This Off Roam mount is great, just recently purchase one on amazon. A little pricey, but well worth the cost. I'd wish I got this one at first, would've saved me a few dollars. Its all alloy, and very sturdy not cheap in design or materials use to fabricate. Again, well worth the buck - I own a 2nd Gen 2005 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pre-runner. Your install video is great, I viewed it during my install a great assist and very helpful -

It’s expensive, but it’s a buy it once and done essential product. Magnet type holders, etc., just do not hold up over time and we all need to be able to quickly access our phones for navigation, etc. while on the road.
I saw tacomaholic is running a ram mount out of the passenger side handle. Thought that was a cool spot to have a mount I don't see others using.
I keep returning to this vid. Might pull the trigger on this mount. Also considering getting a walkie talkie just like yours because I love the aesthetic of it even though I have no one to talk to xD

They need to make a Land Cruiser 200 phone mount
I'm running something similar except its mounted to the A-pillar. Check out the thread "MOD: A-pillar RAM mount GPS/Phone holder" on TacomaWorld. Mine is like on pg. 54; post 1071, doesn't block the air vent or impede setting up/taking down the windshield visor.

@@brians.4488 Actually I'm not but I can see where you might think so. I generally hold my phone in my left hand. I scroll, tap & swipe with my left thumb while holding it or index finger when its mounted. LOL never thought about it but isn't that how righties manipulate their phones?

@@alpinetactics I just ordered it! I liked how you showed how to install it and trail tested it. I also like the fact that it is made specifically for my 2nd Gen truck and isn’t some universal holder that will keep loosening and never really be convenient. It is pricey though. I guess you get what you pay for!

Is the problems you’re having with the head unit a reason not to buy or minor enough to go ahead and buy it?
I can’t make that decision for someone else. All I can do is share my experience. I’ll record the video as soon as I can.
Ram style mounts have been around for a while for the marine industry. Guys that run the Baja 1000 use solid aluminum mounts just like bass guys do.
Have u ever tried the deal that connects to your front seat bolt? Also how is your massive head unit working out? Since the new car market is soo screwed up I'm hanging on to my 2015. The fairly new morimoto whole headlights and that MASSIVE head unit are in my sights.
Nice! So there is a lot that I like about the head unit but I have been having some problems with it. I actually just filmed a 6 month review video that talks about the issues I have had with it and that will be out pretty soon.

It does but does limit how much you can

It does limit how much you can adjust your air vent a little, you can position the arms to not really block the air vent. It might a little but it worked fine for me.
Can you attach an iPad to this mount?
The mount place but you would need an iPad attachment. There is a weight rating on the website. As long as you don’t go over it you should be fine. I used it for a camera and it was fine.
I notice you have a net above your back head rest to hold equipment. What setup is that? Sorry I literally have the exact same truck. 2012 Tacoma Trd sport with a leer camper shell

I think the phone holder looks an awful lot like 67 Designs.
The part that is special about the off roam mount is specifically the mounting piece. The part that holds the phone is probably pretty similar across tons of brands.
@@alpinetacticsyeah I can see where the vent mounting piece is unique. That would just come down to personal preference. The reason I commented is that the part that holds the phone (and others) has been copied from 67 Designs as they are the original designer/manufacturer. Other companies have lead unwitting offroaders/overlanders astray with the ploy of '67 Designs but cheaper' when it's stolen IP and made in China. I just don't like the thought of folks like us who work hard for the money we spend on this way of life and bogus companies try to take advantage of it. I appreciate your response! Keep adventuring!
