The thing about "HIP" is that is a statement to haters and media. Specially Hwasa. If you look for the story behind the video it makes us think how much us women need to fight just to have half of the rights and good treatment boys are just born with. And yes, they're are drag queens. Once they performed with a gender-fluid group called Pink Cheeks at Melon Music 2016. Just like Dreamcatcher, they're are one of the few groups that openly support their LGBTQIA+ fans.
Wheein said that they did hip to prove that they can do more than just vocals that they can dance to because people kept saying they where only good at vocals
@@Lexilavcha Yeah. But I was talking about how the media harassed Hwasa for what she was wearing at the airport. And making a hard dance to prove they can sing while dancing it's a statement as well.
@@nathaliamattos3835 yes thats why in the headline during hwasa’s verse it states “president hwasa dressed ridiculously at the airport” after she went out braless. The drag queens in this video is the same one they performed with.
Mamamoo is definitely the best vocal group in K-pop, who shines even more performing live. You should go check out their live stages, all of their performance from the show "Queendom" and "Killing Voice" are good ways to start your journey. As for their concept, you are right. They don't confine themselves to a certain music genre, nor to a certain image. They can be fierce, sexy, cute and masculine. They also openly support the LGBTQ+ community. It is very rare for Kpop group to do so, given how conservative the Korean society is.
I’ll add Queendom and Killing Voice to my reaction list!! Though I’ll likely have to put Queendom on my Patreon Love to see them openly supporting the lgbtq+ community!!
The guide for Mamamoo, even though it is from 2020, is Introducing Mamamoo by Purple Hawke. It is somewhat long, but worth it. Mamamoo MVs are amazing, but they sound even better live. They literally can't lipsync (they were made to do it one or two times, it did not go well). I suggest taking a look at their Killing Voice as a quick snapshot of many of their popular songs, the Immortal Songs medley, which collects many of the song covers they did on the Immortal Songs shows, and for good measure "[MMMTV] Episode 6 - How Mamamoo plays in the car" which is an iconic old live that showcases not only their talent but also personality. Mamamoo are mature women, and they do their own thing. Noone tells them what to do. They do cutesy if they want to (e.g. Waggy); they do sexy (e.g. Words Don't Come Easy); they do funny (e.g. 1cm Pride / Taller Than You)... you name it. They don't do "concepts", they just do whatever they want. Solar took up pole dancing to combat back issues, and fell in love with it. Although before Egotistic I believe she only had one lesson or so, this is definitely not a condemnation of pole dancing :) Many girl groups sing about female empowerment; but Mamamoo _lives_ it. You'll see if you check out a guide. The whole Hip song is a f-you to the haters. Solar is known to not wash her hair for days when she doesn't have to, but if she wants to have greasy hair, it's her business. Hwasa tends to dress for comfort when not performing, and was criticised multiple times for her "airport fashion" (first only bra, then no bra, then boxers showing above pants...) but then got really popular when people found out that she is a normal human. They're hip, whatever they do, and if you don't like it... tough. And yes, Two-Tone Rocker Solar is accompanied by cross-dressers :) And also, they are BFF forever: even in another universe, where they weren't Mamamoo, they would eventually find their way to each other. To say they are bold is an understatement. You know how everyone is all polite and dresses up nicely for music shows? Early on in their career, they promised they'd eat ramen if they won; they ate ramen right there on the stage, while singing. Another time they showed up one time in Teletubby costumes.
"Mamamoo isn't a girl group, they're a woman group". Their whole vibe is keeping a positive attitude while breaking negative boundaries... female beauty standards, idol standards, social standards... they went to fans after winning music shows, and first to eat ramyeon on-stage after winning. The best guide BY FAR is Purple Hawke's Introducing Mamamoo Part 1 and 2 (you'll love them 20x more after getting their personalities) ua-cam.com/video/PVzvILc7Qxs/v-deo.html. As for vocal group these weren't even their flex songs. A majority of Mamamoo's most popular songs are never covered in public because they're too difficult for non-main-vocals.
@@laurenclaire Decalcomanie is one of the major songs that made their career, but it's so difficult it has barely been covered and sometimes heavily changed when they do. Story time: Mamamoo performed it at an awards show for movies notorious for being the "idol graveyard". Since they always perform live they could change the lyrics to reference actors in the audience and famous lines from their movies that year. Moonbyul, the rapper, asked out one of the biggest actors in the country with his own famous line from a romance movie and the audience went crazy. That's their thing. That, being loud and crazy, and NEVER dropping the cake. Some knock your socks off vocals: Where Are We Now, I Miss You, Gleam and Woo hoo (both songs for product promotions with m/v's, they're unstoppable)
It's always nice to see new people get into Mamamoo. I personally got into them in early 2020, though I'd known about them since 2017. This truly is a group that doesn't disappoint. I do agree with someone else in the comments regarding the introduction guide. Although the Purple Hawke guide is a beloved one in the fandom, I believe the updated 2022 guide by MOO YT is the way to go. It's a bit of an extension of the Purple Hawke guide but with more updated information and events that have occurred since then. I look forward to more content!
Mamamoo is the group that opened my eyes and ears to kpop in 2016. They are and always will be a goddess level group in every aspect! Enjoy your journey😊
You don't know how much I liked your reaction! Many times the lyrics of the songs go unnoticed in the reactions I watch. Mamamoo is a wonderful group with unique and awesome individuals! Looking forward to the next reactions!
