Sam hit the nail on the head……Kody didn’t give his wives any loyalty or respect yet he demanded it from them. The way he talks about his wives is so degrading. He doesn’t deserve any type of respect!!
Kody is one of those people who thinks his existence is what makes him worthy of respect. Not his behavior, just the fact that he is.
You are so absolutely correct 100%
Well said!
Nailed it!!
It’s infuriating
Kody's attude of existance respect. Was cultivated by the wives OG3 & sobin Robyn. Along with his parents too. Don't forget the extreem manosphere+ sovern citizen movement. That currently is popular in today's society. "It''s all Ego Baby. "
Said the gloved , KoVid Kody King Kong . From the Flagstaff of Kingdumb of Koyote Pass. Look at the Mountinnnns...🏔️ Meri shush up and build me a barn for my many ATVs. And you can live there too.
Christine said a good sister wife would not monopolize the time of the husband. Also, a good sister wife would build relationships with his children instead of refusing to let them in her house.
My son had that surgery. It’s brutal. The recovery is rough. That he just opted out makes me hate him for Ysabel.
Hearing that she kept asking for him while the anesthesia was wearing off, when she was going back and forth being confused is so heartbreaking.
My son had that surgery too. It was 9 hours in surgery and many months of recovery. Kody is a jackass for not helping Christine and Ysabel.
Kody warns Ysabell to not become a bitter housewive. If he doesn't go to her surgery (vacation). Poor Ysabell thought she was in Kody's family. Only Robyn's brood is in the family. Not any of the OG13 children .
I do recall that Kody didn't want Ysabell to have ugly scar on her back too.🐛
He could have helped Christine when they got home.
@@Patricia-vm9ys she asked for help the only volunteer was Janelle
Gwen was asked on her patreon if Kody was better when the cameras were off and she said he was worse. Much worse.
I remember him saying that!
*her---Gwen.
That's just heartbreaking!
That is heartbreaking 💔
How beautiful a human is Sam that he doesn't want to say negative things about the train wreck that is Cody! You are both such beautiful people! I really just adore you both! 😘
You two cover SW with such respect for the family. Sam you brought me to tears when you didn’t want to say anything negative about the Browns and wished they were an imagined family. You prove there are still gentlemen in the world. Thanks for both of your kindness in discussing hard topics. You Rock!
I cried a happy tear too, for the integrity I can see in Sam. So happy for Melissa and Sam. If I could raise my sons to be like Sam I’d be honored .
Thank you so much ❤️
Now you've got me crying. Thank you ❤️
I had a back surgery when I was a teen. The anesthesia definitely makes you feel foggy.I balled my eyes out when I asked to see my big brother and he wasn’t there. So you are still aware of who’s there and who’s not.
Sam, your reluctance to speak negatively about Kody actually speaks volumes and is so impactful.
Kody only cared about losing Christine's money -- not Christine herself.
Melissa, I’m so happy for you after hearing how passionate your husband is loyalty and treating his wife correctly I know you must be so blessed happiness to you both
I'm gonna have to steal, "Señor King of the World" for future sarcastic use 😄
Happy 10 year engagement day! I've really enjoyed your commentary on this show. I learned a lot.
It drove me crazy that kody and robyn acted so scared of covid and like they were the safest, but gwen revealed that they all got the vaccine and kody and robyn and their kids didn’t.
Not getting the vaccine is the smartest thing Kody has ever done. I know so many people who got sick & died from it. Many fast growing cancers, 2 dropped dead, 1 lost use of his legs because of clots. Horrible poison.
Kody punishing them for their choice is a hallmark of an abuser.
Always moving the goal post and making them jump thru hoops. In order to gain love and attention- so sick and twisted
Kody did an interview on a Mormon channel (I can't remember the name) But I would love your reaction to it since it's mostly about his faith beliefs. Also, one of the callers at the end totally calls out Kody and it's glorious.
I think they did do a reaction video to that a while back
He also is so sad that Robin’s daughter was quarantined for so long in the basement, but nothing about being away from other kids over and over for long periods.
I really believe he made that statement to show Robyn’s kids suffered separation too. ( only weeks, not months)I don’t believe he actually cared what kids or wives he was separated from. Except from Robyn.
