John is a tough sob, with a heart of gold! I took my foster son, who was about 6 at the time, to the drag races at Bradenton florida almost 30 years ago. There was a huge crowd outside of Johns trailer waiting for him. I had my foster son on my shoulders so he could see. When John came out, my foster son was so excited he yelled "hi John Force"! He pushed his way through the crowd, took him off my shoulders, and carried him around for 15 minutes . Made that kids whole year! God bless John Force! Thoughts and prayers!🙏

Wearing his Castrol crew jersey in the pits, John spotted him and instantly we were invited into his pit and what would become my son's biggest heros heart, a great man, father, racer and dare I say friend to everyone, especially Alex.. John told us to come back next year and he would welcome us once again.. Being a man of his word, he did just that.. Alex was so happy when he was treated like a vip by Mr Force.. his hero.... We made three more races over the years, and each time it was like watching old friends meet again.. they clicked together... I was a proud papa... Unfortunately my son Alex was killed in a fiery automobile accident in August of 2018... I lost my best friend that day... I'm am so proud he got to meet his hero and become buddies with him, that meant a lot to my son.. I needed to see this. I needed to see John getting out and being conscious and alert. When first seeing the first couple of lines of the headline story I thought of Dale Earnhardt and feared the worse. It was such a relief to find out it wasn't the case.
me too! I watched the wreck a few times and keep hearing he is still in an ICU but i never realized he was so alert and got out on his own, well with help but this was a relief to me as well.
Wow I'm barely 50 and I whine about 'getting old'....I'll shut my trap forever and never say stuff like that again. AGE IS MEANINGLESS. Spirit heart courage, a love for life and commitment to excellence in whatever you do are the only metrics that matter. What more proof do you need than John Force??? ABSOLUTE LEGEND
I was working during the race, and heard that he had been in a bad crash. But further news just wasn't coming out. The race was on tv that night. I always have it set to record. Like you said, once I saw him sit up, I felt much better.
Glad to see him awake and alert. Pathetic to see the media immediately stick a camera and microphone in the face of someone in shock who just witnessed their mentor and teammate go through a horrible crash and get ambulanced off.
John Force is synonymous with Old-School Drag Racing! He’s got enough money that he doesn’t NEED to race these Ultra-High Performance Funny Cars; he does it because that’s what he loves to do! He cares about what he does and understands and accepts 100% the responsibilities that are in his shoulders. To this man, great job sir. When you accomplish incredible things you make yourself a target for people who are angry, bitter and jealous. John has been no exception but he’s put the work in and deserves everything that he’s got.
I had the fortunate opportunity to sit next to John on a flight from San Francisco to Dallas. I grew up watching him race, so I was meeting one of my heroes. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. We talked about the new car they were building for the reality show and had a great flight! Great to see that he pulled through this one.
I have met John several times over 30 years. I would like to call him a friend ❤. Robin and I wish John and the team and the family the very best... Like someone said above I lost it when I saw the hit. I don't know what else to say.. God Bless ❤❤❤

He had already mentioned retiring. This could just be enough to make him do it. But I hope that he comes back for at least one more race or season. Get well soon, John!
My Lord, this guy is one tough Racer and have seen him survive worst... There was a time when he was flown out on a med-evac and heard the following year he had the same company fly him back into the track for that years competition...
The man raised four daughters. He used to say in the opening for his TV show that all his terrible crashes paled in comparison to raising them! 😂 It wouldn't surprise me if he still thinks that. What a legend!
I've been a John Force fan since the day I got into drag racing. Went to Maple Grove back in 97 and actually stayed in the same hotel as most of the drivers. Went to the hotel bar after Friday qualifying and him and his crew were in the bar. We ended up hanging out with him till about 2 in the morning. Absolute blast. Let us back in his pit the next day. He actually took my phone from me as i was talking to my dad and introduced himself and talked to my dad for several minutes. I know this man will recover from this and probably be back in the car before the season is over. Get well John.
I've been watching NHRA on and off for most of my life - amazing to see him out there and as competitive as ever at 75. Hope he's alright after the accident
John cant be forced down!!! I love watching him!!!! He is such a driven man at the wheel!!!! Stay strong John... Prayers for him and his family... 🙏🙏🙏😢😢❤❤❤.....