Mamamoo has one of the strongest vocal lines of all time. Solar is one of my ult biases. I just love her vocals. She has very high resonating voice and whenever she hits a high my soul just leaves from my body.
Never to late to get into Mamamoo. "Stary Night" was filmed in New Zealand.. A great guide to Mamamoo would be " introducing Mamamoo parts 1 & 2 by Purple Hawke. There is also a more recent guide to Mamamoo by Mooyt, others here have also mentioned it. Some great performance videos would be Mamamoo Killing voice( a Medley of their songs) Mamamoo Immortal Songs Medley( amazing covers of classic Korean songs). Now in my opinion most popular doesn't always equals their best. Best is a very subjective term and that would be different for each person.
The rapper is Moon Byul & she is an androgynous icon! 😻💜 You should check out “Gleam” & “Gogobebe” & “Decalcomanie” & “Wind Flower”! & def Hwa Sa’s (“I’m a B” & Maria” & here new track with Loco “Lemon”) & Moon Byul’s (“Selfish” w/ Red Velvet’s Seulgi, “Loonatic” which has an English version too, “Shutdown” w/ Seori which is… sapphic)
Yes Mamamoo! Wind Flower might be my fav. main release. The more you get to know them, who they are and the ridiculous discography you'll be a Moomoo in no time.
Hip has so many views because it was Mamamoo's comeback after winning the first Queendom and they gained a lot of fans. Mamamoo was the most famous group on Queendom already but they really leveled up afterwards.
OH MY GOODNESS YES YES, so Sorry I'm late but that's okay! I am so glad that you FINALLY reacted to these girls they are QUEENS they're known as Vocal Queens (with Red Velvet) they are also known to be more Sexy and Mature as you can see also I am so happy that you reacted to Starry Night I think that song is kind of underrated it was my first ever song from them and it will always be my favorite and or at least have a special place in my heart the Vocals are insane and the Visuals are just WOW (Just so you know they filmed that in New Zealand) but the other songs are also VERY ICONIC just WOW! Anyways here are the Members to help you out from Oldest to Youngest (Also you should know that Moonbyul and Wheein are the ones that usually have the bangs, and I know you know everyone else pretty well except Wheein but you should get to know each Member better!) *Solar* (Leader, and Vocalist): She is an absolute POWERHOUSE this girl can sing but also she is a crackhead one of the main crackheads and we love her for it she is the one with the very long blonde hair in both Starry Night and Egotistic she was also the one on the pole (after Egotistic she actually started pole dancing in her performances), and in Hip she was the boxer and the one with the half black and half pink hair, also do not take her Moonbyul away from her she will hurt you! *Moonbyul* (Rapper, and Performer): You can already tell who she is, she is the deep voiced rapper one of the deepest in K - Pop and my favorite or at least one of my favorite Rappers she is just FANTASTIC as you can see she is also one of the dancers in the Group as well and even though she Raps she has such a Beautiful Vocal, and not to mention she is VERY greasy if you don't know what the means it means flirty and cheesy and she does it to EVERYONE especially Solar she also likes to be called Handsome more than Beautiful! *Wheein* (Vocalist, and Performer): She is the one you keep talking about her Voice, her Voice is ABSOLUTELY GORGOEUS it literally sounds like honey but she can go crazy every now and then on the high notes, she is also the most introverted but also a big crackhead they also call her Puppy or Wheepup she is the one with the short blonde hair in Starry Night, she was the one with the Long Brown hair with the Bangs in Egotistic and yes she has tattoos (not all of those were real but some), and in HIP she was the one in the suit who was painting with the blue hair and purple eyebrows. One last thing her and Hwasa have been friends since Middle school and they have matching tattoos (she has the most tattoos)! *Hwasa* (Vocalist, Rapper, and Maknae): You already know her she usually is the one with black hair long or short sometimes she changes it but not as much and you can tell she is the one with the real jazzy/husky voice and don't get me started on her body just WOW, and even though she seems like the oldest she is actually the youngest which is crazy and even though she seems really sexy and intimidating she is actually a huge sweetheart and she is also the Queen of Queens because she does not care what anyone thinks! To wrap it all up Moonbyul and Wheein are the Performers/Dancers in the Group, Solar, Wheein, and Hwasa are the Vocalists, Moonbyul and Hwasa are the Rappers, and Solar is the Leader and even though they have those roles they can literally do any role (also for HIP I understand it's not my favorite either but I think it's so popular because of how much there is in it like you already talked about the protesting about pollution, they also had Drag Queens in the Video as well, and it's to fire back at the haters like the President Hwasa thing people were hating on her because of the outfit she wore at the Airport)! Anyways I hope that helped you out a little bit I can't wait for you to react to Mamamoo such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships! I can't wait for more content from you and I hope that you are doing well and staying safe and healthy Lauren! P.S. If you ever need any good videos I can totally help you out with that if you need it, also you should DEFINITELY check out a Guide to them as well the best one is from Purple Hawke!
Thanks for reacting to Mamamoo!! I love that you hone in on the lyrics, I really love Mamamoo's lyrics, they have all been involved in writing their own music & lyrics. Moonbyul (rapper) in particular writes most of her own raps, in fact, she is the highest credited female in KOMCA. I think you pose an interesting question, is their most popular song their best song? It's up to individual's taste I guess, for me, it's not haha. I really love their title track "Wind Flower", it's definitely not their most successful comeback but it is by far my favorite song. Similarly, their title track "Where Are We Now"" that they released for their 7th year anniversary has lyrics filled with meaning. I'm so glad you are going to react more to Mamamoo! I look forward to your next video!