I love hearing from you guys. You’re both just so awesome and good hearted. I appreciate your hard work.
Y’all are spot on…so enjoyed Sam mocking Kody
My guilty pleasure 😂. Go Sam 😊
I’m not sure what a good sister wife is but Kody says “A bad sister wife takes her kids away from her husband.” He is referring to Christine, but it’s interesting to note that Robyn also did this.
The OG3 wives encouraged Kody to go to the other wives' homes. They made him spend time with the whole family. But Sobyn played dumb and told Kody, "Okay, if that's what you want."
right! if robyn cared, she'd have locked him out & made him stay w/ her sister wives, not let him stay.
Yes!! At the very least, it means she should at least acknowledge the unfairness she accepted.
I like spicy Sam! 😂 I think Kody brings out the frustration in all of us. I'm not an expert but I think your guys' analysis of him and the family dynamics is spot on, and I admire that even when you are calling him out on his bull**** you both are respectful and compassionate in a way not many would be. Kudos and best wishes to you two and your family!
Finally! 😂 I feel so validated. Both of you bring a kindness, a genuine grace in attitude towards people in general, a spirit of fairness, if you will, in your reviews of the Brown family (and in general). It's a giant part of your channel for me. It's easy to hate on Kody and shred him to bits, but you both have offered other insights into "Well, maybe Kody is acting this way because of such and such." And again, I love that about your channel. But FINALLY, to even see Sam so frusrated and just calling Kody out! And both of you finally able to say, yeah, Kody is being a huge jerk here. I feel as if two people as kind and fair as you are, given your religious background and experiences, comes to similar conclusions as the main, viewing audience--it somehow adds an authenticity to our (non-Mormon-based) conclusions. Sister Wives is what brought me to your channel and for that, I am so thankful. Looking forward to more from you both. Thank you for ALL your hard work. YOU both make such a positive change in this world. All the good on ya! ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️
Kody doesn't know what polygamy means to him. Kody had no expectations or understanding of polygamy. He did not grow up in polygamy. His parents joined the AUB and brought in another wife while Kody was away on mission. He did not see the jealousy. He did not see the adjustments. He did not experience growing up with the competition or jealousy with other siblings from other mothers. When he came home from mission, he saw the respect that other men in the AUB had for his dad. Kody had no life goals of his own. He is follower. He wanted the respect of the other men and his dad. It never felt like polygamy was a religious calling to him. Kody had experienced growing up in monogamy and having several girlfriends in high school. The girls in high school all got along with each other. It felt like he had assumed that polygamy was more of the same with the added bonus of sex with multiple women, having children and gaining the respect of the men.
Meri grew up in polygamy from the age of 9. She was indifferent to becoming a polygamous before she met Kody but she knew how it worked. Meri was a perfectionist trying to become the perfect polygamous wife with the perfect polygamous family. Meri was in charge of how the family should work. Kody fell in with Meri's rules because she knew more than he did and he did not want the responsibility.
Janelle did not grow up in polygamy. Her mom had several monogamous marriages. Janelle's childhood was unsettled and she had several 'dads'. She knew nothing about polygamy and did not start researching it until she married Meri's brother Adam (her first husband). After her divorce, she remained friends with Meri and Kody. Janelle was attracted to the religious side of the polygamous, communal lifestyle: extended family, some sex, expected to have lots of kids, independence, a safety net, security). The man was not the draw. Janelle's inclusion was rough because neither she nor Kody had considered or had previous experience of the realities of polygamy.
Christine grew up in polygamy with the title of 'entitled princess'. She had a very idealized view of polygamy. It never occurred to her to not enter polygamy. She added weight to the family as to how polygamy was supposed to function. She added support to what Meri was trying to put in place. She did it with childlike smiles, giggles and going along to get along. It always felt like Kody left everything up to the women to decide. He would let them fight it out and accept whatever they decided. Where each lived. How money was earned. How money was spent. How they would function/not function as a family. How the kids would be raised. The schedule and whose bed he slept in each night. etc. Kody was reasonably happy with the arrangement because it meant that he did not have to lead or make decisions. He got to play the fun guy.
A matriarchy had evolved.
