- Strap in to this HQ Holden as it drives through the field in a race at Sydney. With a 202 6 cylinder red motor, these cars have been a quintessential Australian category for decades.
I'm loving this channel more and more each day. What a brilliant driver. No mistakes anywhere. Didn't overdo it at any point. Just stuck to the basics and his lines consistently. He earned the right to cuss in the end. 😁👌🏽
Thanks mate. Really appreciate your support of the channel.
We've got to agree, some great driving in this clip.
Not wrong! That driver knows his car and its limits and pushes it to the max, but not past 👌 superb!!
Anyone else holding their breath as he edges ahead down the straight to overtake? Love it. Find my self then talking to the screen "Come on, you can do it!!"
That was an epic drive. Was waiting for the rear end to step out with a compression lock up on some of those down changes, but the driver managed.it all perfectly. Well done
Great camera placement by them also
9:17 that was a genius move forcing him to hug the inside so tightly, well done mate you knew exactly all the places to put your car excellent drive!
Who says you need a V8 to have fun! Screamin' six all day!
Back in the day HQ racing had an element of demo derby. These days with the going rate for an HQ the guys are so careful!
Awesome racing, that side by side for about half a lap was intense
that 2nd to 3rd shift takes me back the ratios are crazy
Yeah, it's what they've got to run with so they work them!
BAAAAAAAAAAPP BUUUUUUUUURR
Once you're out of 1st, it's then like e 2 speed powergluide.
Rev till it explodes then labor it in top
@@BRETTYZCAR perfect interpretation
I just watched the whole race Well this guy can steer i was on the edge of my seat, thanks for the show guys Disregard my other comment I forgot what was like to drive a quey
Loving the channel.
Massive Historics fan, Australia is on my must visit list, even more so when you provide content like this 😎
Thanks Justin, we're so pumped to hear you're enjoying the content.
There's some pretty cool stuff to see here that's for sure! :)
Seen any of Jordon Cox racing? ua-cam.com/video/HUjJdUc8CZw/v-deo.html
@@robmanueb. yeah, we've filmed Jordan racing for years. You'll find original videos on this channel here: ua-cam.com/video/3wqu-skWjsw/v-deo.html
Better than supporting ripped links from other places.
@@BlendLineTV It was the only compilation I could find that shows his skills to effect. No insult to your channel intended. Jordon brought me to your channel a couple of years ago and I have been subscribed ever since. Keep up the good work and amazing content.
The driver is quite rightly pumped with his result. What a great drive!! Clean and calm with no touches. Impressive effort.
loved it had four hqs in the past still own a gts hz great period in aussie history
That first lap had me white knuckling it. Very gentlemanly racing as well. I didn't see any panel bumping. Great race. 👍
6:46 that’s some close racing. Brilliant footage as always.
Bloody marvellous
Absolutely brilliant ‘precision’ driving. Great stuff
I love watching these old bangers going for it!
Awesome. I was unsure if HQ racing was still a thing. Great driving, love how close you and the other guys got with very minimal rubbing or contact.
HQ Racing still going strong. The NSW guys just had another round at Sydney under lights yesterday. You can check the race out here:

@@BlendLineTV thx!
Excellent drive. I doubt he could squeeze any further revs form the old ready red 6 and every turn of the 2nd and 3rd gear cogs 👍😀
HQ sedan racing is fabulous.
Great work guys, thanks for the entertainment.
Somehow had some brakes and rear rubber when everybody elses had gone ? Awesome drive.
Had me neck tension going there, just like the F1 cars engine note before they turned soft. I enjoyed every second of this, white knuckles from HQ 3 speed racing!
They definitely provide the action and excitement these guys. Not afraid to rub a few panels at times either!
That was a awesome bit of driving
Blend Line TV has some of the best content on UA-cam. Always an automatic click on an upload.
This channel is growing nicely. Content like this and it'll be at 100,000subs very soon
We've been working towards 100,000 subs for a while. Hopefully your prediction is right :)
We'd love to be showcasing this racing and our other projects to more and more fans of grass roots motorsport.
Thank you for the support.