Mamamoo debuted in 2014 they have been around for long time if you want to know more about them you should react to mamamoo’s introduction guide of 2022 by Moo YT. The guide is the updated version it has the current informations about them.
You got the basics of MMM right off the bat and a guide will help you fill in the blanks about the members but don't worry if you can't pick a bias - many fans can't. I prefer Purple Hawkes's two part Introducing Mamamoo but Moo YT's two part guide is also excellent and is newer so it's more up to date. As someone else suggested, why not watch both? :) I read all the comments so far and will try not to repeat what moomoos have already told you. Moomoos usually greet new fans by saying Welcome to the radish field! Mamamoo's fandom name is moomoo. Moo means radish and their official light stick is shaped like a daikon radish. You're what is known as a baby radish lol. Mamamoo is one of the deepest rabbit holes in Korean music so get ready for a wild ride into the wacky wonderland of one of the most fascinating and talented groups in kpop. There are dozens of MVs, both group and solo, over a dozen albums with fantastic b-sides, lots of OST songs and collabs and features with other artists and any moomoo will tell you that Mamamoo is best when they're live and there are literally hundreds of hours of MMM live videos available for you when you're ready. Moomoos will gleefully inundate you with suggestions. 😂 A couple people mentioned the 4 Season 4 Color project. Here's more info: Over the course of a year Mamamoo released four EPs in a series called 4 Season 4 Color, one album per season starting with Yellow Flower in March of 2018. You saw the first two title track MVs, Starry Night (Spring) and Egotistic (Summer). The Fall and Winter title tracks are Wind Flower and Gogobebe. Each album had a theme season & color and the album's title track explored a stage of love or a phase of being in or out of a relationship symbolized by that season's color. Each member was associated with one of the colors and each performed a self-composed solo song on her color's album. There's also a ton of cyclical symbolism related to seasons, stages of love, the life cycle of a person, and Asian philosophic concepts but that's the basic structure of the 4S4C project. 4 Season 4 Color is the most complex and ambitious project ever attempted by a kpop girl group but, as with almost everything about Mamamoo except their world class vocals, 4S4C seems to be underappreciated as an artistic achievement and an historic landmark in kpop history. Prior to the release of Yellow Flower & Starry Night they dropped a pre-release single called Paint Me, which is the theme song for the 4S4C project and the best introduction to the concepts and symbolism used throughout the series. Paint Me is also one of Mamamoo's vocal masterpieces and is my favorite MMM song. I think popularity rarely equates to artistic brilliance and personally I find many of the most popular kpop songs almost unlistenable. Of course "best" is subjective and just another word for someone's favorite but fwiw imho Mamamoo is one of if not the best girl group of all time in any era, language, country or genre of music, but their albums rarely sell more than 100K copies while the most popular kpop groups have album sales in the millions.
moonbyul (the rapper) is not only a good rapper but also a great lyricist, she wrote all her raps on hip and has written almost all her raps in general, making her the most credited female idol in history!
Starry Night is the first song that I heard from Mamamoo and I’ve been a fan ever since, the are vocal queens 👸! I do hope that you eventually react to all groups that were in your poll, as they are all great and all bring something different to the table.
Hip is popular for a mix of reasons. They had finished a successful 4-album "Four Seasons" series (including Starry Night and Egotistic title tracks) and just won the competition show Queendom in a dramatic fashion. Mamamoo were at the peak of their now eight-year career at the end of 2019 and Hip was the title track of the new album then. Hip's vocals are purposely easier because they planned to do stronger choreography with it, so regular people can sing and dance to it which is fun. It's one of the scarce Mamamoo songs other full idol groups (not just the main vocals) can cover so it got more exposure that way too.
If you get into the girls solo songs my favorites of the girls solo songs are: Lunatic by Moonbyul (the rapper who actually trained as a vocalist FIRST), Goodbye by Wheein, LMM by Hwasa, and Honey by Solar.
Mamamoo has always been open with their support to the LGBTQIA+ community... Wheein has a wlw themed MV and Moonbyul (the rapper) has a song that talks about wlw love intimacy in a really beautiful poetic way... Guide recommendation is the Introducing to MAMAMOO by Purple Hawke... Also it's okay to not have a bias, a lot of Moomoos can't pick a bias because these women are all really charming in their own way..
Congratulations on finding Mamamoo, Vocal Queens of kpop. I definitely suggest Mamamoo Killing Voice for the next introduction of Mamamoo, which they sang LIVE snippets of many their hit songs. And also, it will help you to recognize better which one is the rapper, the belter, the husky & honey voice & how those four tones harmonise beautifully. Welcome to Mamamoo journey.
