As a police officer I thank you for the lesson you taught your kids as well as the rest of your fans. Before I was in a law enforcement I too got a couple of speeding tickets. I had no problem with getting caught in the wrong. Not everyone we catch is a "Bad guy" maybe you are just a good guy caught being a little bit bad.
Jason, when I was a kid I had a couple of cops who kind of took me under their wing. I never knew why, because I didn't give them any reason to. I was not always a good guy. They gave me the riot act when I deserved it, but they were always there when I needed them. I've never forgotten them. I'm sure I would've turned out different than I did. I'm 65 now, and I still remember those cops from my teenage years.
First off, I appreciate what you do. Secondly, I fully agree with what you said, I’m in the middle of a license suspension (due to accumulating too many demerit points from speeding tickets) right now, and I honestly accept that I broke the law, so I deserve it. Yet my friends (most of whom have never gotten tickets) will flip off and disrespect cops for no particular reason. It makes me sad that our society sees policemen just doing their jobs as the bad guys.

Matt... For future tiling jobs here is some info, you need to use your chalk line, measure distance between your walls in multiple locations and mark your center line and chalk it, and then do it again from the other walls so that you will end up with a cross(+) in the center of your room at this point lay your first four tiles in the corners of your cross and work your way out so that all cuts end up on the edges this will allow for all your jagged edges to be covered with trim and makes for a more semetrical look. And you dont end up with all your cuts on one wall.
You don't need a tile cutter for such a tiny job like that. Just use a grinder. It's often used only for complicated cuts like rounded corners and stuff, but it can be used for any kind of cut really, just takes longer and might not be as clean of a cut depending on your patience and steady hand.
Flame Beats, How do you like your SR9c? I have a SR9 that I've put literally thousands of 124gr handholds through in the last three years. I installed the Ghost Inc 3.5 trigger bar that shortened the reset, otherwise it's stock. That gun flat out shoots.
Flame Beats, that's cool. I think Ruger's one of those companies people underestimate when they think of guns. There's one I really want, a GP100 .357. I've shot a couple of them, and for a wheel gun they're very cool.
Matt you don't need a full on tile saw. They make tile cutters that score and then cleanly break the tile. We used one on my parents house and did the whole first floor, it's super easy. They're between 50 and 150 bucks. Also when you texture the mortar do it in all different directions so the tile won't shift in one direction.
he's going to need a saw at some point, he needs to cut the tiles just barely to cut the right angle for the tile to match the crooked step. Can't do that with a tile cutter. Also, professionally. You never put a cut facing out or against a showing grout line, unless if its done on a tile saw.
I laid tile for four years. And this was tough to watch, haha. but its ok, best way to learn is to just do it. Definitely should have followed a chalk line. Sadly you come to realize very soon that many rooms are hardly ever perfectly straight. You're constantly having to make corrections.
Bald Driver, you would typically soak tiles that are soft. Also comes down to the mortar and grout you're using. If they are lower quality tiles, soaking can prevent them from breaking as easy. Many different reasons behind it, i hardly soaked tiles when i worked. But if you arent confident, it doesnt hurt.

I would love them and I KNOW other guys here and the women who might do construction as well would buy them no problem. They would sell all year also, maybe not so much in winter but they would still sell. You are awesome....
