    I bought my wife the Ripley AF when it was first released. I took it for a ride one morning and I was hooked. Bought myself one in size M 😂 this bike is so good for my local trail.

    Got a Ripley AF for my 13 yo son and now he rides faster than me. The AF is an amazing bike for $3000. There is not a single bit of spec on this bike that needs to be changed and the geometry is about perfect. However, I did switch the stock tires for a set of 2.4 Maxxis Rekons which reduced wheel weight and rolling resistance. In my opinion, this is probably the best $3000 short-travel Trailbike that you could buy.

    Probably worth mentioning that the AF has a slightly more aggressive geo than the carbon version. I love the DW link suspension. It climbs crazy good. I have the Ripmo and, though it’s heavier and has more travel than my Giant Trance, I am crushing my PRs, including my hill climbs.

    It’s amazing that it looks so close to my Rimpo AF, mines a XL with 2.6 trail tires and on the bike shop scale it weighs just under 34 lbs, with pedals and a 160 bomber z1. I’d rather have the travel for about the same weight. Climbs well and beats my PRs from my hardtail in every way. Thanks for the review

    I love Ibis!
    I rode a V1 Ripley for a long time, and most recently switched to a V1 Ripmo.
    I actually bought my Ripmo at the start of the Pandemic!
    Since I had my Ripmo, I been riding on the stock tires which are Maxis DHF Minion 2.5 up front and Aggressor 2.5 in the back. I just switched to a Trailboss 2.4 in the rear and was blown away by the difference! It rolls snappier! I wonder if the difference is with that 0.1" or is it the light casing? I'm guessing the light casing.
    FYI, the Ripley AF has been compared to the Spur on other channels. It would be more interesting if you could compare the Carbon Ripley to the Spur.

    Do you have the new Jet 9 RDO on the way for testing?

    • @scottlstone
      @scottlstone 3 роки тому +1

      I imagine their demo bikes are built with whatever spares lying around at the time of build hence why the mix and match Shimano componentry. That fork has probably been on a number of bikes. Parts are so rare at the moment that anything that comes in, goes straight out sales.

    Hi Clint, it's too bad they didn't send you the carbon version so you can do a direct comparison of that with the spur. Both were on my radar end of last summer, and due to availability i demo'd the ripley, loved it and went with it. But always curious about the spur. I would have liked to hear your opinion on both bikes. The AF is way too heavy and imo not in the same category as spur.

  • @scottaw
    @scottaw 3 роки тому +1

    Can you put some 2.4’s on it for future testing, tubeless, and get the weight down? I bet the alloy frame is darn close to the carbon frame weight, and the 33 lbs is coming from components like the tires, tubes, wider rims, etc. The other thing to point out is the $3K price for the Ridley AF, just a really good value. The Ripley, Spur, and Epic Evo are at the top of my list for next bike to purchase, once bikes are actually back in stock.

    • @baddriversofcolga
      @baddriversofcolga 3 роки тому

      That's the thing - the aluminum frame is only like 1.5 pounds heavier, so if you spent the same amount of money on the aluminum bike as what the carbon frame version costs you'd probably have a bike that's just as light.

    Clint, Do you have any suggestions for setting up a DW link rear shock? I've noticed Fox specs vs IBIS ripley AF's (seems more stiff) VS Pivot tuning guide (softer) are all different. I am 180lbs and used 200psi in rear shock. Sag was where it was supposed to be but it felt kinda rough and had some pedal kick back. Not sure if thats a dw-link trait or if I am too stiff or not stiff enough etc.