So just a backstory on Hip the song was written after Hwasa got a lot of hate wearing an outfit at the airport with her pants unbuttoned and underwear out so Hip was basically a clap back to all the haters that’s why it said “president Hwasa dressed ridiculous at the airport”
Mamamoo is THAT group! They are THE VOCAL QUEENS of kpop. It’s funny that you talk about the rappers always being your bias because Moonbyul (the rapper/vocalist) is the most credited female rapper because she write all of her own rap verses. If you’re looking to learn more about Mamamoo I HIGHLY recommend Moo YT’s guide because it is currently the most up to date guide that has some amazing info on our girls ❤️ There is Purple Hawkes guide as well but it is about 2 years outdate. It has amazing information, as well as showing more of their personality. I’ll leave the links down below and I cannot wait to check out your reaction to more of them! 🫰🏽 The MAMAMOO Introduction Guide of 2022 (Part 1: Members): ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html The MAMAMOO Introduction Guide of 2022 (Part 2: Group): ua-cam.com/video/UYRzCrh4avs/v-deo.html
Thanks for your reaction. Here's a update introduction video (part 1 & 2) if you have interest ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/UYRzCrh4avs/v-deo.html Yes, Mamamoo is the 1st Kpop group invitating drag queen in the mv and they also invite a group of gender fluid dancers to perform in the 2016 Melon Music Awards Mamamoo is the vocal queens broking all the Korean standards of gg regarding beauty, fashion, gender, sexuality or female idol behavior in general and they stand up for themselves and what they believe in. However, if you are interested to know deeper, they're also known as one of the goofiest groups because their crackhead behavior. each member has a successful solo career on the side - MMM is the 1st group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group is still active. Moonbyul (the rapper) who is also a successful solo artist (means she sings more) and is now the most credited female artist of all time for songwriting on KOMCA
12:50 Yesss exactly. Every aspect of Mamamoo SCREAMS women. There's a reason why more than 90% of their fandom are females lol. Anyway, here's a few suggestions to get u started: 1. I recommend "Introducing Mamamoo" Part 1 and Part 2 by PurpleHawke as a first video guide for you, just to get a glimpse of the personality and characters of each members individually. Ofc there are newer and more updated one thats been coming out by others, but the one by PurpleHawke are the most popular. 2. For a brief look at their discography, I recommend "Mamamoo's Killing Voice" on Dingo's channel. 3. And for a taste of how they sound live on stage, I recommend their "Mamamoo Immortal Songs Medley" performance video. I think this three are the holy trinity of a baby Moo lol, just really effective videos to get you into Mamamoo. Anyway, welcome to the Moo fandom~ hope you enjoy your stay~ 💕
I know a lot of moomoos are recommending you the purple hawke guide but I think it's kinda outdated. I recommend you the mamamoo introduction guide of 2022 Part 1 and 2 by MOO YT. The creator said that they took inspiration from the purple hawke's guide, so it's really good
You can't go wrong with Mamamoo, they never disappoint. Undisputed vocal queens, successful soloists in their own right, empowering women and best of all, crackheads.
Thank you for checking out Mamamoo! I really enjoyed your reaction-it was a nice balance of allowing the songs to flow and react to them, but also pointing out and talking about specific elements, moments, and lyrics that really left an impression on you. Mamamoo got me into kpop! All of the members radiate such confidence and comfort in who they are and their own skin, it's really inspiring. I'd love to see you check out a guide and more of their songs! If you like jazzy vibes, two of their first songs, Mr. Ambiguous and Piano Man, are really amazing! For (somewhat) more recent songs, I also love Wind Flower and Dingga. Each member also has a solo career, and they're all fantastic! If you want to check out some of their solo songs, I recommend Lunatic for Moonbyul (that's the rapper in Mamamoo), Maria for Hwasa, Make Me Happy for Wheein, and Spit It Out for Solar (the leader of Mamamoo who was on the pole in Egotistic).
with Mamamoo, they are not afraid to try different genre in their music. they have one innocent type of song, but it was used as a ad song for Icarus game. Sky sky sky, the song is catchy but the mv is sooo very funny, to the point they all don't like the innocent concept. ahahaha TRue, Mamamoo focused on women empowerment and self positivity, defying Korean beauty standards. reasons why majority of their fandom are women and gay. ahaha guide of the members, highly recommended Purple Hawke's. Moonbyul the rapper, she wrote all of her parts. ON the pole dancing, it became Solar's interest during Egotistic, she performed on stage during their MAMA 2018, again defying knets. on the drag queen, Solar became friends with them. they made a vlog on drag make up on Solar's YT channel ua-cam.com/video/P3WriLfkEOc/v-deo.html Egotistic the concert version is lit! Try their KILLING VOICE so you an appreciate their live vocals.
Can't say that 'Hip' is their best. Cause all of their songs are on another level. 🤣 Mamamoo level. Honestly, just randomly pick a Mamamoo song and it will be good. It would just really depend on your genre preference cause their discography is so diverse. Almost every album would have sensual, quirky, rebellious, and ballad songs. Earlier albums would be more of jazzy and funk. You probably would've already guessed that I'm a solid moomoo. 🤣
Ooohhhh girl! You're in for a treat. What's amazing about Mamamoo is that their lyrics are not just something handed to them to sing but it's a reflection of their actual experiences. Unlike other idols, these women personally experienced past relationships and heartaches so trust me, they know what they're singing about. Just to give you a bit of a context on HIP. It's an empowerment anthem. They are dressed as women with careers that they personally picked "who will you become in 3 other universes if you're not Mamamoo". They're saying whatever you do, as long as you love yourself , that's enough. You're hip. HIP is an experimental song from Mamamoo but this is not their signature style. Also not a lot of old Moomoos' favorite and that's okay. They have a HUGE music discography with different genres of music since they never stopped making music since 2014. All members aso have solo albums. Sorry to overwhelm you. But take your time. You will never regret discovering these amazing artists.
