Yep, Tim only became “Masky” when certain scenes happen, like when some operator or “Hoodie” appearances trigger it. He also isn’t very sane in that state ofc, he just kinda *tackles*
Sometimes people believe the Tim that the creepypasta fandom was turned him into is canon, and it’s sad :( especially as someone who is a MAJOR Tim/marble hornets fan, but versions like Ijustwannahavefun’s is nice, I enjoy it!!

I Just Love how you portrayed toby and masky.
Toby isn't the waffle loving crackhead the fandom made of him, he is manipulative and insane, as one can clearly see whenever his eyes are shown and his extreme movements.
It also gets clear that slender ordered him to convince masky.
In 1:03 / 1:04, he looks really relieved when he thinks that masky wants to join them, showing that it was not his original idea or intention.
His manipulative side is shown when his mood swings are kicking in, switching from his cheerful side to get masky to come with him to an angry side that would not hesitate to chop tims head off.
He doesn't have any sympathy for him, he just wants to get his job done.

Great interpretation. I enjoy seeing Toby being portrayed as somebody dangerous, because the fandom largely overlooks it. My favorite potrayals of him are dangerous, but with a little bit of waffle-crackhead™ energy (falling out of the tree). also, waffle-crackhead™ energy is probably good for manipulating people, it kinda gets your guard down.
I figured that this would be a order, but didn't know quite why. great catch with the expressions in 1:03/1:04
As for the lack of sympathy, I beg to differ. 1:49 .Tim is looking away, so this wouldn't be manipulation, as well as it being a slightly more subtle expression. There is some part of Toby that cares. that's just my theory though. your analysis got my brain going, so I made one too.

A lot of people are saying Toby must have been ordered by Slenderman, but I think he is also partly stuck in a savior complex.
During 0:39, we see a flashback of his own life and how miserable he used to be. The passion and frustration he displays towards Tim is directly related to his own trauma and home life; he truly thinks of Slenderman as a savior and the others as a family. In this way he wants to somewhat "save" Tim, because he understands what living in misery and isolation is like. He's frustrated and agitated when Tim seems to not agree at first, because he thinks "I'm offering you a chance to mend your life and you're not taking it?? I didn't have a choice! You do!"
Another reason why I think Toby isn't doing it just as a "job," is his expression in 1:51. You can see understanding and pity on his features (just shows how AMAZING the animator is at portraying expressions), meaning Toby, while not empathizing, can at least understand and relate to Tim's situation.
He isn't a cold, heartless killer. He was an abused teenager who found comfort in serving Slenderman and the "family" because it's the closest thing to a real family he's ever had. He's more akin to a child wanting to expand that family to others and show them how healing and great it can be. He truly wants Tim to believe Slenderman can save him, because Toby himself believes that. That happens in a lot of abuse victims.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
only issue is the reason Tim lives in misery and isolation is BECAUSE of Slenderman. so Toby is effectively saying "just give into your tormenter and join us" which is the reason Tim is so averse to it in the first place. to him, this is a cult worshiping the demon that's been ruining his life since childhood. their mindsets are so different because of the circumstances in which Slenderman became involved. you're totally right, Toby sees it as a saviour. the thing that came from the woods and rescued him from abuse. But to Tim, the Slenderman is the source of all his suffering, not the one saving him from it.
and when you think of it like that, seeing Tim slowly begin to give up towards the end is so bleak. he spent the entirety of Marble Hornets running, trying to get better, and then suffering again and again because of Slenderman's influence on those around him, and on himself, too. He lost Jay, the only person he could've considered a friend in a long time, and Brian- who was an abusive influence at best, but it's even worse knowing that it's technically Tim's fault he became that way, even if it was unintentional- not to mention what happened to all his other college friends, Jessica, Sarah, Seth, Amy- and then what Alex became because of all of that.
And now Toby's come in when Tim has finally resolved to go on living, even if it's living a life of complete isolation, never getting involved with anyone else for fear of what they'd become if he tried, and he's saying: "come into the arms of the one who's been isolating you and putting you in the position your whole life". and after years of being worn down, he's thinking "maybe it's better to just give up after all"

