notorious for the hood to cowl not lining-up properly. Usually hinge issues........ Lookin Good !!
I'm sure it will be a mess but it was the best fitting panel before
A painted back bumper could look good.
Absolutely
As usual excellent professional.
Many thanks!
I love them with the r front bumper. You've really polished that turd up. It's going to look good Russ
Thanks for stopping by Jamey
I like you nice guy you are just what I like your cars are sometimes outrageous what you work on would I say beyond repair
I appreciate that!
I like the bumper delete front valance 👍 looks good
I like them as long as the car flows with the vibe
Another awesome job .definitely coming along now.
Won't be too long and it'll be ready to paint
@@HotRodGuyGarage I bet you're getting excited about that. I am , can't wait to see it in paint.
Coming along nicely. Daisy cat scan approved 🐱. That's going to be a nice car.
I think so too!
Ouch at 26:42! "Tougher than a nite in jail" - haha
Definitely
Car looks awesome. I like the front with the added bumperless piece. That will set the car apart from every other Mustang. I think color matching the rear bumper would be a good look for the car also. As usual great job the owner is fortunate to have you restore his Mustang. Excellent vid.
If it all falls together like I see it in my mind he will have one car he will be proud of
Nice!!!!
Thanks for the visit skip!
You've done an awesome job on this mustang, enjoying the videos. I'd do a chrome delete on that car if it was mine including the rear bumper.
Always a option at this point
Love the shelby treatment.
Hopefully it will make what I've explained to him in my head
Hey Russ, more great progress. I had to remove my rear valence outer, lower mount brackets as they were in the wrong place and depth was also incorrect. I fabricated new ones that included welded studs. The rest of the panel fitted badly too, but after many hours now looks great. As someone said on another site "many of these aftermarket panel fits are rubbish, but at least we can get something to work with"! Steve (New Zealand). PS all the best for progress on the Torino for the No Name Nationals
Absolutely Steve it's better then nothing in most cases
Looking great.
Thanks!
I owned a 1965 Mustang race car back in the day. Ford raced them and Shelby used them at his driving school. Nice little fast car
Very cool 😎
Great work Russ, maybe be a good idea to see if you can obtain a good original ford bumper to test fit before you make a call on the Taiwanese gem, love your work, cheers Mark in New Zealand
He is bringing me the bumper off his other mustang even though it's rusty it won't matter if it fits better
Rougher than a night in jail.....🤣🤣🤣🤣
The look in your eyes of "you gotta be kidding me!" When you come back to the camera is priceless! Way to keep your cool! 🍻
True story
I've completely removed the gel coat on fiberglas and also tried roughing it up and I've always found that completely removing it has resulted in better adhesion. I'll add that it's usually doing molded flares so I'm adding sheets of glass to really add structure. Filler on top of the glass later to just to smooth things out.
Absolutely, that's one way if your bonding it together
Great work, Russ. I like your idea of the Shelby theme for this car. I think you should just cut the bumper and fit it to the car and paint it. It will look great with the stripes and give it quasi modern look. Just my thoughts..
That's the plan so far
Well, not sure if I like it as I'm a stock-look sort of guy but let's see what it looks like all painted up! Q: Can you use a heat gun on that fiberglass to help persuade it to fit correctly, or is that too dangerous? Rear valence panel looking good! Since there is no bumper in front, maybe a painted one in back is not so bad.
It'll all flow together in the end I hope
Another great video you got the rear valance to fit good repo stuff is always out a bit can't say I'm a fan of the bumper delete just as I don't like the Elenore Mustang done to death chrome original is the look was the front bar a good fit because you have some work in the fibreglass one. Love the way Daisy comes to talk to you.
The front filler pan and lower valance along with the bumper brackets where all messed up on this car by the time I stripped paint, straightened and fitted it all this was more cost effective
it's really going to be nice. Wondering about the bumper bolt holes in the fenders - welding them up? Guess I should watch and find out. *edit - yep. The final fit on that R nose is just plain good. Nice work.
Yep, welded them up only way to delete them!
Back bumper
Cut, fit, body work and paint.
That's the plan
Russ, I understand, you're a perfectionist. You're, not doing a $300,000 Concourse restoration. For the look, you're going for, painted bumpers are perfect! I, hope your customer can appreciate that. Using cheaper off shore parts, on a budget, get you what you get. I understand, what you're going through.
Absolutely I've only been shooting for drivers quality and to most that means show car to me it just means a nice car with good fitment
@@HotRodGuyGarage Absolutely. UA-cam, can make you do more than you should do, for the money you're getting payed. People are used to Chip Foose and American Hotrod. Many, don't know the cost.
I’m not sure how I feel about the front bumper delete. I’m a chrome guy so I like a nice shiny bumper. That being said I will stick around until it’s finished to see the final product. I’m sure it will look great since you seem to have an eye for this stuff. Great videos!
It's not something for everyone but I think it will flow together with what I have in my head
Front bumper looks awesome, starting to come together.
Best fitting part so far!
Really need to look into oem used bumper
Absolutely, he is going to bring me the one off his other car
@@HotRodGuyGarage I think you’ll have better luck
It’s looking good my friend
It's almost like you've done this before.