Solar took up pole dancing to help get over a back injury. She'd only had her first lesson before Egotistic. If you'd like to see her do it live on stage check out her Despacito cover. Starry Night is shot in New Zealand. Their video Star, Wind, Flower, Sun was shot there at the same time. It's a love song to the fans and the group members written by Solar. Her cover song Where the Wind Rises and Oneus's (brother group) A Song Written Easily were also shot there. In addition to being a response to haters Hip is about what would the members be if they were not Mamamoo? Hwasa is president, a single mother, and a solo jazz singer. Moonbyul is a director, a choreographer and the CEO of a music company, Wheein is an artist and an activist and and indie singer songwriter, Solar is champion boxer, front man for a drag queen rock group, and the daughter of the emperor's concubine. There were 12 trailers containing a lot of content about how the way their characters in the other universes interacted with each other.
If you like the message of HIP, then you'll probably also enjoy the message of their song Yes I Am, which is very much along the same lines of "I'm confident, and I'm gonna wear/do what I want, screw what anyone else thinks"
MAMA MAMA MAMAMOO!!!! Can't get enough Mamamoo! Best vocals in the business. When Mamamoo takes the stage better put the kiddies to bed, cause the adults have come to play. More Mamamoo, please react to their live performance KILLING VOICE. Looking forward to many more of your reactions to Mamamoo, so now I'm a new subscriber. The best guide to Mamamoo is still Introducing Mamamoo by Purple Hawke
I'm only talking title tracks here, but when you've had a more or less consistent sound during your career, like Twice or Blackpink have, talking about best songs make sense. But Mamamoo have done fierce, sexy, badass, weird and funny songs, no to forget a handful or more of heartbreaking ballads, so talking about best songs is a lot more difficult. I don't think there can be one song that encapsulates all these moods anyway, at least not a very good one :)
Mamamoo's guide from 2020 from purple hawk is the best when it comes to introducing the members. ua-cam.com/video/PVzvILc7Qxs/v-deo.html however there is a 2022 one that doesnt go into as much detail about the members, but it talks about mamamoo as a group, their message and story of sucess etc... ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html (both guides have 2 parts each, but honestly, if you have the time, i would recommend u watch both to get the full picture, as that would be perfect!!)
First time coming across your channel and really loved your reaction to Mamamoo. It was great that you did more than one to get a flavour of their songs. It may have been mentioned that that Mamamoo discography has a wide genre of music. They don't stick to one genre, but are able to make any genre of song sound good. You'll see as you dive into more of their songs. I appreciated your call outs to some of their lyrics because as you've observed they have some really positive messages. Mamamoo is not your typical girl group. They don't conform to the normal girl group expectations as you've already noticed. They do make bold statements and are not afraid to speak out (or sing out) messages reflecting their beliefs. Their positive message for women is one of the things I love about them. If you loved the empowerment messages here, you will also enjoy songs like 'Yes I Am' and 'Wanna Be Myself'. As for a guide, I know many will call out the 2020 one from Purple Hawke. It is a great guide but it is also not up-to-date on the member information. I would recommend the 2022 Guide from Moo YT which is inspired by the Purple Hawke guide, as that has the most up-to-date information on the members and their work. The Purple Hawke one is also worth checking out for fun. Looking forward to more Mamamoo content on your channel which I've now subscribed to. Btw, you should try to get their MVs from the Mamamoo YT channel for subtitles as some of the other channels don't have subtitles, especially for some of their older songs. Oh and if rappers are your thing, you're in for a treat with Moonbyul who is one of the top rappers in Kpop. She has her own unique rapping style, her flow is no joke and is able to rap to any style of music and make it sound good. She writes all her own raps and is the most credited female artist on KOMCA. Her rap parts of often one of my favorite parts of Mamamoo songs. The songs here other than Hip didn't really showcase that as much but you may want to check out Gleam, Decalcomanie, their live Queendom performance AOA's Good luck, Taller Than You, Mr. Ambiguous (their debut song).
I'm glad that you've found my queens 🤭 They gave me so much comfort and confidence with their songs. And btw. Thank you for covering Mamamoo. You should cover Decalcomanie, Gogobebe and their underrated song (Wind flower).
Loved your reaction, you really appreciate what you watch! I'd reccommend to you the mvs for AYA, Wind flower and Mr. Ambiguous(their debut). Oh! And their killing voice medley from dingo!!!! But dont feel pressured, its important to take things in your own speed and rest aswell
They are such an amazing group, they always empower women and always teach us self-love and confidence. They are also not afraid to stand up for themselves and they support lgbtqia+. If you want more songs of them like that react to their Yes I am, Wanna Be Myself, and AHH OOP. Thank you for reacting to Mamamoo 💚🐮 and PURPLE HAWKE IS one of the best guides for mamamoo
So far I'm loving this reaction, you actually seems interested in them.Just one thing, Mamamoo isn't really girl crush. They don't stick to concepts but rather genre if that makes sense. They have a wide variety of songs, jazzy,R&B,pop, rock, funky, ballad.
@@raaina3611 So what songs would you characterize as "girl crush concept", then? I mean, look at Decalcomanie, they are wearing tuxedos. If that's not girl crush, I don't know what is.