Just a tip (and I haven’t watched the whole video so maybe I’m too late) ... don’t grout the outside edges. It’s a huge pain in the butt to grout in corners and if (when) the walls and/or floor move, it’ll crack along the bottom of the wall. Grab some silicon and your caulking gun, and run a bead of silicone around the edges. Another clue if you’re ever doing more tiling, buy a $10 diamond wheel for your angle grinder. Work slowly and gently until you get the feel for it and pretty soon you’ll be cutting all kinds of angles and notches etc. in your tiles. Wear ear protection lol. Cheers from down under! 🇦🇺
Liam93 seems there's a few of us out there. If I comment on any of the "Ranch" channels I usually state that I'm an Aussie. I watch vet ranch, this channel and out on the ranch (with Dr Lee), haven't watched demo ranch yet. Not sure if I can fit it in, I'm a bit of a UA-cam junkie these days, and watch so much stuff lol plus I'll just get jealous of his guns! Lol
Wormwood bush yes, good point about eye protection. I’m very careful with my ears but I tend to get a bit forgetful about eye protection. I’m aware of the risks but I just often forget to grab my glasses. Whereabouts in Vic are you mate? I’m about 150km East of central Melbourne, located in Gippsland. You mentioned getting jealous of Matt’s firearms - are you a shooter? I love shooting of all kinds, I hunt and I have firearms and a quality bow that I occasionally get time to play with lol
Matt, I just talked to my husband, who is a General Contractor. the only way to cut the tile is with a tile cutter, with water.....I have to say, I do dig the tile. I think it was a beautiful choice....Good luck on the grouting!!!!!
Use a grinder with a stone/tile disk on it. Does the job great and you can go round corners. Used them 4 years cutting pool surround tiles in Spain 4 yrs.Get edging strip round the lip. Based would of been cool branded or with a patch as its could B any manufacturers bag. Great vid as usual. TkEZ»UK
tiling hack you probably got swamped with tiling advice already, but take 5 seconds to read this one: To make the perfect cuts on your tiles, first take a board (or even better: cardboard) and cut it to the exact size of the gap that you need filled in (so between the installed tiles and the crooked wall). You can then glue whole tiles onto the board (using some light craft glue when using wood board to allow removal after cutting), crossing the edge. When all are in place, you can cut them all at once along the side of the board. Use the proper angle grinder disk for your tile. Stick some masking tape on them and draw the line to cut on that tape for extra ease and chipping prevention. You can do the cutting outside too, to prevent nasty ceramic dust all over your house.
that is a very nice compliment, Sean. Thank you very much :) Let's hope somebody at the Ranch reads it too and finds it equally useful. If so, it'll make it in the video and even more people can benefit from it... It also works for wall tiling in kitchens (I actually glue them permanently to the board for that application, and then fix the entire board as is. Might come in handy for rewiring or adding outlets) with the added bonus of tiling walls yet not having problems with gravity =D
Matt, the chalk line is so that you would have a reference line in the middle of the room. You actually start laying the tile in the middle of the room. This way if the room is not Square then it's easier to cut the tiles on the outside edge next to the wall.
Pro tip to tile. Start in he corner closest to 90degrees and make sure to put your tile directly against the wall. You don’t want to have a gap between the tile and tha wall for water to build up in and cause rot and you shouldn’t put grout against a wall because it will be extremely hard to remove without ruining the drywall after it has dried
uhh... it's a laundry room, it should be done like a kitchen. Seal everything including the baseboards to the wall and floor. There should never be any ways for water to get through at all unless it rises above the baseboards or skirting boards.
DaFuqq that’s what I’m saying, they were putting spacers between the base and the tile creating essentially a water channel that flows under the base. They need to push the tile against the wall and seal it to the base so water can’t seep in
The baseboard should really be removed before laying down tile, then replaced when the tile is finished. But good job in letting the kids help out with the project, it's the best way to learn, and will give them confidence with other things.
I loved the Renovation Ranch part of the video. Tell Lincoln that he looks so cool with his new mohawk haircut. That was a great choice. I absolutely love you and your family. Great videos guys.
Concerning the tile, always measure on one side of the room in the corner and mark the center, then the other side. Repeat with the other two walls snd cut 2 lines creating a cross in the middle of the room.Start your tile from these center lines and work your way out. No room is ever square so you will have cuts on the edges.Rent a wet saw to make these, you'll be glad you did.Extra masters tip: Most young tile setters don't know this but after you've sponged your grout a few times cleaning it off your tile, there is still a light film on the tile. Get something made out of burlap such as a feed bag and polish the tile with it and it takes the film right off. Love your vids.
