      It took me 6 hours the other day to do 2 layers of a nude base, a cat eye, top, chrome, multi function gel (so the chrome doesn't chip) then a couple of 4 point stars and dots on each nail, and finally top coat and 2 gems on each nail. I'd already done my prep and builder the night before, I spent an hour just buffing the builder somehow 🤔

      A quick question, how do UV/led lamps work? I haven't really seen only LED lamps, do they have different settings you can pick from? Or are they a mix? Also same for polish some are marked as UV some as UV/led, does it mean they only work with the lamp stated?

    • @Kyuupire

      @@mordecaiissad8529 They both work by causing a chemical reaction in the nail polish. LED lamps emit very little UV, which is saver, and cure polish faster. There are LED only lamps on the market, they can't cure UV polish and are usually more expensive than UV lamps. UV/LED lamps have both UV and LED bulbs, they can cure all polishes. LED polish can technically be cured with an UV lamp but they might cure poorly. It's best to stick with whatever curing method is specified on the polish.

    I used to do nails for the ladies in the nursing home...i promise these lights for ONE finger at a time is PERFECT!!!!!!!!! Theres no mess ups for those that have to potty, forget and touch the nails, bum against stuff...its basically insta-dry so they can enjoy cute designs often, and ENJOY the opportunity to get them done...
    If you have the time and the supplies... Just spontaneously go to your local nursing home and volunteer to do ladies nails, your heart would be sooo happy and you meet some amazing funny ladies in there. Adopt a few more grandparents... These make it sooo easy and your heart will thank you!!

      I'm trying so hard not to be petty, but that one cracked me up too! I'm amazed by how often I still hear things like, "cool, calm, and collective", "irregardless", "I could care less", "one in the same", and "for all intensive purposes". Switching gears a bit, I also can't believe some people still think that our blood is blue until it comes into contact with oxygen, that if you shave the hair will grow back thicker, and that if you swallow gum it'll take 7 years to digest.
      That being said, *by no means* am I suggesting that I never make mistakes. There are probably plenty of things I say and spell wrong all of the time, I just don't know about them yet. Hell, I'm 48 years old and I just found out "everytime" isn't a word.🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm thankful to the person who corrected me... I'll never make that mistake again.👍

    Ugh. So many negative comments.
    Le Mini Macaron, please pin this if it will help.
    1) Yes, this video was a paid collaboration with @thegraytergood. She was compensated so they don’t need to tag her.
    2) This is a company page, they don’t need to disclose that it’s an ad because everything on their page is an ad for themselves obviously.
    3) The lamp is LED, not UV. (LEDs still emit UVA rays mainly and some UVBs. While both types can lead to skin cancer, UVBs are generally worse.)
    4) Just because the lamp is small doesn’t mean it will not fully cure the gel polish, it definitely will. It works like a dream, I’ve tried it. They also sell a larger lamp if you need one.
    5) If you avoid getting uncured gel on your skin and follow directions for applying and curing properly then you should not develop an allergy to gel polish in the future.
    6) You don’t have to use gel if you don’t want to learn, no one is forcing you. Try it if you want, don’t if you don’t.
    7) You will not be fast at applying gel right away, there is a learning curve like with anything, even regular nail polish.
    8) This product is available in many Targets, please research the one near you first to avoid an unnecessary trip. They also still sell these kits online.
    I think that covers almost every comment I’ve seen so far…have a great day everyone!

      Yea this video def made me nervous, especially bc I've seen in her comments before people talking about how "gel takes to long to dry" she even does this whole video about those comments 🫠😖 she didn't talk about any of the basic risks, like under curing or getting gel on your skin, how prep is essential, & anyone with experience can tell that tiny lamp is not curing anything, esp bc hardly any beginner is going to do layers thin enough. & her audience is def geared towards ppl with nail polish experience but not gel experience. Gel requires research, its not a product u can just buy on a whim & use so the product is anxiety inducing and so is the video 😅😅

I agree with the argument curing being faster than drying but learning a new skill where precision is key takes a very long time in the beginning, if you account for the application it's still a lot of time. I'm not even on their side, I just started doing gel polish myself as well, but it still took/takes me around 1h/hand 😅 not everyone has that kinda time and patience to get better/faster at it.

    Haha, good shit. As someone who does zero things to my nails, single nail curing would drive me nuts, but you're still right!

    • @eileen58
      @eileen58 2 місяці тому

      Single nail curing is actually pretty nice because if you’re in the middle of something and are going by hand instead of by nail you have to quickly finish painting and cure everything before you can do what you need to do. If you do one nail at a time as soon as that nail is cured you can do what you need to do and then get back to doing your nails without smudging or rushing and having to restart. Wicked convenient imo!

    I love the individual lights. I feel like my nails cure so much better than using a big one. I’ve been doing gels for years and I’d take a small light over then big one any day. Beautiful work by the way!

    I'm doing my own nails at home with a lamp and 20 minutes would be a dream. If I'm lucky I'm done in 3 hours (incl. filing off old polish, nail prep, base coat, rubberbase, a gazillion layers of colour and nailart)

      I just did mine and I wore it for two whole weeks and a half I had to remove it myself
      Just one little chip on one finger but that’s because I was brutally opening something lol
      So I don’t understand how some of you can’t make it last, this is my first time using gel 🤔
      There has to be something going wrong when applying

    • @geekmyths
      @geekmyths 2 місяці тому +7

      @@lavenderiaa6805 it could just be differences in nails. generally gel polish peels really quickly for me because my nails are more oily. different formulas just work differently on people.

    As someone that used to use gel and now uses rubber the first application is good but then you can't retouch it. You have to take this off, them prepare and then apply the gel again to all the nails so after the send time the process gets longer

    Or spend $1 on a gel color on Amazon and $19 on a full size light. It’s possible to do your thumb, put under the light and do all four fingers at the same time and cure without messing it up.
