- FOOTAGE shows the moment Russian forces launch a deadly kamikaze drone attack on town near Kyiv.
Smoke billowed from damaged buildings at the site of a drone attack in a sleepy town south of Ukraine's capital on Wednesday (October 5).
Local officials said the drones were Iranian-made loitering munitions, often known as "kamikaze drones".
Dozens of firefighters had rushed to the scene after six drones hit a building in Bila Tserkva, around 75 km (45 miles) south of Kyiv overnight, Kyiv region governor Oleksiy Kuleba said on Wednesday.
Ukraine has reported a spate of Russian attacks with Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones over the last three weeks, which Kyiv says have been rebadged “Geran-2” by Moscow.

A drone that costs as much as a Fancy Lawn Tractor but can do almost as much damage as a multi million dollar Tomahawk Cruise Missile or 3M-54 Kalibr cruise missile, simply mind boggling.
Yeah each Iranian drone costs between $10,000-$20,000 each but using something like the Patriot SAM, each missile is costing you $1 million a piece to shoot it down and as the Saudis find out, it doesn't always work. That on top of the billions each platform costs to purchase. So by saturating the airspace, even the most advanced air defense systems will simply be overwhelmed by these cheap Kamikaze types.
@@MRrealpolitik True, except for the Israeli air defense systems ("Arrow"?). They shot down hundreds if not thousands of rockets fired from Gaza, on rare occasions being overwhelmed. From what I remember in the news, it was estimated that about 10-20% of the rockets got through their defenses, but I'm not sure how saturated the attacks were. From the news videos, we see tens (30, 40, 50, 60 ...) of missiles intercepting rockets from Gaza over Israeli cities. So, it appears that the Arrow missile is cheap enough. Also, a rocket is much harder to shoot down than a drone. They travel much faster than a drone. The one drawback of the drone is that it can fly lower to the ground making it harder to detect by ground-based radar, but I think that Israel might have airborne radar systems which makes it easier to detect low-flying objects.
@@OverlordMasterOfMen Even the Israeli system was overwhelmed the last time around. Tel Aviv was hit pretty hard and there were lots of fires all over the city. Any system can be overwhelmed with saturation attacks (sheer numbers)

Actually they made massive noise which makes them very very easy to detect. They make the sound of a motorbike which can be heard from more than a mile away. And compared to other drines they are definitely not fast. They are cheap to make though

There is a haunting resemblance between these weapons and Hitler's V1 "Doodlebug" bombs of WWII. My grandfather grew up in London during the war and remembered hearing their horrible 'droning' engines - and then the eerie silence - before the explosion.

@@renebatsch2555 It really does very little for Russia from a military standpoint. While it does tie up resources, it doesn’t conquer land, and as we have seen it doesn’t soften up Ukraine either. By Russia striking at civilian targets, they are leaving Ukraine’s military alone… and Ukraine makes advances every day and liberates large pieces of occupied territory, daily.
The Russians are employing a really, really bad strategy against Ukraine by doing this. They are also committing war crimes, which will be punished for many years. This strategy is one reason why Russia is now losing. But hey, never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake!

It is safe to ASSUME that there is no fighting going on here, and when these noisy little planes crash into civilian apartment blocks, it’s not accomplishing anything from a military standpoint. Oh, the Russians will always say things like “There were 200 Himars on the third floor” or stupid things like that, but the truth is they just don’t seem to know any other way to win a war other than to “flatten” the cities of their enemies. That’s the vernacular of the Russian trolls, it’s the vernacular of the Russian military - conquer by total destruction. Cases in point: Mariupol, Severodonetsk.
There is no strategic value to destroying these civilian apartment blocks, hundreds of km away from the fighting. That is a safe, good assumption. Militarily it is a worthless target. This is why Russia is losing the war now. (and it has always been a war, since Feb 24, 2022).
There is no war crimes, war is a crime by nature.