Making back-to-school merch for your younger audience is pretty clever. I mean, it’s not revolutionary, but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a UA-camr do it. If I were still in school I’d want them.
I'm 42 and a university student again..I'm thinking I WANT THEM! You should see the looks i get just from having a folder with the silhouette of a glock & the words "my best subject is Triggernometry" on it.. 🤣
Couple of tiling tips. Find the center of the room and start tile. Cut the edges around the room. Also you are supposed to put mortar/thin set on the backs of the tiles also. That tile will come up over time.
Something i saw tilers do when they did my house, they first lay down a line of tiles running both ways (no adhesive) just to get a feel of the line. I see a lot of comments point to a grinder to cut the odd shapes, that will work fine, just a messy job. But its fun to learn on the job, many odd-jobs at my home im also learning as i go along.
On the tile issue - I am not a rep for this product, don't have any financial interest in it, but ran across it when I was doing a floor project on my own house. Look at Home Depot for the "Lash" system. It's not inexpensive, but it will give you an absolutely level (er, even as is your subfloor isn't level it just mimics that) floor. It will also give you very sore thumbs from my experience. Also, I know you were just trying to do the one room, but it is still cheaper to buy a 50 pound bag of mortar and mix it yourself in small batches that you can use within an hour or so time frame. Also, I have had a VERY cheap tile saw that has seen me through years and years of tile, travertine, concrete block, even cutting open some rocks that turned out to be geodes, as suspected. Literally, the cheapest wetsaw that they had. You get messy, but I don't see that as a big issue for me, and I suspect you don't either. Another suggestion on the tile. The reason you usually start from the middle is to make the cuts on both sides symmetrical. However, I think you did the right thing in this case by "squaring" (to the eye, anyway) the far wall, because that is what is going to be what folks see if they walk in or by. Last suggestion if you are doing more of this. Go with a very generic tile. WAY easier to chisel out and replace if a tenant drops a heavy object on one. (As an owner of rentals, this is from personal experience.)
Ken Davis speaking from experience, cheaper doesn't always mean it's a cheap product. The majority of the time when you buy those $500 tools over a $100, you're paying for the name. Thing is with those branded companies, they begin producing quantity over quality and it doesn't matter because people buy the brand. So they can afford to replace mediocre products that break easily because the overhead doesn't out weigh potential profits.
This is why you start in the middle of the room with a cross pattern. Or absolute ghetto is to start at the doorway and work towards the wall that is covered by appliances.
The Demo Ranch school supplies are awesome! The delivery was quick! I surprised my son with them; he's not a big fan of school, but he's a huge fan of Demolition Ranch! Maybe he will be inspired! Thank you for all your "Ranch" videos!!! P.S. Texas Aggie Class of 88! Whoop!! That ring gets my attention every time!!
Awesome man, any other youtuber would have pulled out there phone and made an entire video of how they were abused by a policeman. Thanks for not blowing it out of proportion. Thats why I love this channel!
I would paint the ones you get dismissed in court for lack of proper jurisdiction to subject matter, or lack of injured party.. *all rights reserved without prejudice* *U.C.C-1-308* .
Great video, Speedy Matt! Chalk the line half the width of a tile from the center of the room, always start in the middle...or that was how I was taught. Also, linoleum for crooked rooms...unless you can't talk the owner into using it...that's how I was taught. Always hire a pro to sand and finish wood floors...that's also how I was taught.
Working at a hardware store, I would have recommend you thinset. In my store, something like versabond or multiset for the reason it will dry faster. You can grout it in 6-8 hours later or the next day compare to your pre-mix thinset, which I consider more like mastic than thinset, dry in 2-3 days. Also with that size of tiles you don't really need to level it. Well just food for thought.