Robyn disrupted the family with her insistence of her definition of polygamy: a patriarchy lead by a strong man, separate monogamy, each wife lives separate (her 2 moms lived in different states), minimal interaction of the families, being the 'mistress' wife (aka set up a competition with the other wives for attention). The Brown family living arrangements and relationships were foreign to her. She made Kody think and reconsider.
Robyn made Kody believe he needed to establish a patriarchy to impress her. Until then he had never considered that it could be different. Kody liked what Robyn was selling.
Kody never explained to the other wives that he wanted to change the rules and arrangements. Kody just let the original family disintegrate through neglect. Kody is no agent of positive change. He was no head of the family. He abdicated family leadership. When he did make a decision, it meant chaos to all. He kept waiting for them to exhaust themselves, to figure it out on their own what he wanted and fall in line. Then he gets angry when the first 3 wives and children move on the independent lives with out him. The OG3 wives and kids outgrew him and left him behind.
Kudos! You have one of the most insightful views I have seen on this family. I agree 100%!
Ah! Sam is finally seeing and feeling what we've all been experiencing for the last few seasons! It's so sweet that Sam doesn't like to say negative things, but Kody is NUTS and at some point you got to call a spade a spade. Welcome to our world Sam! 😂😂
Thank you for making these commentaries about the show, your perspective has been enlightening!
Don't hold back..... It's not talking bad about people when you're just stating the facts! If someone doesn't want someone to state unfavorable facts about them, then they shouldn't act unfavorable!
What does the kody do? He sells fire arms, fire arm parts, and accessories. Ive been on his website im not a FA enthusiast but it all seems over priced to me. I believe some of the controversy is that you could purchase parts from him to build your own weapon without registering it 😒
Kody is no longer allowed to sell gun parts
Oh wow. Thank you for this insight.
The “ not attracted to Christine “ got me - they have seven kids am I right ? Sit the hell down Kody ! Christine and Janelle were both great sister wives.
Six plus one stillborn.
@@cathywithac thank you but for him to say he wasn’t attracted to her and have that many children give me a break
Meri 1, Janelle 6, Christine 6, Robyn 2 and 3 adopted
I love hearing your perspectives!
Would you ever consider re-watching season 18 at some point now that you have the full context of the first 17 seasons? It would be interesting to see if you pick up on anything that you may have missed the first time.
Yes! Please do this!
So very sad about Garrison. It’s hard to not believe Kody’s treatment of the boys did not play a part. Did the show also play a part? Would love to hear your thoughts about it. Is this something you can reflect on. In polygamy how is suicide viewed? Much love to Janelle and prayers for Gabe. I can’t imagine finding your brother.
You guys are such an adorable and charismatic couple that it's almost sickening... almost.
Great work. Keep 'em coming!
Can’t wait for you to come back for Season 19. I have really enjoyed your perspective on the Brown family.
I’m going to go back to the archives and watch any episodes I may have missed.
When Kody did not go to his daughter’s surgery, it was all I needed to know his character and Robyns. I would have insisted as a sister wife that he be with his daughter who needed him. His kids had a nanny, remember the one they got Covid from, so there is that.
Kody's reaction to his own experience having Covid has to be 1 of 2 things (or a little of both)
1.he either does have extreme anxiety around illness and is not willing to call it what it was (a extreme trauma response to past health issues with him and his family) or
2. He had to over-react and make it sound so close to death because that would be needed in his mind to justify how extreme he has acted and how much he allowed it to completely separate the family.
Robyn wasnt trying to break up the family? In season 6 she literally started the idea to burn his bag he used to go from one house to another. She got it burned and there went the rotation. She's not to be trusted.
Robyn put a note on her fridge. Instructioning the step kids to ask for permission to eat. That says alot. Kody was in her bed every night what did she think would happen?
He is a narcissist to say the least. He lost so many valuable relationships , including one with his son who has now passed away. Very very sad
He does that to all his older kids. The other child ( adult) is Gabe. I hope he gets all the help he needs
Haha!! You finally caught up and are as frustrated as we are when you first watched season 18.
So I joined mykelti’s patreon and she said some was Robyn and Kody but a lot of it was production too
I think Kody's change in attitude, is because he miscalculated his own family. He didn't realize that Christine was the center of the family! Those kids revolve around Christine. She raised them, did special things, always listened, let them raid her fridge, and loves everyone of them. So when Kody wanted to exclude Christine, the kids chose her. I think that shocked the hec out of him!!