His name says it all...force. A force to recon with and never question. The greatest funny car driver ever period!!! 75 years old and still smoking the competition. Nothing can ever keep that man down
He won the race, car blows up, he controls it for the most part, going down track. Sits up on the stretcher looking like he might wanna go check out his car. That’s tough!
Glad he was able to get up and talking! I’m sure his body is gonna be sore from the impacts he took! Take your time John and heal we will see you when you’re ready to get back out there! Praying for you, your family and friends! 🙏
I'm curious as to why the on-board safety system never deployed the parachutes when the engine exploded. You can clearly see that at least one is still in its pack as the car goes back across the track. Having one or both chutes out might've scrubbed a little speed and slightly lessened the impact with the wall. That'll be an interesting conversation between the NHRA and JFR. Hopefully John recovers super quickly.
I had the same thoughts. After Scott Kalitta's unfortunate explosion and fatal 300 MPH crash out the end of the track several years ago, that system was supposed to prevent the same thing from ever happening. I've seen it misfire once bringing a good run to an early end, but that's better than crashing. I suspect the explosion may have severed power connections to the system and/or the parachute squibs before it could function. Will be an interesting conversation. Put it back in the hands of the engineers. I'd love to see the results of a post-crash analysis of that system and why it did not deploy the chutes. Prayers for John and his family and for lessons learned to make the sport even more safe.
I don't know the system set up. But having seen some other systems that are computer based, that explosion may have taken out thr PC that would have controlled the chute deployment.
Such a safety system should be based on embedded microcontrollers with redundancy, memory error correction, functional safety hardware and software plus an internal battery backup with enough energy to fire the chutes. The same kind of mission critical system that would be on an airplane or spacecraft is called for. There are safety standards for passenger vehicle electronics down to the wipers and radio because a failure in anything can potentially lead to unsafe operation. Designing a system for a funny car would be interesting and a challenge to give the maximum safety and reliability along with being small enough and light weight. I'd love to learn more and talk with someone with influence.
@@BrianHammill If you look closely to the car when it comes back across the track after the first hit, it sure looks like the red "remove before flight" flags are still pinned to the parachutes, which would render the safety system useless. If that's the case, someone f**ked up at the highest level!
Hope the old man is okay. I went to school with Courtney back in Yorba Linda and my dad raced Super Stock so John was always a topic of conversation around our house. I haven't followed racing much in the last 20 years and I'm just amazed to find out that he's still racing at his age, let alone tough enough to come away from a wreck like that.
I've never been to California. In Indiana we consider Indianapolis the "racing capital of the world." However, I can't help but notice the plethora of phenomenal drivers across all disciplines of motor racing that have come out of California.
No doubt it was a horrible wreck, but you're wrong. They design and build those cars to ensure the driver's best chance at surviving. He is tough. With God's help, he will recover. He has a lot of people praying for him.
The worst day of my life was to watch him blow up like that,He is and always will be my hero, I was glad to see him lift his head and smile,,Prayers to you john
John going to be sore for a while. I just grazed the wall at 180 MPH in my low budget blown alcohol funny car one time, and that left me bruised, sore, and a fractured thumb from holding on to the steering wheel. I can only imagine slamming the wall at 300 MPH.
I would like to think so however with no updates and silence from all generally not a good sign. If you look at the video closely and the stills of car on the tow truck the frame and cage are clearly bent and possibly broken. Wishing all the best
@@huracanmedia1661 That is my thoughts and fears as well. Usually when someone crashes, you get SOMETHING from reps/news/family/driver by now. With someone as high profile as John, I thought the family/john etc would want to get word out as quickly as possible that nothing serious is wrong. The crickets on this is frightening for me. I mean it is absolute silence in close to 24 hour period. That, in my history of these crashes and updates coming out, is unusual especially for someone as high profile as John Force. Sure he sat up on the stretcher, but it could have been him in shock and pain breaking through the shock not allowing him to lie down. I hope and pray he is ok but like you, the silence is frightening at this point. The only thing we have heard is immediately after the crash and all we have heard from that is, John Force was injured and flown out of the drag strip. That was a seriously bad blow from the side and internal damage could have easily happened. I am worried that is for sure.
Not much to update. He was flown to the hospital alert and moving around. They wanted to make sure John was OK. Seeing as how Brittany was back at the track for the second round of Top Fuel and Austin won Funny Car, I wouldn't worry. Brittany wouldn't have raced if the crash was serious.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you John Force.May God give you a speedy and full recovery. From 1320 Pauly cause that's where I am at the finish line!
