Shemp is my favorite Stooge! I didn't know much about his career before the Three Stooges. This was wonderful! I hope you'll do more bios like this one.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Although, I do love Moe, Larry, and Curly, I have a soft spot in my heart for Shemp. I must admit that I have a crush on him lol. Always have and always will. It is a shame that Shemp is overshadowed and that there's some hate for him. However, I love the Three Stooges and may they all rest in peace.
Loved the bio. I didn't know much about the Stooges. I think I've seen a few episodes as a kid. I have more appreciation for them now that I'm older. Shemp looked like a great actor. May he rest in peace.
All the boys were great and Curly was a great physical comic but Shermp in my mind was the best. He had the most range as a comic actor and his mannerisms were so original. Shemp had incredible improvisation skills and of course had a full solo career and worked with just about everyone in Hollywood. Sometimes as a comic lead, support or cameo and even a few dramatic type roles. Whatever was needed, Shemp could provide.
@@DaveTravelsinTime Shemp certainly had more time and opportunities to build on his raw talent than Curly did and it shows. Curly was a blazing comet that burned brightly but all too briefly.

I have a book on the life of Three Stooges. Shemp appeared on an Abbott & Costello film "In the Navy", he played the role of a Navy cook. He also appeared on a W.C. Fields "The Bank Dick" He played a counterman at a diner. He did a film titled "Pittsburgh" with John Wayne. He passed away while riding in the back of a taxicab after attending a boxing match at the Olympic arena. He was 60 years old.
@@Whittdocs Your welcome. Shemp had a son named Mortimer. He died of cancer at the age of 45 in 1972. Another interesting fact that is mentioned in the book was that Shemp was drafted into the United States Army during World War I. He was given a medical discharge being we was a bed wetter.

Shemp has always been my favorite stooge. His style of comedy and performance is most akin to mines and I'm so happy there are more people out there who appreciate him and his contributions to the act. I love all of them though.
Seems like most people's favorite Stooge is Curly but I always liked Shemp. I used tonwatch the episodes on T.V. Land. But they mostly showed the Curly shorts which I enjoyed just as well it wasn't until I bought the complete shorts collection that I seen all the Shemp shorts. He was involved in a car accident either in his late teens or early 20s and I believe that he never drove again after that. Also he wouldn't fly on planes either, and I don't think that he liked riding on trains either. Always wondered why the 3 brothers weren't buried beside each other?
That’s my favorite episode. You just made my day brother.!! This is absolutely fabulous as a kid I would watch this with my dad. It’s funny that I’m 30 years old but I watched the reruns on TV land channel.
So many say he’s their least favorite because of curly, but they need to pay attention to him and remember he was at the beginning. Personally he cracks me up!
I have always loved Shemp for some reason. I'm in my late 40s and watched the stooges as a child before and after school and loved it. I like them all but always really liked Shemp, the hair in the face was always great. Still makes me laugh out loud.
I grew up watching the three stooges on wmht in the 70's, always looked forward to watching them, also, Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello and the Marx Brothers, good times.
This was awesome, thank you! I loved watching them when I was a kid, they always made me laugh. Ah, the simpler times. Thanks for memory lane 🥰 Love, hugs & God Bless you 💕💕

You are so right about Shemp. He was very underrated. When you think of the Stooges; you just think Larry, Moe and Curley. Not Shemp. I am glad to have learned about his life. 😃
I really appreciate you watching. That means a lot. I hope this video gets pushed out. Anymore, I rarely have one make it out. But, I’ll keep trying! Thanks again.
@@Whittdocs That's probably because of all the knock-off channels imitating our channels poorly. Watermarks on photos, computer generated narration and false titles claiming someone has died when they haven't. I'm still hoping the cream will rise.