Got pulled over one time....told the office I was trying out for a delivery driver for dominoes......ticket....$135......memory......priceless.......we still laugh about it.....
Galaxy S7 lol maybe you should scrub through the comments a little bit more because the original comment, the one you copied had 68 likes last time I saw it so I do know the meaning of “literally” maybe you should learn the meaning of plagiarism
Been doing custom tiled showers and floors for 10 years. That was hard to watch but ya got to start somewhere. Couple things though.... always want to tape and mud your seams on your underlayment. 95% of the time you want to snap lines going through the center of your room both ways so you can find your layout from the center of the room. That way your tiles comes out evenly around the room. Like your vids man
You all are so much fun to watch. Also I’m not laughing at you but with you about the tiles. Also so glad you’re teaching your children to respect the law and police officers. Thanks for sharing this great video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
MATT chalk a line, get the first row straight and make the others straigh off that row, make cuts as needed when you get to the other side of the room or start off center depending on how off your walls are from being square
Just a tip when using mastic. use your caulk line to make a grid, put the mastic on the tile and not on the floor. If you ever want to learn how to lay tile just build a cheap end table and tile the top of it. Trial and error is the best way to learn what not to do lol.
OMGitsLMA my nephew got one in Beaumont tx doing 1mph over the speed limit, the officer claimed that the workers were present. Even though they were in there truck on the other side of the highway. Cost him $700
I’m a general contractor and I use a chalk line probably on average 5-10x a day. Just a few tips, wrap the line around your finger by the box so you can pull it tight enough, if you are by yourself, use a nail and the other end to hold the chalk line, if your line with be too long to snap, then snap it very feint and then use a hand to put part of the line against the wall and use your other hand to snap that section, you might have to nail both ends for that, just wrap the end by the box around the nail.
I had a mohawk for quite a few years and grew out of it eventually. He is gonna have a great time with it and you definitely did the right thing letting him get it now instead of when he is 18
Hey Matt! Check with an equipment rental place. They may have a used tile saw for sale. Usually decent condition. That’s the way I did my entire bathroom and came out way cheaper.
You’re that guy who slams on the breaks in the fast lane when you see a cop..... from one driver to another..... just move over and if I get pulled over then so be it... but don’t hog the highway cause you’re chicken
The main reason for following a line, is so you can start in the middle and work out to the edge, after you’ve worked out how many tiles. You want to work it so that you have a decent sized cut on the edges. It doesn’t matter if the rooms not square. Get a tile scribe, not a wet cutter.

I’m with you, definitely need some construction pencils
Yes!!
Yess I would use thoses
This channel is so addictive. Even more than Demo ranch.
That's because it's a vlog channel.
Yeah, but it's the only vlog channel I watch.
The reason is still the same, though!?
Andrea, you are so right. I originally got hooked on Demolition Ranch, but this channel really makes my week.
Aren't you the same dude who replied to my comment in today's Hickok video?
You should name this thing the outlaw now
The Cigar Booth ...why? He stopped...
sykwookiee its just a cool name dude for a car. No need for you to be all technical.
Perfect!!
Lol he got pulled over...getting pulled over isn’t anything to be called outlaw over.
GoodTimeFishing your fun at party's aren't you...
Contract92 and eye protection! I learnt that the hard way! Hi from Victoria dude.🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Ear protection, eye protection or a clear face shield. Maybe a dust mask if you'r sensitiv
FINALLY! was starting to think no aussies watched his vlog channel.cheers from WA. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺!
Lol Lincoln said, “ hey your a good guy!” 😃
Lincoln (the description)
Best UFC name yet
Use a grinder with a stone/tile disk on it. Does the job great and you can go round corners. Used them 4 years cutting pool surround tiles in Spain 4 yrs.Get edging strip round the lip. Based would of been cool branded or with a patch as its could B any manufacturers bag. Great vid as usual. TkEZ»UK
I think meres still mad about the truck
MDM Gaming really ? I didn’t notice ...
tiling hack
you probably got swamped with tiling advice already, but take 5 seconds to read this one:
To make the perfect cuts on your tiles, first take a board (or even better: cardboard) and cut it to the exact size of the gap that you need filled in (so between the installed tiles and the crooked wall).
