    "If all else fails it's been a good run..." Too funny. Enjoy the videos. Thanks for putting in the time for us.

    Thanks for the video. I just took your recommendations and I’m headed out to purchase the undercoating. I pick up my trailer on Monday and now have my first to do item figured out.

      seems a shame to buy an all aluminum trailer and leave plywood exposed underneath!

    Is it common for enclosed trailers to have wood floors? I would have thought aluminum or something more resistant to the weather.

      yeah, everyone I've ever seed does. Not sure why. To be fair very few of them are rotted out so must not be awful but I want to give it a better chance.

    What do you think about using Surface Shield Rust Protectant or Fluid Film for coating? Would it maybe be even better to do a double coat of Shield Rust/Fluid Film + Herculiner? Not sure which I would spray first if a double coat would be good

      @buildlifeoverland  Рік тому

      My trailer is Aluminum so we're not really concerned about rust. I would worry about those products being compatible if you used multiple layers. They say you don't need anything so I figure the Herculiner will just give it a bit more protection.

    Why would you buy a trailer with a bare plywood under decking?

      Lack of options? Advantec gives treated a run for it's money so probably fine for most. Seems like a few rattle cans add a bit of life to them?

      Because that's how they come. 😂😂😂😂😂

    Be smarter if the just built it with pressure treated plywood

    • @buildlifeoverland
      @buildlifeoverland  9 місяців тому

      Yeah I'm not sure why they don't. Modern trailers seem to be Advantec at least. I think that is almost as good. I bet they use that over treated because it is dead flat where treated gets a little squirly!

      @@buildlifeoverland I’m bought an 18 footer to use as a toy hauler for camping trips, I like to take my atvs and kayak. I have a king sized fold down bed and a set of fold down bunk beds. Ac and an outdoor shower as well. First thing I did though was replace all the wood with pressure treated

      @@msharp6887 did it give you trouble? I want to spray foam under mine but I'm afraid it will fall out on the road.

      @@buildlife spray foam is crazy sticky so is not falling off. But no not really time consuming sure, but it’s really just a matter of removing whatever they used to mount it. Mine was a bunch of self tapping screws. If u are careful enough u can use the pieces as templates

      @@buildlife it’s hard to justify doing on a brand new trailer though. Mine had oil stains and soft spots so it had to be done regardless