Hey guys I’m a double amputee, lost both my legs in a work accident. I was electrocuted by 19,000 volts a few times bloody hurt abit.. I’ve got some pretty sick legs for moto cross and a wr450f and a sponsor for the finke dessert race. I’ll be the first double amputee to compete. I did a tv interview a few weeks back it’ll be on Sa power networks channel on the 16 th October. Do you guys wanna film me do the finke? I think we could get ya past 2 million subscribers with me on board. I’ll make us all rich I promise…
I sold my story to buy the wr450 for the finke… I can race cars aswell if yas know of a spare I can have a shot in.. I’m in radelaide
And listen to true blue by John Williamson cause he’s bloody right. Right.
I driving HQ Monaro myself for a daily driver for 20 years and doing my best to upgrade the suspension so they don’t handle like boats these cars are all over the road takes a lot to get HQ to handle correctly
Stuff supercars this is far better racing. Top notch drive.
100% we'd have to agree. The HQs still put on great racing, especially with the grids in NSW and Vic.
That was fantastic
Great steerer in a well sorted car
That number 10 P plater did a great job in terms of clean racing
Loved this! Makes me wonder what happened to Gary Baxter's old car. Great Video!
the old clutch was a bit how you going at the end, sounded like a hydramatic, only old people will know what they were.
Who you callin; old?????
wow ,, super drive .. Nice to see some drafting :-)
Epic and awesome! That is racing at it's best. It's a shame F1 is n't up to that standard.
Nice clean racing
Is that some serious clutch slippage between 2nd and 3rd or am I hearing things. Love the HQ racing!
Thats literally driving by the seat of the pants in an old HQ Holden that was like a boat with negative castor and positive camber, but these guy's should have them dialled in to be able to steer this good.
How do they even find parts anymore?
I wonder how my dads old 1072 model HQ Holden Station wagon would've went with the Wade 933 camshaft fitted into the old 202 engine ?
It ran.thw Tri-matic transmission but !
Wow that’s a very quick thing to do that.
Thank you. You could see the different car setups by seeing their reaction through the corners from behind. Some firmer, some a bit softer. Great racing. V good driver.
HQs run contrlo springs and shocks. Wheel alignment is the only variable.
Well driven race with a very good engine.
reminds me of driving in Perth. Too many people not doing the limit. (auto parts I deliver) not all drivers are created equal. Is Mick W the driver of that car?
What an awesome drive 👏👏👏
Buy this man a beer. He should be swabbed by the stewards too!! I last drove one these in 1979 or 1980. They were hilarious. Years later racing front wheel drive rally cars I used to compare the "turn in". And then there was the body roll. People put silastic in the bushes to give them rigidity (oh is the secret out??:) This is tbe best racing.
Is that a rising sun on the bonnet?
Yep, it is a HQ. battered, howling diff and a very average clutch. But very well driven and a good engine
DOES HE RIDE HIS CLUTCH OR IS IT KNACKERED
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Listening to that diff. In that thing the tech guys should have a look see, bet you will find it’s had all the tolerances taken out of it, and working like a lsd diff
My thought was the diff as well.
Like they all are😉
Cool thanks mate
Great cars the HQ🤠
I think someone was sand-bagging in Qually
If not for that clutch slipping on the 2nd to 3rd changes....
Go the HQ 202 three on the tree!!!!
The rising sun has risen
7:05
Big moments!
Cracking drive indedd
He's got it worked out and wanted to get back to front asap!
@@BlendLineTV this series always brings a smile to my face. Both the entertainment value and the memories of a good mate who started his racing in HQ's but sadly lost his life racing. Your channel is one of, if not the best for race fans. Thanks for sharing these videos.
Wowyess 🤙👊
The should race these against xy Falcon 250s with three on the tree.
Wouldnt XA be more appropriate?
@@simonainscough619 I said XY because the first HQ was in 1971, but you're right too because the HQ was produced through to 74, the XB equivalent, so as long as they were six cylinder 3-speed, all is good. It would probably be difficult to get enough competitors on the track, but if they did I would pay to see it. I actually think the 202 would have the edge over the 250... and I'm a Ford bloke haha.
👍
Bloke sure knows how to handle his car
Yup, he wanted to get back to the front as well!