Moonbyul :- height - 1.63 , talent - main rapper, and main dancer ,and lead vocalist, solar :- height- 1.61 , talent - main vocalist, leader , lead vocal , wheein :- height - 1.59 talent- lead dancer, lead vocalist , hwasa :- height - 1.60 talent - lead rapper, main vocal, makne , all queen 👑👑👑👑 ❣️❣️❣️❣️ mamamoo is the best 😎🤟🔥🔥🔥 please reaction more mamamoo MVs 😆🥰
HIP is actually co-written by Hwasa and is a clap-back against all the haters who criticize her airport fashion and fashion in general. The panty sticking out line is a reference to a airport outfit she actually wore.
alright honey you'll enjoy your moomoo ride please watch immortal songs medley thats all thank you anyway the first two songs are from the 4season4colour so you may continue with wind flower [ hella underrated ] and gogobebe
omg Lauren! I'm so glad I found another Canadian ready to appreciate these talents. You should check out the PURPLE HAWKE guide....cause its absolutely brilliant. It's not that it's old (2020) it's just that Mamamoo doesn't know how to sit still and have done SO much since then haha. You'll have a blast catching up. :)
Yes they are drag queens, they even used genderfluid dancers for their Melon Music Awards 2016 performance and Korea was more conservative for those topics at that time and they did it on one of the most popular award shows in the country. Also Wheein (the one with the blue hair in HIP mv) has used lgbt storyline for her Goodbye mv. Solar, the leader has invited on of the drag queens on her youtube channel also she sometimes makes videos about serious topics such as polar bears, female genital mutilations etc.
ALSO i just want to point out: a lot of people don't get the whole pole dancing situation in a song called Egotistic (they think it's just a visual filler)....but it makes perfect sense....it's a clever metaphor for "everything revolves around you"...an egoist.
The first idol group I stan 😂 Love their vibes, their music just golds 💯 I recommend this guide from MOO YT because it's new Part 1 : Mamamoo Members Introductions ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html Part 2 : Mamamoo Timeline ua-cam.com/video/UYRzCrh4avs/v-deo.html
Nice to see a new Moomoo discovering Mamamoo. They really are the best vocalists and the reason they are is shockingly they were told they are not beautiful to the then Korean Idol standards and if they wanted to make it, they had to become the best live performers ever and have the best vocal talent, up there with the best of the best. So Mamamoo did it, they really are up with the best vocally and for performance. So see live stuff because they sing that well live. Moonbyul is the rapper, Wheein was the short haired one in Starry Night, Hwasa you commented on President Hwasa and Solar is the leader and was on the pole the one you are in love with and is also my Bias. all 4 also have recent Solo work, they do OSTs, one of the best examples of vocal talent is them singing about Pikachu, dressed as pokemon. They also write a lot of lyrics and some composing. They also do most genres, everything from retro big band jazz with MVs that could be in the 1920s or 1960s, country, reggae, rock, pop, a little of all of it. Since you are in love with Solar, try her Solarsido channel you can see covers of michael jackson, an acapella of a lady gaga song, more dances and the pole or check out her new album Face, live performance video. Starry Night was filmed in new zealand. The story behind the Pole is Solar hurt her back and did that for physical therapy and ended up including it in that MV and then live performances. Search Solar Despacito for a good one. Just search Mamamoo, everything is good.
thank you for reacting to MAMAMOO♥ If you want a good and updated guide to them this one is the way to go: ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html since is pretty new and well detailed. can't wait for more MAMAMOO!!
Yaass! I wouldn't call Mamamoo as a girl group, tbh. In my mind, they were always a WOMAN group (yes even during debut). After wading around Kpop land, I just realized that girlcrush isn't my thing...I prefer the whole woman-crush Mamamoo offered. And the vocals are just chef's kiss x100000. Starry Night was the first song I heard from them and watching your reaction reminded me of how mindblown I was of the sceneries in the MV back then. I loved the song sooo much I downloaded an instrumental version of it and made it my daily alarm ringtone! Thank you so much for reacting to them and looking forward to your journey with Mamamoo! (Please react to their song, Aya. It's soooo idk I love it too!)
HIP I guess shows that whatever alternate life they lived it would've still be controversial and break boundaries, but as we can see from their lyrics they "don't care" because they make it "HIP". Thank you for listening to Mamamoo Edit: Fun fact: Solar in a princess dress in Hip MV is because she's from a royal bloodline, so if she wasn't in mamamoo she would've been either a boxer or a princess.
This is the best and latest Mamamoo guide there is part 1 and 2 the first is with each member ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html and the second as a group ua-cam.com/video/UYRzCrh4avs/v-deo.html It is inspired by the purple Hawke guide but more updated with the latest comback.
You've found the Vocal Queens of Kpop. Mamamoo never disappoints. You may want to see their Dingo Killing Voice because they are always better live!
Ooh I’ll definitely add that to the list! Thanks 😊
You will NOT be disappointed with this recommendation!!
@Lauren Claire (LC) Starry Night was filmed in New Zealand 🇳🇿
I highly recommend My Star 🌟 live performance at F/W and destiny and destiny 2
The thing about "HIP" is that is a statement to haters and media. Specially Hwasa. If you look for the story behind the video it makes us think how much us women need to fight just to have half of the rights and good treatment boys are just born with. And yes, they're are drag queens.
Once they performed with a gender-fluid group called Pink Cheeks at Melon Music 2016.
Just like Dreamcatcher, they're are one of the few groups that openly support their LGBTQIA+ fans.
