I did a small 4 block storm at sea wall hanging years ago and it has been on my list ever since. I am about to embark on a king sized quilt in it and I am super excited! I will be using a diamond rect ruler and not have seams in the middle of my diamonds though.
Hi Rob, thanks for sharing your truth about recovery! It brought tears to my eyes.
Love this pattern! I blessed you are here sharing your talents!
I love watching you Rob but I’m not fond of the more modern patterns that Stitchen Heaven tends to do. Keep up the great work❤️
I tried Storm at Sea once before when I was a new quilter. It was a failure, and I threw all the cut pieces away. Now I believe I can do it with your pattern! Thanks for rejuvenating my desire to make this quilt!
The Storm at Sea got me started in quilting in the 80's. I saw the beautiful quilt and instructions in a magazine and bought fabric that closely matched. Unfortunately the instructions were not correct, the blocks were mismatched and I put it all away. But since watching your video I can see what needs correcting. I will give it a go and try again. Thank you for all you do.😊
Good Day from Newfoundland, Canada. I love Storm at Sea Quilt. I made mine a few years ago now, but did it by paper piecing. I made it in the same colors that you have used. As I said I love it. Thank you for showing a different way to make one.
Hello Rob from Huntsville Ontario Canada.
Storm at Sea is on my "to do"" list. Thank you for another great video.
Beautiful take on this iconic quilt. Another consideration for block construction for the Diamond Rectangles is using a specialty ruler. Deb Tuckers (Studio 180)wonderful Diamond Rects ruler is a MVP tool for that. It reduces the seams, and it a fast and accurate way to make this fantastic block. Specially great if you have a beautiful print--it keeps the pattern integrity within the diamond center.
Looks like a complicated block, but really is simple sewing. Thanks for the video Rob 😊
Awesome. On my to do list which is growing instead of disappearing!! Lol
Thanks for this tutorial. I think I do have the courage now to try the storm at sea block
Always wanted to try a storm at sea but was too intimidated. Great tutorial as usual. Now I will definitely do one!
Always loved Storm at Sea. Your instructionsare so easy to follow. Thank you for another informative tutorial 😊
Hello Rob from Milwaukee wi.
Wautoma WI myself.
Another good workshop. I have never tried this before and would take a quiet day for me to put together . Loos cool. God bless you. 😂
I’ve never seen a storm at sea quilt. Loved this video, very informative and your instructions are so good. Thank you Rob!
Never made one, but want to. You make it look easy.
I have wanted to make this for a long time. Thank you so much
Love the storm at sea. Working on a pattern that has a bunch of storm at seas blocks.
great video and love this pattern! love blocks that create movement!
Hi Rob! I have not done a storm at sea yet but love the patternand might just give it a go. Thanks for the great tutorial!
I am so glad to see you using post-its to keep track of those little pieces.
Great Tutorial Rob, I have always wanted to make a Storm and Sea, perfect and easy to follow you're the best! I am ready to tackle my storm at Sea now. Thank you
You always do a great job Rob!
Thanks for sharing your personal background. ❤
This is one of my favorite patterns. Hadn’t thought of making on point though.
Have used traditional pattern to make for window without batting. Looks like stained glass when sun shines through.
When making the triangle square could you mark the centers with a marking pencil?
It’s one I want to make. Thank you for breaking it down.
I've tried a storm at sea before but it didn't go well so I'm interested in this pattern. I love how the straight lines end up looking like curves and really want to successfully make this quilt. However searching for this pattern at Stitchin' Heaven says it's foundation pieced 😞
Can I make the triangles that make a diamond from a triwrecs ruler set..
Where can I find the pattern? I have desired to make Storm at sea for a while!
What is the name of the ruler you used to cut the triangles?
Okay
What have you been watching?
Hahaha!