I quit watching sister wives years ago but I watch another channel that speaks of it a lot. I enjoy your perspective a lot.
Kody seems to be a narcissist.
Are you a fan of Without a Crystal Ball? I am!
@@mienafriggstad3360 Yes.
This is my first time here watching your page. Have you read their book? Talking about contradiction! I think Kody and Robyn forgot what they had written.
“What do I call him?” An ass😂 a quick three letter word that says it all!
I literally just said that same thing out loud. Lol “An Ass!”
Damn I've never seen Sam so fired up XD i love it though.
I love y'all's channel !! I think one thing that hasn't been talked about is when Mary divorced Cody to marry Robin . At how Jenelle and Christine both trusted Mary to do the right thing by them and there children if something happened to Cody . Even with there issues . But I don't think they had the same trust in Robin . So I wonder if this played a part in there discussion to leave.
Wives leave the money that they make leaves too. He is used to taking their money and spending on things for himself and Robyn. Now that money is gone.
Hello to both of you. I'm wondering if after you've watched all the previous Seasons that you may have changed any of your thoughts in relationship to when you originally watched season 18? Just thought that that might be something interesting to think about now that you know everything that happened prior. I really enjoy your content and your perspective thank you.
We now understand a lot more about the brown family dynamic. Our opinions have definitely changed regarding some of our original thoughts.
Congratulations on finishing all the current seasons.
Now you are all caught up.
My ex always said he wouldn't consider our child his anymore if i ever left him. That made me stay too long, but i left eventually and our child never heard from him again😢 it feels like Kody has the same attitude
Gwendolyn--Christine's daughter--said on her channel that Kody was worse off camera.
I noticed that in the incredibly awkward good bye scene when Kody wouldn’t let the kids wanted to hug Truely goodbye and he hugged her Truely looked over at someone and mouthed Help me?
36:40 Not only that they've all grown up seeing how much time & attention he has had for Robyn & their kids together since she entered the family. The move to Az was a terrible "plan" if you were really looking to keep the family together. The other wives could already clearly see where he was spending his time in NV all right there together in the cul de sac & that move to Az was just a complete disaster, horrible planning etc especially for that many ppl. Its one thing to rent somewhere for 2 adults & maybe 2 or 3 kids but for that many wives (who dont want to live with other ones) & all the kids of various ages no smh just terribly "planned"
It's hilarious seeing Sam so riled up! Yeah, Kody has that effect on people. It's maddening to watch him. Like Gwendlyn said in her patreons, they really set him up to the be the villain in this season. I can only hope it's half the way it was edited and that he's not actually THAT awful in real life.
35:01 I keep saying- they are adult children with minds of their own- it’s up to Kody to establish the relationships with his adult children
Im not a .long time SW fan ( only watched S 18 ) but my understanding was that Kody was a gun and accessories dealer at gun shows ( during covid)
Sam u n ur wife r great love ur humor to cute just love it thanks for sharing ur life with us many. Blessings from North Texas ❤
Thank you! 😊
Am I correct that when Robin came into the family she didn’t own a house and had debt? If that is true then she certainly scored. The others had to contribute to her financial health.
Kody and Robyn can’t be happy without the income from the other wives.
I would love to see you react to Kodys interview with Bill Reel that happened after season 18 aired. He goes into his current faith more. It's cringy but informative.
Both Cody and Robin are drama queens. This show is their main money maker with the other wives gone. They have to do something to keep the show going. Cody is the center of his universe and the show is his financial foundation. He will do whatever it takes to keep the show going and keep the money flowing.
Robyn believes in poligamy when it benefits her. The other wives can have him when he's in bad mood or she isn't in the mood.
Kody didn’t love or respect 3 of the 4 wives, I think he wanted to hurt them because they wouldn’t shut up and obey him yet he wouldn’t end things himself because if they end it he can play the victim.
Aww Sam! You seem like a very compassionate good person so in light of that we have seen Kody for years say and do manipulative things. He has been negligent to his family the moment he started those mysterious long car rides to Robyn’s costing a lot of $$ when they were struggling. He hasn’t given 2 sheets about the feelings of anyone since his “ goddess’s “ arrival. He doesn’t deserve praise nor attention imho. He has a huge ego which rules over him. And Robyn is way too comfortable knowing and letting herself be Queen Bee without any care for others. They are an opportunistic couple who threw everyone away and that seems to be the real damage of polygamy. I really appreciate you and your beautiful wife’s take on the folks so thank you!!
