For those interested in how I made it:
Over the course of a year in 2007, I shot crappy DV camera footage around my neighborhood in North Beach, San Francisco. The Star Wars vehicles are either 2D stills found on the internet, or video I roto-scoped out of the movies, which I then motion-tracked and composited in After FX. Everything is basic 2D, no 3D in this. I used the trapcode particular plug-in for some steam and smoke effects, and did basic sound design and assembly in Final Cut.

This gives off such a weird feeling I love it. We never really get to see the Death Star from the view of another planet except the moon of Endor I guess.

superimposing the death star over top of the moon was a stroke of genius sir. The way the auto exposure reacts to moonlight lends a natural found-footage realism to simulating a huge white object in orbit.

The world I wish we lived in. The Capital ship and the AT-ATs are the most thrilling, realistic idea for me. In a hundred years you will see giant ships floating through the channel. I can't wait to see them when my mind is uploaded to a mechanical body :)

Some people complain about how in Jedi they 'just built another Death Star' but I always liked the second Death Star way more than the first one. It has a more iconic look - in fact it might be the most iconic object in the Star Wars universe - and it is obvious that this is a giant battle station, instead of a sphere that doesn't particularly stand out as anything.
And you can fly in to the core with a space ship insted of shooting rockets

Just a wee heads up the "Empire" is now accepting air points cards, SF to hoth return is starting at $900, although i hear if you end up in economy class with a bunch of Jedi students, they were poo flinging using the force..... long trip, boredom I think but either way....not cool, oh and before I forget one couple tried joining joining the 15 million mile high club, RIGHT when they were making the jump to light speed, he managed "to dust her crops" AND the first 9 rows of business class... one in flight service droid described the scene as looking like "a blaster had exploded in a mayonnaise factory" not a pretty sight......