The first time I saw the car, I knew it was inevitable. Haha.
Texan Pride I'm waiting for the crash video, just a matter of time.
Pull your trim boards up first so you can put them over the tile to hide all the mistakes!
I call speeding citations “extra tax for going fast”
Making back-to-school merch for your younger audience is pretty clever. I mean, it’s not revolutionary, but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen a UA-camr do it.
If I were still in school I’d want them.
I'm 42 and a university student again..I'm thinking I WANT THEM!
You should see the looks i get just from having a folder with the silhouette of a glock & the words "my best subject is Triggernometry" on it.. 🤣
The only thing missing is a ✏ sharpener other than that I'd buy one and I don't actually NEED one but still 😈😎
The castle side hilarious.
Ever get the feeling by the time you finish a project you know enough to start it?
Jim Vandemoter Life
This is why you start in the middle of the room with a cross pattern.
9:02 I died when you said “I remember my first time I chalked my first line” 😂😂😂 exactly what I was thinking in my head lol
I love how Mere is very disappointed with Matt at the beginning. Send him to jail ;) But I am with Lincoln, Matt is still a good guy
Only you would get pulled over in that little car matt
matthew freshwater jr no anyone would get pulled over in that thing
matthew freshwater jr Says the bugatti poser
What are you talking about, that thing is a cop magnet.....
If the goblin is a cop magnet what is the 4x4 ultra than???
Nah, pretty sure I would get pulled over in that car as well
I think Mere is real mad about the Truck :D
Going to college for the first time will never have looked better than now! Thanks man, can't wait for the merch!
Awesome man, any other youtuber would have pulled out there phone and made an entire video of how they were abused by a policeman. Thanks for not blowing it out of proportion. Thats why I love this channel!
Should paint a tally of how many tickets you get on the side of the car like the kills on a fighter plane
ArrowSmith95 just clear coat the tickets to the car lol
I would paint the ones you get dismissed in court for lack of proper jurisdiction to subject matter, or lack of injured party..

*U.C.C-1-308* .
The castle side of the trowel!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
BUSTED!!! Matt’s a led foot.
No one actually says “I remember my first time chalking a line,, u noob!” lol 😂
Damn lol mere got personal that hurt me 😂😂 2:30
Got pulled over one time....told the office I was trying out for a delivery driver for dominoes......ticket....$135......memory......priceless.......we still laugh about it.....
Also:
"You know the reason why I pulled you over?"
"Because I let you?"
...!
Commas
Galaxy S7 oh nice you literally copied another comment from this exact comment section
Maclain Trepanier Oh nice, another smartass who doesn't know the actual meaning of the word "literally" ...
Like your vids man
Your family is such a treat to watch.
You all are so much fun to watch. Also I’m not laughing at you but with you about the tiles. Also so glad you’re teaching your children to respect the law and police officers. Thanks for sharing this great video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Truck and Stupid are polar opposites Mere.
Addies laugh when you showed her the pic made my whole day better. !!
Addie's the best!
(not in the sense how Matt excessively misuses this phrase, but seriously)
Still Addies the best
That's what I said, isn't it?
MATT chalk a line, get the first row straight and make the others straigh off that row, make cuts as needed when you get to the other side of the room or start off center depending on how off your walls are from being square
Just a tip when using mastic. use your caulk line to make a grid, put the mastic on the tile and not on the floor. If you ever want to learn how to lay tile just build a cheap end table and tile the top of it. Trial and error is the best way to learn what not to do lol.
You guys did good for your first time
Should've gone with a vinyl /lino floor 🤣
Christopher MacLennan, that’s what I was thinking. It’s way faster and easier than tile.
