It tells the story of when Thrym the king of giants stole mjollnir Thors hammer as he slept . it's in either in the prose or poetic eddas but i'm not sure which. skål

It is beleived to be based on a simular Arabic tale. Otherwise it would seem to be added to make fun of Thor, as his role is uncharacteristically argr. Scholars seem to agree it is not an authentic Viking Age tale.

OK it's been six years, yet still, I wonder if you checked for the story.
It tells of a day when Mjolnir was stolen from Thorr while he slept. So the giant king Thyrm demanded that Freyja be given to him to marry and he will return the hammer. So Thorr disguised himself as Freyja and went with Loki who transformed into a woman to attend the wedding with him.
Once there, Thorr acted all through the ceremony as Freyja while feasting monstrously on the food, and when it was time to give back the hammer, Thorr removed his disguise and slaughtered everyone at the feast, including Thyrm.

been reading alot of comments where people think the man in the cover is thor..... its norse mythology thats "tyr" idiots.... the band name lol
73a73yjesus yo tyr sacrificed a hand to bind fenrir, this guy has two hands so that doesn't work. Also Thor wields a hammer, has two goats, and has a story where he slaps (or lays low) thrym. So Thor confirmed. Just because tyr is their band name doesn't mean every album cover is going to feature the guy.
The Lay of Thrym is a story centered on Thor snd Loki retrieving Mjolnir after it was stolen by the Jotun Thrym. Tyr is one of many Norse gods, but he's not involved in this tale, the band isn't bound to only invoke him, the name brings to mind the Norse mythos as a whole.
So the real idiot is you
