Shame he didn't let the others talk - he needed to BRING in others to the conversation, not just hearing the sound of his own voice (yep, I'm talking about the guy in the centre.......)
LOL :-D
Loved Jim's humor as much as the drum.
beautiful tone.
Amazing sound. I'd love to hear it with different heads as well as with different tensions.
When he tunes it down, oh my does that sound good. 2:35
Wow you can hear that bell brass ring! Very low side, nice click! Yes that throw off would drive me nuts but drum is nice. David Curtis Drumming
Theres nothing wrong with that throw off.. i have the same snare drum... all working fine for me. The key is you got to be GENTLE!!!!!!! Thats all man...
The good thing is that you can gradually put the snares on with the leg while playing.
It's noisy and ugly. They should have put the Micro-sensitive thrown on it.
What are the results for this snare? I can't find them anywhere
Recent debate about the G-USA-BB...officially advertised everywhere as ''cast bell brass 3mm shell'', but some say it was rolled, welded and buffed just like the 2nd generation DW Bell Brass 3mm snare, others say it was centifugal casted, and some sources added not only was it centrifugal casted but from overseas...most definitely not sand casted like the Tama Bell Brass 3mm (bronze)...
I own one. It sounds like a cannon. That's all that matters!
@@timphelan2873 Got one too, have the Gretsch USA Phosphor Bronze as well, which i prefer over the USA Bell Brass
monster
Beth Gottlieb!
3:25 nice !
Nothing wrong with the throw off, it's really convenient. But I would like to hear toms around, I fear this drum makes a lot of buzz with such wires underneath.
The guy in the middle was/is with Ludwig.
You’re gonna get THAT with that. But uh.......you ALSO get a magnificent shell that 98% of drummers DON’T HAVE. And you can change a head. I feel like this guy is scrutinizing things that have no need to be mentioned. Play the drum in various tunings, make note of the benefits and if they outweigh any short comings it’s a win. After all these years Gretch haven’t changed the throw off or but plate so they obviously don’t give a crap about this guys criticisms. A more modern throw off/butt plate like the Tama Linear Strainer would be a nice. I have it on several of my Tama snares and it’s the best system from ANY company from any manufacturing era.
Actually Joe, there is a new Gretsch throw-off. It is called the Micro-Sensitive, and the new updated version has been around for at least 5 years now. It works really well from what I'm told.
@@ldcsam1 Ibe seen that throwoff and I believe Gretch installs it on the previous generation of the Bell Brass snare. Not sure why they chanhed to an older and inferior model. But at least the Tama Linear Strainer fits on the butt plate side with only a light squeeze in the vice. The Lightning Strainer works fine if it isn't touched but setting the snares up is a nightmare. Custom adapter to install the Tama butt plate is my next move.
The sarcasm is strong with this one
Yes shame that guy wouldn't let anyone else speak - the others were just there for decoration purposes.
3:28 lmao
four guys, one woman, camera and bunch of sticks in one room.
I'm guessing they all suffer from tinitus by now...
The Pearl brass sounded better.
Sounds ok.but.not much of a gretsch fan.I prefer Ludwig
There is no such thing as bell brass, this drum is bronze
bad
Tama bell brass is much better than this.
I disagree 100%
Aren't the wires a problem on this one ? You can't expect a snare that large (at least 42 wires) without a lot of buzz, invasive scrap noise when you hit the toms.
fanboy alert!
Pearl Sensitones sound much better ..and much cheaper too.