He's #2 in points. Unless Laurie and Ashley force him, he won't retire. He has said he can see the end of the line, and Austin Prock will replace him. That's a pretty good choice!
I wouldn't blame him. He has done more for this sport than just about any human. If he decides this is enough and wants to walk away into retirement he has more than earned it. Just hope he's ok.

@@BrianHammill If you look closely to the car when it comes back across the track after the first hit, it sure looks like the red "remove before flight" flags are still pinned to the parachutes, which would render the safety system useless. If that's the case, someone f**ked up at the highest level!
Went to a show at his shop, in OC with the family!! Spoke with him, what a class act! Praying for a full and complete recovery!
John Force is one tough 75-year-old. Not too many people would have survived that horrific wreck. Praying for a speedy recovery.
No doubt it was a horrible wreck, but you're wrong. They design and build those cars to ensure the driver's best chance at surviving. He is tough. With God's help, he will recover. He has a lot of people praying for him.
Austin was emotional I knew how he feel
My prayers are with you John, you are truly blessed!
The man is a beast! He’s up and moving so that’s a great sign. Thank GOD it wasn’t worse.
The worst day of my life was to watch him blow up like that,He is and always will be my hero, I was glad to see him lift his head and smile,,Prayers to you john
He’s a force to be reckoned with stay strong force family ❤lifelong fan
Get well soon, John. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Live or die, John Force walks among Kings!
Love John❤prayers and best wishes for good health God bless and many blessings
He is the Goat of the N.H.R.A. !!! THANKS for all u do for the sport !!
never been happier that the Force team has such a commitment to safety and innovation in safe design.
@@lilbitofjoy6130 Sadly agree
Not much to update. He was flown to the hospital alert and moving around. They wanted to make sure John was OK.
Seeing as how Brittany was back at the track for the second round of Top Fuel and Austin won Funny Car, I wouldn't worry. Brittany wouldn't have raced if the crash was serious.
I first saw JF run at OIC in So Cal when I was 16, I’ll just say that was many years ago,,,,; double fidgets…. He’s one tough man; thanks for all the ear busting hard and fast runs, and never forgetting the fans !!!
Mr JF. 🙏🏻To you and your family. Its nothing with what ever you do for the future. You have nothing else to prove. You're in the books. Time to enjoy life and what you have
But that's EXACTLY what he's doing! This is his PASSION!
Such a Legend.. Glad to see he's still alive.. God Bless you John 🙏🏼
>> KNOWN ((JOHN )) SINCE LIONS DRAG STRIP DAYS.. > LIKE 1972.. OK.. - WE ALL LOVE JOHN.. BUT.. THIS IS LIKE THE 2nd. , 3rd,, OR 4th,, accident in the last 2 -- 3 years.. >> * I have lost count..>> Hey John.. Just Sayin.. WE DO NOT WANT To Lose You... OK.... > MAYBE THERE IS REASON?? THAT YOUR NOT TELLING US. > SO,,, PLEASE , MAKE THE CORRECT MOVE FOR YOU,,, YOUR FAMILY,,,, DRAG RACING,, YOUR FANS.. YOUR LIFE... LOVE YA..!!
This punctuation is certifiably insane.
@@RyanEverson16r YES, IT IS!! : )
@@RyanEverson16rthe day john quits it would be the end of him ! This is his passion! Go Johnny go 🫡🇺🇸

He may have thought he was Driving his old Peterbilt back in the old days!
God Bless you John for a speedy recovery! Thoughts and prayers to you and your family!
It's hard seeing John like that ...when back in day he was all ways out of the car before most even got to him....
Stay tough John, prayers for quick healing!🙏🙏🙏
Ol John is tougher than a 2 dollar steak.
Stop it lol 😅 God bless🙏
My thoughts and prayers go out to you John Force.May God give you a speedy and full recovery. From 1320 Pauly cause that's where I am at the finish line!
Many prayers and much love for one hell of a driver ❤
What a great person my prayers go out to you he’s a true legend and thanks for the autograph in Texas years ago you made my day
Scariest part is that he may consider retiring. Not yet John please. We all need & love you!
Prayers & best wishes from AUSTRALIA to the legend John Force.
This dude is a modern day bad-ass. Force for V.P. !!!
Wishing you a full healthy recovery
