- Update on Wyman, hit by a car yesterday:
He is still very painful and has road rash & scrapes on his paws making it hard to walk. He also has some blood in his urine and stool and hasn't had an appetite yet. We're putting in a catheter so he can get continual fluids for hydration, pain medication, and antibiotics. He is as soft as a little bunny and is being such a good patient. We even got a tail wag today. You got this buddy, we need you to be strong!
If you saw our video yesterday, you'll know that we rescued TWO dogs that were both hit by cars yesterday. We were hoping for a miracle, but we're so sorry to have to give you this update on the other dog we named Sam:
Your love and prayers guided him across the rainbow bridge. He walked across with your love and all the hope you sent him. After being hit hard by a car yesterday, his lungs were full of blood making it difficult to breathe. On top of that, we discovered that there were perforations in his GI tract, meaning the contents in his stomach would leak out and he would go septic rapidly. We couldn't repair it in surgery because we could not get him stable. He declined quickly. More than anything, we wanted to help this sweetheart heal and help him go on to enjoy a happy life. That’s what we want for all of them. Sam wagged his tail and showed us his very gentle and pure heart. We all fell in love with him instantly and knew an amazing family would love and spoil him forever. If only he could know how truly special he was and how much his life mattered. On #RememberMeThursday, Reverend Nancy Mcguire said that children greet the beautiful animals that lose their lives as they cross the rainbow bridge. We hope more than anything that’s exactly what happened.

Sam did not die alone in the cold and in pain he died surrounded by love. That is the best you could ask for given his horrendous injuries.
I agree. It's sad he didn't make it but I'm thankful he didn't die alone.
He's beautiful, terrible someone would hit him and not help even more horrible by was alone on the street. Prayers, so wished I lived closer if adopt him. Wishing him the best🐾💜🙏🐾💜🙏🐾💜🙏

So sorry to hear Sam was fatally injured. He seemed to be so sweet with his happy tail even though I'm sure he was in pain. RIP Sam.

Poor soul, I truly hope that Karma catches up with the person that hit him and left him on the side of the road. I pray this lovely animal feels better soon.
I am crying now learning that Sam is gone. Thank you Donna and all vets who worked so hard to save his life. I was hoping he would make it. So sad.

Someday I might have better words, but today I just want to hug him. I'll hug my little mutt instead, maybe she can send them on. Hug him, love him, and know we fans send you hugs and love too. From a safe 6ft or more distance. Just hug the dog, he needs it.

Such a loving breed. Reminds me of our Bo who was a rescue. All he wants is love. Listening to Bo snoring on the floor right now and waiting for Wyman to get better so he can cuddle with a family and have a floor to snore on.

I'm surprised that Wyman allowed u to approach him w/o aggression from being in pain. Such a good boy & thank you for taking such great care of him.
Very sad to hear abt Sam. That wagging tail sure didn't give away the pain & discomfort he was in. Difficult decision, but thank you for relieving him of his pain without too much suffering.

Poor boy. All our love and best wishes, from Sputnik and Shane, here in our bit of Australia. I adopted Sputnik nearly 3 years ago, and 19 days later, he dived out of the car, and straight under a 4wd pickup. Luckily he went between the track of the car, and there was no bull bar or winch on the front. He just got tumbled under the car. I raced him straight to the vet, and luckily he only had superficial wounds, and some bits of gravel rash. But it took him a week to get back on his feet properly. He was very, very, lucky. I love my boy.