@@Someone-or8tp Did you watch Marble Hornets? The blank, faceless antagonist in Marble Hornets is THE OPERATOR, not Slenderman. Slenderman and The Operator are two different beings.
@J.W. I know this, but also in MH Ticci Toby doesn't exist. Ijustwannahavefun has mixed Creepypasta and MH together, and so in this AU, The Operator and Slenderman are considered the same entity. Unless they've specifically stated otherwise, but I don't believe they have. And considering the fact that Toby is seeking out Tim for the purpose of joining them, I think the context clues speak for themselves.
Edit: not to mention, TO was based on SM so the connection here isn't baseless. And their abilities are the same? So are you going to make the argument that two creatures who look the same, have the same abilities, and have the same mannerisms (with a touch more personality here because fanon) somehow exist in the same universe, entirely separate with no direct confrontation? No, it totally makes sense that since the universes have been smacked together, these two entities are the same under this context. If we get any insider info from the content creator's tumblr or a full explanation, then I'll believe alternate arguments. But until then it's pretty clear what the intent was. Especially considering that SM in this video was drawn in practically the sane stance that TO was always shown in MH. Standing stock still (with tentacles, fair enough that's a difference), arms parted, head held high. It's not like he's presented any differently to how TO was shown in MH.
If this was totally Canon compliant to the real MH universe, then I'd agree with you. But in MH, the creepypastas don't actually exist. There is no Sally Williams, Jane/Jeff the Killer or Laughing/Eyeless Jack or Ticci Toby, and Hoodie is literally dead and wouldn't make any appearances in the videos. Why is Hoodie presented as alive if this is completely Canon compliant to MH?

Exactly, I feel the same way. The creepypasta fandom has taken many characters and basically ruined them, and now half the fandom doesn’t even know what the origional character was. Like how Timothy (“Masky”) has blue eyes, and is shorter, Brian (“Hoodie”) is dead, also they like forgot about Alex And Jay I guess, oh and Tim and Brian ain’t even creepypastas. It’s so sad.

honestly, i really like the character choice in this? because for toby, slender had saved him from dying and had essentially given a life worth living. although for masky/tim, he was ripped from his life and was forced into becoming a proxy.

But I also read that Toby is neither of those and is actually straight... I am not exactly or/and entirely sure...
And I also think it's not just Masky and Hoodie... I think some people ship Toby with their own self or their original character... And is actually extremely possessive of him... (I even saw one picture in the Google that was against TicciWork, and saying that Toby is theirs and only theirs... 😶)

Tim (“Masky”) would never have joined in the first place, as “Masky” is basically just an alternate to Tim (He isn’t sane or aware of what he’s doing when he’s masky, he’s just a crazy guy in the woods that tackles ya) but this is a cool idea!! I just try to inform others about what the characters were really supposed to be, because this fandom hs really strayed away from that. No offense meant!! ^^

I love how you can really see how hard it is for Masky to deny this, he says clearly that he doesn't want this, but you can visibly see that he's hesitant, and that the offer does tempt him, it's clear he's been through a lot, due to the flashbacks, and he is really tempted by the offer of a true family that would care for him, he is clearly struggling not to accept the offer as Toby tells him about this family that is waiting for him, and he really is genuinly concerned for Masky, as he becomes more forceful of telling him to join the 'pastas, Toby sincerely believes that Masky needs people to talk to and be able to be a family with, it's clear that Masky is used to being alone, but that he is really unhappy with the lifestyle he has, but doesn't want to admit it. If this isn't how it's intended, sorry I misunderstood, but this is how I interpreted it.

Thats a cool concept although I dont think Tim would hesitate about joining, I think it would be more about stopping the trauma the operator constantly puts him through and by association Brian puts him through due to his unintended association. He is probably struggling with the options of keep suffering but keep who you are and your moral compass or loose the pain but by proxy loose your entire sense of self and possibly any part of yourself you have left from whats already been taken. ^u^

And for Toby, he's got a long backstory so I recommend you either Google it or go to a CP Forum with all of the pastas.

@@fabreo4041 here is a short summary for you when it comes to Tobbys story: His sister died in a car crash which he survived, his dad is an asshole and Tobby starts to get nightmares and halucinations which later turn out to be slendermans fault who apearantly was interested in recruting Tobby. The part in the video where you see Tobbys hands in bandages is a nood to the time where he hurt himselfe badly. Shortly after that Tobby kills his dad, runs away and get picked up by Slenderman bevore he can burn himselfe to death.
(That's just a summary of the esential stuf in his story. I recoment reading it yourselfe or to listen to the "audio book" version made by jordan persegaty here on UA-cam)
I love watching this. Every once in a while, I come back and watch it again. I like the concept of Slenderman sending Toby to "recruit" him because he's more likely to listen to a fellow human. I'm tempted to write a fanfic.
