Wonderful to hear positive, uplifting news like this. Congratulations, and huge respect to all parties responsible for securing the long-term environmental future of this gem of a place.
Just goes to show how the sport can have a positive impact on the environment if it is allowed to do so. Hopefully other areas will take note and use mountain biking as a way to protect and enhance more forests around the country.
Apart from the emissions of all the diesel vehicles, the micro plastic from the tyres, the co2 of everyone driving to site, the by products of production, the global shipping of things. Yeah, if you ignore that....
@@lborisfromlv426 lad compare mtb to golf, skiing, motorsport etc it has a much lower impact. Not all mtb parks are uplift as well, this type of approach would be fantastic in trail centers as well
Wow... returning the hills to natural woodland will be amazing. My two favourite things together: Bikes and deciduous forest :-) I'm 61 so I'm unlikely to see it in my life time....
Most definitely the best way forward! It will become a huge asset - to you, the visitors and the uk. Well done for having a creative business process and conceiving the idea. Also turning difficult negatives into a massive positive. Potentially a new way of managing woodland in the uk. Even where you might think there are negative impacts on the environment such as trail creation and soil disturbance will actually become a positive element for things like invertebrates, as some require disturbed surfaces and bare soil to make there homes in and warm up faster on cold days. Hopefully be an amazing journey!
The best bike park bar none. I just wish that The Forestry Commission at Dalby in particular would work with advanced mountain bikers, instead of against us.
If you think BPW is better than Dyfi, Dirt Farm, Revs, Cearsws or even Antur Stiniog, you're mad. It's fantastic what's happening with conservation there and the facilities are great but the trails are very mid.
@@hangnrashr Your talking about bikers with high end skills, our group don't have that. That's how my opinion is formed. I'm 66 years old, no way I'm doing Dyfi.
Absolutely amazing news. Shame this can't happen at Afan forrest and Brechfa forest. There are trails at both these centre's which have been closed for well over a year due to NRW inability to get things done! The Raven at Brechfa has over half of it shut and no work seems to be going on! I walked it a few weeks ago and it's shameful to see the state on it! I can't see it ever being reinstated. Nrw are a waste of time! W2 at afan has not long had the energy section reinstated but last Saturday it was closed again due to tree felling! And nrw wonder why people build unsanctioned trails! Good to see bike park wales getting things spot on and saving the hills 👌.
It's great to build a positive legacy. My wife and I are putting money away so that one day in the future our kids can afford a couple of days of uplifts at the current prices.
Amazing ! Love the place and can’t get enough of it. love to see the energy and innovation towards making it sustainable not just as Business but the environment as well.
I cannot waitt to get there. Only just bought a DH bike had it 4 days stacked it and shoulder is kinda Donald ducked. So I'm 6 days into my injury and itching. I needd to tweak it. It's a GIANT DH COMP 2003 in pukka nick I paid £300 for it I don't know much about mountain bikes but I'm an 80s kid I had a bmx and rode every kinda dirt bike. This bikes like a DT 125 with no engine. I'm going to get a more modern 1 too but this bike I had to have it. Strong as fk. 21 year old bike in excellent condition. BPW TIK TOK TIK
Excellent plan - far too many vast areas of commercial forestry with reduced species has led to the easy spread of diseases - diversity is how nature works - still can’t afford your fees though 😎
I think it refers to transitioning from a monoculture of commercial woodland i.e. all larch, to a more diverse and native woodland with a greater variety of plants
Looks good but the prices are ridiculous now and I dare say that the prices will go up again to pay for this. Most people couldn’t give a toss about sustainability they just want good trails. These are pretty mediocre.

@@lborisfromlv426 People wouldn't have to drive (so far) to trail centres if there were more of them.
Amazing work guys. Also, big shout out to your videographer, just spot on with those shots.
Awesome relationship between mountain biking and conservation.
Nice work folks! Hopefully more biking areas can be inspired by this model!
Beautiful film, Fantastic news look forward to seeing the site develop.
This sounds brilliant for the landscape great works guys. Love this place.
Keeping the natural plants and trees really does benefit the younger generations. Can’t wait to see when you start building on the rest of the hill ❤
Mint, absolutely mint!
This is fantastic, well done all involved.

As long as it doesnt get anymore expensive. Its once a year treat for me. But start thinking to go else where for that treat.
Already too expensive. Agree it's a once a year treat plus they don't take cash. That's a no-no for me.
That is very cool. Congratulations to all involved. What fantastic forward-looking thinking and action.

Great news. A big pat on the back for everyone and for nature itself.

Yeah, go us! All of us who ride BPW made this possible, and it’s a rare bit of great news to celebrate. Well done BPW and NRW!
Fail to plan, plan to fail - great to see this amazing facility in safe hands for years to come.

Massive Kudos!

Great stuff, good luck with the developments. I love BPW
Exciting times! 🎉

The blueprint. Fantastic 💙
Well done team
Da iawn Bike Park Wales & Natural Resources Wales, great to hear
Shorter uplift route means more time on the trails and less emissions too. Nice one 🥳
So good!
excellent
Thank goodness for that. I was expecting bad news from the title.
Great opportunity to try out the Miyawaki Method of rewilding this area.
Well done bpw 🙏

Bloody wicked! Leave the trees alone! xx
Common sense prevails well done all involved.
Cool ❤😊
Glad BPW has got the status it needed, at least you have some protection from the wind farms that have destroyed Glyncorwg.

gondola or tarmac'd uplift road? 🙄😁
So you say the core is going to revert to it's natural state, doest that mean you're shrinking the bike park? Or am I misinterpreting that?
I think it refers to transitioning from a monoculture of commercial woodland i.e. all larch, to a more diverse and native woodland with a greater variety of plants
Isn't it expanding with near 30km of new trails?

Awesome. What a great partnership. Don't suppose you want to be Prime Minister as well?
Laying the emotional Gen-Z friendly foundation for “here’s why we’re going to charge you even more money from now on”