More than I can count lol
This is starting to come together nicely. The factory rear valence and bumper were never that good to begin with and it is easy to spend hours for something most people will never notice. Are there fiberglass rear bumpers available? Maybe something like that to match the GT350-R bumper? Maybe even paint in a silver with a clear coat to give the race car look?
They sell a tight fit painted bumper in steel and fiberglass both are options
I like the Shelby "R" front. When it comes to Mustangs and Camaros, the question is how do you set yours apart form the thousands out there? Seems everything that can be done, has.
Absolutely it's hard to have anything different that doesn't offend some
Seems like everything you touch on this thing is a trainwreck. Will be a happy day that pulls out of your garage and down the road won't it. Thx
I'll be glad when it starts to get to the happy stuff where it looks like a car again
I like the delete for the 65/66, but for the 67-69 I prefer the bumper with the spoiler.
I agree 💯
On the rear bumper i see what you mean as to poor fitting aftermarket stuff. To give others who might not be familiar with the vast differences usually encountered between the two i would, if able, grab a straight-ish OE unit and see how it lines up all around.
The fix on the lower tabs i bet is a common thing too. The nose is coming along well...i'm assuming you knocked down or had something behind the holes when you welded so the inside looks respectable.
All in all it's coming together well...but i can hear you wanting this sucked done and gone from your presence. It has been a ton longer of a haul then intended but as you said it was so butchered and hacked up what else could you do.
Two thumbs way way up!
He brought me another bumper so I can see how it fits hopefully it won't take much to fit nice , I've got a 1" copper slug to hold behind holes to weld them up. Hopefully in the next week or so we will be ready for final primer
I bought a fiberglass bumber for my Galaxie. When it came time to put it on l developed cold feet. Felt a was giving up to much protection.
The main object is to not wreck it lol but as small as these bumpers are they don't really offer any protection
Normally I'm not a fan of painted bumpers BUT considering the issue you are having painting the rear makes sense. The fact you have a front bumper delete (painted), a chrome rear bumper would be odd. Just my two cents from Canada.
About the only way to get a decent fitment I believe
@@HotRodGuyGarageI tend to agree, Russ. We both know he won't/can't spring for a new one. Also, I'm guessing a chrome bumper would actually appear "stranger" than a painted one.
Back bumper that is
1st
Hooray
Fiberglass rear bumper, blend it in chip foose style.
Always a possibility
Looking at random pictures the rear bumper does stick out some.
Yeah from what I've seen none for great some fit good thats about all none fit great
Amazing how you modify misfitting aftermarket parts and make them work. Have you ever butchered one so bad you just had to junk it? If so does it happen much?
Sometimes in custom work you loose one sometimes
Excellent video. Do you use a high flex filler on the bumper
On something rigid as this delete regular filler works fine, if it was thin and super flexible it would had been the option
So how did it feel being the ground cable? The idea of that happening has always scared me. I kind of thought it would be worse than what it looked like for you but its hard to tell as the scene was cut shortly afterwards. I hope it wasn't too bad.
Just like sticking something in a 110 outlet fast and done
Human ground can be tricky!!! Good thing you do t have steel plates in your body ! 😂😂
It happens but always when you least expect it
That rear bumper NEEDS to be painted. As they say "chrome dont make it go any faster".
Chrome won't get ya home but black will get ya back is a saying I usually take to heart
@HotRodGuyGarage lol. Ya, that works too.
At 12:06 you trimmed off that upper excess. Are you going to add something under the flat area so it will not sag? Also YT has removed the like button for some reason from this video.
Yes it's been reinforced, and weird on the button
Front bumper delete? What kind of driver is he?
About as strong as the stock bumper lol
Those rear quarter extensions are whacked! 23:44 The driver's side is sitting on the tail light housing. 24:08 wacky gap around the passenger side.. So much for quality replacement panels.. 😢
@@mwalt7 the taillights are just sitting there not bolted in, I did have to make some adjustment for them also
shocking results....be careful .
Always!
You have worked way to hard, and have done a great job making a good car out of nothing to put that piece of shit bumper on the car, good call. I do like the front look though, good eye good call, great work
Absolutely, it's not even driver quality as far as fitment
Man those bumpers fit like shit from the factory. If he’s going with that fiberglass front then why not a fiberglass rear? They make them snug fit rear bumpers and they fit really good… if that’s someone’s thing. Personally I’d rather keep all the chrome, then again that’s what I like to see on my hotrods. But like pappy said, “there’s an ass for every seat”. Lookin good man just thought I’d kick my 2¢ in on that rear bumper situation
Its definitely a option to go to a snug fit or to find a OEM bumper that fits better
@@HotRodGuyGarage or if he’s willing to go with a fiberglass rear bumper then may as well go to hacking on that bumper he already has and paint it
I think you are doing a great job, but I wouldn't want that car for free.
Understandable
That bumper delete is PUTRID.... I've been great with all you've done... but for the love of all that sane toss that thing out the front door...
It's not for everyone, it will fit what im doing from here
Can't help but think so much time and money into a car that's not that desirable.
It'll at least be a nice car when done
@@HotRodGuyGarage True that!