Patriarchal structure based upon biblical interpretation requires that the second half of the verse are also followed... paraphrased due to laziness "Wives, submit to your husband. Husbands love your wife in the same way Christ loves his bride, the church (the believing people, not the buildings)". This means that men are called to put the needs of their family above themselves in every way, so that any decision that he is making his wife will trust that he has truly considered the wellbeing of her family while following his faith conviction. This only works for a truly selfless couple and is generally incompatible with most of our society and our me, me, me ways. Since most of us are incapable of being truly selfless, having a fair and balanced relationship where decisions are made jointly is typically the best way to go.
Tell us how you really feel Sam! 😂😂😂
RIGHT! And I am here for it!
Kody sells ghost gun parts at gun shows.
Kody actually sells guns or gun related paraphanalia at gun shows. It's wild. They NEVER talk about it on the show. He's a HARD libertarian.
Melissa and Sam, have you read their book? If so, have you gone over it on your channel?
We have not had a chance to read their book yet.
Kody's issue is that he fell out of love with Meri and he never really loved the other 2. So when he had wives that were jealous and such, instead of filling their individual love tanks, so that their jealously 'buckets' would seem so minor in comparison, he just got angry at them. He basically expected 'plural marriage' and the religious commitment to be enough for them to fill their own love tank. He seems to be naturally doing that with Robyn but was not working to do that with those he didn't really love but was just 'committed to'. It worked better when it was just the 3 bc the love he did have for them was all similar. But when Robyn came in, it seems the difference in how he felt was so drastic that he allowed himself to completely fail as a husband to them.
The things that Sam doesn't understand about Kody are things that are said in the manosphere. (e.g., his attitude about "respect" vs. love.)
Great video!
Are you guys going to watch Christine’s wedding and react?
Man it's sad you guys won't be doing anymore sister wives stuff.
Janelle specifically said before robyn the decision was to not have a patriarchal marriage. Does anyone remember her saying this? Because then when he was not getting his own way he was screaming about his lack of control and being the patriarch of the family. But at that point robyn was the only one who would even consider bowing to this *insert rude word* man because she is not mentally stable and will kiss the feet of this dirty man.
In an illegal lifestyle that is all about breaking boundaries there should be boundaries. And bedding the man on another woman’s night depriving your bonus kids of dad being in the house on that night is bad. They should go to prison again for this. There is a reason it is illegal. The Brown’s really showed us you can’t out it in the suburbs and it be okay. And the boys are deprived wives for this. Deprived of participating in the religion or having a family during fertile years cause some men gluttonous. And the financial. I wish they would go into how much Kody stole from the rest.
Once the women could no longer produce children he was done with them. He NEVER treated them with respect. Nor does he ever accept responsibility for his actions. I’m sorry that the family broke down but I’m happy for the women and children to have found their happiness.
You should review Christine's wedding episodes.
The beginning of the end was when they moved out of the cul-de-sac to Arizona. The kids had a good thing when the wives all lived in close proximity; they truly loved each other.
What kills me is when he would say that Robyn's house is "his". Or not calling like Janelle or the other wives his kids. Only the wife's kids
I believe it was Meri that said in some interview or somewhere I watched but Kody was telling Meri the total opposite behind closed doors and was shocked and actually decided to leave when she saw what he said in all the interviews that he doesn't consider himself married to her. He was stringing her along for financial help he said he hoped she'd provide on Coyote Pass as she was the highest earner at the time, and she would try to talk to Robyn about leaving and Robyn would beg her to stay and hold on with her.
Also I don't believe at all that Robyn wanted to break up the family, because she benefited from the family completely. When they were bringing Robyn in Christine had ten year old Aspyn tucking in her kids, because not only was she doing all the childcare during the day, but she had to work at nights, and then they were bringing in four new mouths to feed, and Robyn never worked since she came into the family, and still got a nanny. She didn't want to lose the people funding her lavish lifestyle but I do believe she wanted to be head wife, or maybe she was afraid if she didn't stay the favorite she'd have to find a job to keep up the new favorite.