That’s amazing!! Love to see them making a statement like that
"makes us think how much us women need to fight just to have half of the rights and good treatment boys are just born with"
This is 2022, not 1960
Wheein said that they did hip to prove that they can do more than just vocals that they can dance to because people kept saying they where only good at vocals
Though I’ll likely have to put Queendom on my Patreon
Love to see them openly supporting the lgbtq+ community!!
Another time they showed up one time in Teletubby costumes.
yes! agree with everything you said but i would like to add that theres a pretty good 2022 guide made by MOOYT (i think)
@@kyralin6313 yeah, that guide includes more updated content and their newest solo cbs
@@Whee1ndmud i totally agree but im still in love with the purple hawke guide 😅
Ooh thank you so much for all this info and for the guide rec!! They seem like such badasses 💪
@@raniafarah492 haha me too. the editing is great and its hilarious. hope purple hawke will make a new one eventually
100% Yes! :)
Thank you for the guide rec!! Excited to hear their powerhouse vocals 💪💪
@@laurenclaire Cool! Can't wait! :)
Thanks so much for the guide rec!
Mamamoo is the group that opened my eyes and ears to kpop in 2016. They are and always will be a goddess level group in every aspect! Enjoy your journey😊
Thanks so much! Excited to get into them more 😄
You don't know how much I liked your reaction! Many times the lyrics of the songs go unnoticed in the reactions I watch. Mamamoo is a wonderful group with unique and awesome individuals! Looking forward to the next reactions!
Subscribed to see your Mamamoo journey 😊
same 😊
Start Night was filmed in New Zealand. The ending part was a preview of Hwasa's solo song on this album.
Mamamoo has one of the strongest vocal lines of all time. Solar is one of my ult biases. I just love her vocals. She has very high resonating voice and whenever she hits a high my soul just leaves from my body.
Lauren: "Who's Solar?..Oh, so the girl i said I was in love with.."
Me: SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some great performance videos would be Mamamoo Killing voice( a Medley of their songs)
Mamamoo Immortal Songs Medley( amazing covers of classic Korean songs).
Now in my opinion most popular doesn't always equals their best. Best is a very subjective term and that would be different for each person.
If u want vocals, Mamamoo will serve u. Looking forward for more Mamamoo reaction 🤟🏻
The vocal queens of kpop🥰🧯🔥
The rapper is Moon Byul & she is an androgynous icon! 😻💜 You should check out “Gleam” & “Gogobebe” & “Decalcomanie” & “Wind Flower”!
& def Hwa Sa’s (“I’m a B” & Maria” & here new track with Loco “Lemon”) & Moon Byul’s (“Selfish” w/ Red Velvet’s Seulgi, “Loonatic” which has an English version too, “Shutdown” w/ Seori which is… sapphic)
Starry Night was filmed in my country New Zealand 😂
Wind flower by mamamoo is a masterpiece. I recomend Decalcomanie and Yes I am too. They are talented and powerful women
Mamamoo was the most famous group on Queendom already but they really leveled up afterwards.
please check out more mamamoo! I can already tell you'll love them even more :)
Definitely will!! And a couple of people have recommended that I check out your guide 😝
Anyways here are the Members to help you out from Oldest to Youngest (Also you should know that Moonbyul and Wheein are the ones that usually have the bangs, and I know you know everyone else pretty well except Wheein but you should get to know each Member better!)
*Solar* (Leader, and Vocalist): She is an absolute POWERHOUSE this girl can sing but also she is a crackhead one of the main crackheads and we love her for it she is the one with the very long blonde hair in both Starry Night and Egotistic she was also the one on the pole (after Egotistic she actually started pole dancing in her performances), and in Hip she was the boxer and the one with the half black and half pink hair, also do not take her Moonbyul away from her she will hurt you!
Thank you so much for all this info!! Really looking forward to getting into them more 😁
Thanks for reacting to Mamamoo!!
The guide is the updated version it has the current informations about them.
i need more mamamoo
youll love mamamoo as they project a mature woman empowered group
They have a very diverse discography. So you will get to experience a wide range of concepts and genres in their mvs and songs.
A couple people mentioned the 4 Season 4 Color project. Here's more info:
Over the course of a year Mamamoo released four EPs in a series called 4 Season 4 Color, one album per season starting with Yellow Flower in March of 2018.
Of course "best" is subjective and just another word for someone's favorite but fwiw imho Mamamoo is one of if not the best girl group of all time in any era, language, country or genre of music, but their albums rarely sell more than 100K copies while the most popular kpop groups have album sales in the millions.
armymoos this fandom like mamamoo and bts are supportive of each other as well
yes! mamamoo is a more mature group. here are the ages of the members in case you’re curious:
solar: 31
moonbyul: 29
wheein: 27
hwasa: 27
moonbyul (the rapper) is not only a good rapper but also a great lyricist, she wrote all her raps on hip and has written almost all her raps in general, making her the most credited female idol in history!
HIP was their first comeback after winning Queendom, so that extra hype factor definitely added to the viewership and plays of the song
I believe Starry Night was filmed in New Zealand.
Starry Night is the first song that I heard from Mamamoo and I’ve been a fan ever since, the are vocal queens 👸! I do hope that you eventually react to all groups that were in your poll, as they are all great and all bring something different to the table.
Yes I hope so! Not sure how long it’ll take but I really do want to check out red velvet, everglow and (G)I-dle as well
Hip is popular for a mix of reasons.
I know this is a year old video, but I just subbed because of the book on your table.

