Glad to note that Nagarathar community contributed to the improvement of the temples. It this community who played great part in building Hindu temples south east Asia where they established their business empire..

Inside the fort there is a cave temple with a single linga, where Kattaboman younger brother OOMAI THURAI hid from the British, also the fort walls are only standing in certain places, rest areas all encroached, the fort houses famous VAIRAVAR AND MUNISWARAR shrines,

Another are of interest. There is a temple near Fort.St George called Body Gaurd Muneeswarar Temple. How did it get that name. Was it from Body Gaurd Line of British army. An old map of Madras showed that spot as Body Guard Line.

Hello, thank you for the very insightful information . However, you didn't mention the rock-cut temple where the Shiva Lingam was discovered. I'm also interested in know more about when this rock-cut chamber was discovered?

I am curious to know why British chose to lay a road connecting Fort St.George and St.Thomas Mount. Can you find out little more about the St.Thomas Mount a.k.a "parangimalai". Who built a Church on the hill top, British or Portugese ? . Also, did Robert Clive stayed at a bungalow in the foothills of St.Thomas Mount, which is now part of St.Dominics Girls School. There are lot of British Era buildings in that area which are now part of Indian Army.