Imo Meri stayed with Kody so long was in part because of her mom's love for Kody too.
Here’s the thing if you rewatch season 18 now (especially the bonus episodes ) now that you all are all caught up you learn so much more like Robyn having a small hand with the catfish 👀
Sam: Go! Bow!
😂😂😂
Robyn never told Kody get out and spend time with another wife. When he did she’d call him FaceTime him, need him. All she wanted was the bank account not the relationships. The girls all say Robyn is worse off camera as well as Kody.
The “husband” pretending even if he did have a favorite is one of the factors the sociologist said made a successful relationship. So you are correct.
Unfortunately season 19 is going to be about Garrisons death and it makes me sick! Garrison wouldn’t want it that way.
I tried watching when it first came out but Kody grossed me out. I started watching at 17 because of the talk of divorce.
I know I'm five months late to the party - but hey better late than never, right?
Over the last couple of weeks I've been watching all of your "fresh eyes on SW" from season 1-17, and it's been really interesting and informative. I've been wanting to leave comments along the way, but decided not to, since it's been so long. But now that I'm caught up, I really wanted to share some thoughts.
I started watching SW back when it first premiered in 2010, and I was so intrigued and impressed by them, and I really bought into the idea of polygami. Not as in I wanted to live it, but I think the show broadended my horizon or humanity, in the sense of, who am I to decide what others do or where they find happiness? If everyone is consenting adults, why should my religious belief take president over theirs?
But as the seasons progressed, and the cracks started to show it became more and more apperent, that things where not as rose colored as they initially proclaimed. I know many feels almost deceived by them because of that, because either they were lying then or they are lying now - and I get that, but for me I just think it's heart breaking to watch a family decline like this. It's just all very sad to be honest.
I was initially drawn to the show beacause of the religious aspect of it all (born and raised baptist, pastor's daughter, studied comparative religion in collage so I have an interest in others religious belief systems than my own), however as we see through your recaps, their religious belief becomes progressively more and more absent - to the point where you can't even find even one talking point of the matter. Which is probably why I stopped watching the show for a couple of seasons, because it became a little to "reality-tv" for me, more than a chronical of the life of a religious devout family.
But that's why it's been really amazing watching your recaps, because you've been looking at it though they scope of religoius practices. So I really learned a lot. And now I'm excited to go to your reactions to season 18 and 19 - there are definitly a couple of interesting religious discussions to be had there.
I got a vaccinee as soon as possible. CVS came to my building for my first and second one. I got mine early, we were in a program. When did I end up getting Cov-**?? It was exactly 2 weeks before Christmas. And I got over it really quickly. But I never thought I would end up getting it.
To understand Cody, you mainly have to follow the money.
I was so attracted to Kody in the first season. But now, that attraction is completely gone.
There is nothing wrong with discerning what kind of a person Kody is. He chose to be on TV so in doing so, he opened himself up for criticism and opinions.
Robyn Brown absolutely does not bow before Kody. She’s the boss and if he doesn’t like it, she says she’s going to leave. She wanted Easter, he said no, she said she’s going to her parents’ house then, Kody freaks out, and bam, the Browns all got Easter. Because Kody Brown is controlled by Robyn. Yeah he made the choice, but only because Robyn threatened to leave. Hahahahaa Kody Brown is such a sucker and bows to her.
Kody thought the wives were suppose to have and raise the kids. He thought that they wanted this and kept saying it’s about the family not the man. So if he was done with them making babies, he should be able to go on to the next without problems. He just collected mommies to care of everything. Including him. They aren’t people, just property.
Sam, thank you for pointing out it's easy to fall into slander when you're critically reviewing SW.
Kody and Robyn not vaccinated as of getting COVID in Oct 2021 according to their kids.
Sam and Melissa, have you ever thought that Cody had to pretend because of the show and he wanted the money because you can see his affection for Robin was greater than any of his other wives
It sure seemed that way at times.
Clearly Kody made his choices to abandon children! Robyn guilted/shamed him to stay at her house, she monopolized his time.. Robyn talked to him and told him he never loved his wives, the book says different.
Kody sells gun accessories at Gun & Knife shows ... They are not actual guns but accessories to turn your gun into an AK47