Yes, Mamamoo is the 1st Kpop group invitating drag queen in the mv and they also invite a group of gender fluid dancers to perform in the 2016 Melon Music Awards
Mamamoo is the vocal queens broking all the Korean standards of gg regarding beauty, fashion, gender, sexuality or female idol behavior in general and they stand up for themselves and what they believe in.
Anyway, here's a few suggestions to get u started:
The creator said that they took inspiration from the purple hawke's guide, so it's really good
I second this.
Yes! Mamamoo is built different form all of KPOP! They are so amazing LIVE! Queens of all Queens!
welcome to the vocals group
i subscribed to follow ur mamamoo journey
new moomoo gogo
Vocal Queens 😍😍
with Mamamoo, they are not afraid to try different genre in their music. they have one innocent type of song, but it was used as a ad song for Icarus game. Sky sky sky, the song is catchy but the mv is sooo very funny, to the point they all don't like the innocent concept. ahahaha
TRue, Mamamoo focused on women empowerment and self positivity, defying Korean beauty standards. reasons why majority of their fandom are women and gay. ahaha
guide of the members, highly recommended Purple Hawke's.
Moonbyul the rapper, she wrote all of her parts.
ON the pole dancing, it became Solar's interest during Egotistic, she performed on stage during their MAMA 2018, again defying knets. on the drag queen, Solar became friends with them. they made a vlog on drag make up on Solar's YT channel ua-cam.com/video/P3WriLfkEOc/v-deo.html
Egotistic the concert version is lit!
Hi Lauren! We need more about MAMAMOO!
Fun Fact about Mamamoo: They're the Vocal Queens of Kpop and the most self-produced female group of Kpop.
Please react to more Mamamoo the vocal queens ! Recomend Mamamoo Dingo Killing Voice, is a live performance.
Welcome to the Mamamoo supremacy!
My favorite girl group ever! Mamamoo!!! Be strong and independent women!!
There's a reason why Ateez and Mamamoo are my ult groups and it's called TALENT. I love them so much, thanks for this reaction. 💓
Yes the vocal queens of kpop! 🥰
Thanks for reacting them.
Thanks for reacting to MAMAMOO!!
I loved your reaction!! Can't wait to see more ^_^
Welcome to the never ending journey of mamamoo. You should react to their More recent guide on the channel of mooyt
Mamamoo's guide from 2020 from purple hawk is the best when it comes to introducing the members. ua-cam.com/video/PVzvILc7Qxs/v-deo.html
however there is a 2022 one that doesnt go into as much detail about the members, but it talks about mamamoo as a group, their message and story of sucess etc... ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html
(both guides have 2 parts each, but honestly, if you have the time, i would recommend u watch both to get the full picture, as that would be perfect!!)
Yay!! The queens!!!!!
Their killing voice videos is definitely next!! U wont be dissapointed
MAMAMOO are queen's ✨
Mamamoo are complete performers. I love them so much so proud to be their moomoo❤️🇧🇷
I love Mamamoo 🔥❤️❤️❤️☀️⭐️🌬🌸
🤨 They have a song literally called Girl Crush. Moonbyul is the biggest girl crush in Korea.
@@anonygent What??Girl crush(the song) is literally R&B, Mamamoo are girl crushes not their songs. They never did girl crush concept.
@@raaina3611 So what songs would you characterize as "girl crush concept", then? I mean, look at Decalcomanie, they are wearing tuxedos. If that's not girl crush, I don't know what is.
yess mamamoo is a vocal queens ❤️
If you watch the first 5-6 MVs, please watch them in order so you can catch all the references.
alright honey you'll enjoy your moomoo ride
please watch immortal songs medley thats all thank you
anyway the first two songs are from the 4season4colour so you may continue with wind flower [ hella underrated ] and gogobebe
Please reaction mamamoo more❤️
ALSO i just want to point out: a lot of people don't get the whole pole dancing situation in a song called Egotistic (they think it's just a visual filler)....but it makes perfect sense....it's a clever metaphor for "everything revolves around you"...an egoist.
The first idol group I stan 😂
Love their vibes, their music just golds 💯
I recommend this guide from MOO YT because it's new
Part 1 : Mamamoo Members Introductions

Part 2 : Mamamoo Timeline

You should check out their live vocals on Killing Voice. So talented.
You're right Mamamoo (and Dreamcatcher) are older than the typical Kpop groups, they sing for adults, their songs will age very well.
thank you for reacting to MAMAMOO♥
If you want a good and updated guide to them this one is the way to go: ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html since is pretty new and well detailed.
can't wait for more MAMAMOO!!
Yes! My favorite girl group!!
hip is more trendy...have to watch mamamoo on killing voice on dingo or mamamoo immortal songs medddley
You didn't get wrong reacting to them and try keeping up with them coz they are interesting talented beings.
HIP I guess shows that whatever alternate life they lived it would've still be controversial and break boundaries, but as we can see from their lyrics they "don't care" because they make it "HIP". Thank you for listening to Mamamoo
Edit: Fun fact: Solar in a princess dress in Hip MV is because she's from a royal bloodline, so if she wasn't in mamamoo she would've been either a boxer or a princess.
This is the best and latest Mamamoo guide there is part 1 and 2 the first is with each member ua-cam.com/video/c5VpPrwjziM/v-deo.html
and the second as a group
ua-cam.com/video/UYRzCrh4avs/v-deo.html
It is inspired by the purple Hawke guide but more updated with the latest comback.
