The reason the audience was so “stiff” was because they were asked not to make any noise while the band was playing. They didn’t want people yelling or clapping during the quiet moments in the song. Usually crowds at a Deep Purple show were lively.
They are one of the creators and pioners of hard rock and heavy metal along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.
Comparison with Zeppelin is quite legitimate. Them, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were contemporaries and regarded as the pioneers of British Heavy Rock. The 3 bands all brought elements to the table, which would eventually form the building blocks of heavy metal as we know it
They were known as The Unholy Trinity!
"There are only two kinds of music: good music and the other kind". Duke Ellington.
Man I'm glad I was 18 during the 70s in Detroit. Best rock music EVER!!
This Is pure talent!! They are SINGER/MUSICIANS, this Is the reality of fact
I love that tempo change in the middle of the solo
Now you've gotta dig down the Purple rabbit hole. Anything off Purple in Rock and you'll definitely see the heavy rock. And of course Smoke on the Water which is their biggest hit. Yeah. Peace
Congratulations! You have just heard the greatest band ever for your first time!!! Still going strong, next album is due next month. Kepp listening, rock on!
Yeah I saw that new music video and man it is really good. They did have to doctor Ians voice a little but damn either way it is a really good song.
Epic masterpiece👌
You’re correct to wonder. Every band aimed to be a singles band at the dawn of the British Invasion and Beatlemania. When the music began to evolve, the hippie culture took over and the idea of albums became the standard, lots of bands couldn’t produce hits. The bands that made more adult fare became the foundation of rock. Deep Purple, the who, The Rolling Stones, and so own became decades long stars while Herman’s Hermits and the Dave Clark Five fell by the wayside ❤
Great song and reaction
DP were already stars, and Black Sabbath were getting ready to put out their first album.
Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple the holy triad of rock music🤘
You mean The Unholy Trinity of Rock.
LOL, "holy triad". As the other guy said, it's "unholy trinity".
One of the really talented groups of its time, all the musicians are exceptional. "Heavy metal" was in its infancy when this was recorded, so this was not so much influenced as it was an influence itself. This would fit more into the hard blues rock category than heavy metal, but these guys could really play tight, and would be an influence on later musicians for years to come.
The end as you noted is controlled chaos... but just look at the skill required to make it come together as nicely as it did.
Ritchie Blackmore, lead guitarist, is one of LOVEBITES’ Miyako’s big influences.
Holaaa!!
Deep Purple ha tenido varias formaciones, pero, la más exitosa es M II . Con el gran Ian Gillan como vocalista ( tenía un rango muy alto);
Abrazos 🤗
💜💜💜💜💜
🇨🇱🇬🇧 🙂
❤
That chaotic ending always makes me think of A Day in the Life by The Beatles.
Good reaction. Ian Gillan is one of the best.
Ian One of the best? Nooo he's the best
Already a like for the 2112 backdrop
Glad you are discovering DP. Go Green!
Ops i thought you were referring to a different type of DP 🫣🤫
@@oneoddsockk lol, that kind of dp is on a different type of site!
Deep Purple was the beginning of metal, but when you could still understand the words. Ian Gillan also blows Robert Plant out of the water. I was 21 in 1970, and these are the bands I grew up on. Both Deep Purple and Zep were astonishing, so no shade to Plant, but this was music that was undreamed of.
Dude.. just happened upon your channel.. highway star-space Truckin-black Knight - lazy-and flight of the rat are some more purple gems…
I love it...the face you made when he decided to hit that first super high note was priceless. Other tracks Burn, Mistreated, Space Truckin, Highway Star, Lazy , Hush and everyone and their mama would crucify me if I didn't say Smoke on the Water even though not one of my personal favs except for what the bass player is laying down in that tune because without that it would be a boring song and before everybody hates me music is subjective. Also realize in that list of tracks there are 3 different singers and two different bassists.
I have never heard a bad song from these guys.
The song is about the Viet Nam war, so there were a lot of deliberate choices to reflect the anguish of war and the chaos of battle.
Child in mine ??
Fixed it 🤣
Child in Time ( También algunas veces se le llamó "niños a salvo")
Saludos cordiales desde Chile a todos los adictos a Deep