U should have started the tile next to the door so the cut tiles would be less noticeable
They had to start from the far side so that they could get out. Apparently you aren't supposed to walk on the ceramic time while laying it.
Good luck getting out
Start at the door and do towards one side. Then you have a whole half to work in.
Love this side of the channel
Now you see why you put center lines. Work out to the edges and put your cuts aginst the walls.
When I was Lincoln's age I wanted a mohawk not knowing fully what it was and started crying when the barber began shaving the sides of my head.
Stopped watching another video mid video to watch this one
Work zone is double the fine in texas.
Depends on the officer, he can give a "normal" ticket if there's no workers
OMGitsLMA my nephew got one in Beaumont tx doing 1mph over the speed limit, the officer claimed that the workers were present. Even though they were in there truck on the other side of the highway. Cost him $700
Yes, that is also the law here in Minnesota.
In Florida it specifies doubled if workers are present but if in Texas it's double even if no workers aren't present then holy molly they are strict
Jmv _8314 bullshit..... I got a ticket for doing 51 over (96 in a 45) and it was a little over 300 total.....
He is gonna have a great time with it and you definitely did the right thing letting him get it now instead of when he is 18
Work zone ticket means double the fine doesn't it?
Kevin Hosea usually it does in most states
Kevin Hosea usually only when workers are present though!!
Kevin Hosea yeah
That’s what I thought🤔
My nephew got one in Beaumont tx doing 1 mph over speed limit. The so called workers was on the other side of the highway. The ticket cost him $700
Since it's a rental, should have just rolled out some vinyl and been done w/ it. LVT is inexpensive and durable, for future reference.
...Cops are good guys... (demonetized)
Lol I wouldn't be surprised unfortunately
@@wrliggin2 lol looking back at this at modern day,
Hey Matt! Check with an equipment rental place. They may have a used tile saw for sale. Usually decent condition. That’s the way I did my entire bathroom and came out way cheaper.
Yay for Taya Bela jewelry!!! I’ve bought so much of her jewelry. It’s always so unique ♥️
21:12 hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha
I can’t 😂😂😂😂
Look how he got scared from the screaming
xD
Dude love the back pack I'm going to tell my dad right away
Hahaha! “Stupid truck”, good one Mere! He should have kept the car.
I laid tile for several years, watching yall try to lay tile was probably one of the hardest things I've done lately.. Lol! Always chalk your lines.
You're so right, Matt!
Police are out there just doing their job!
grinder with a stone disk
You have me wanting school supplies now! But i don't need school supplies...or do i?☺
Number 1 rule of speeding, never pass an officer.
Jeffrey Dooley no matter how slow they are going.
Yuppppp
Helps to you know you're speeding though.
You’re that guy who slams on the breaks in the fast lane when you see a cop..... from one driver to another..... just move over and if I get pulled over then so be it... but don’t hog the highway cause you’re chicken
Not quite!!!!!!!!!!
The main reason for following a line, is so you can start in the middle and work out to the edge, after you’ve worked out how many tiles. You want to work it so that you have a decent sized cut on the edges.
It doesn’t matter if the rooms not square.
Get a tile scribe, not a wet cutter.
Lincoln Gets A Mohawk.!! AWESOME.!!
If you angle it parallel to door it looks off put it diagonal
That's in fact a better advice than the 23 threads about how to do it parallel
Galaxy S7 my dad is a contractor that remodels 4 million dollar penthouses in Hawaii
Nice. Does he need a help?
Also put them offset so their not in strait rows
No
Should have struck a line down the center and started on that line. That way, you end up the same on both sides of the room.
Would have looked nicer but he would have had to cut twice as many tiles.
Your tile choice breaks up the lines so most people won't even notice things being out of square.
I swear I just love this family more and more
That was a great video. Way to go Matt. You are a good Dad!
