  • Leather Roll-top Backpack Pattern. Pattern includes holes marked and video instructions.
    Finally! The long-awaited product appears - a cruise backpack, for travelers and not only!
    Announced for a long time, today it has premiere - it is really carefully and thoughtfully made - you will find a place for everything, its pockets are very handy and well-placed. From the very beginning, the first, front pocket, closed with a belt and a buckle, is noticeable. Here you can fit for example a smartphone, compass and other larger items. Next to it, there are two more, smaller pockets. They are small, but very functional, after all - everyone has their own little things that they never part with - here they will definitely find their place! On the right side of the backpack, you will see another pocket - finally, a good backpack should fit everything you need!
    On the opposite side, there is a water holder - a very functional advantage of this product, it's good to have something to drink always at hand, admit it yourself. After opening this backpack, you will see a huge, spacious and huge pocket - here you can find items such as a blanket, provisions or clothes. The whole thing looks great, and most importantly is very durable and functional. Well-made, it will cope with some challenges! See for yourself and check out another outstanding pattern! Have fun!
    Dimensions: 35 main piece (57 unrolled) x 30 x 12 cm | 13.8 main piece (22.4 unrolled) x 11.8 x 4.8"

    I was a beginner when I started this bag and whooooo boy did I make a lot of costly mistakes. Cutting too deeply into the seam allowance; punching the stitching holes at odd angles; problems with the consistency of dyeing: I messed up so many times. I ended up remaking every single piece aside from the panels, many of them more than once. I did it until I was satisfied and, by the end, I had chewed through $200 of already-cheap leather. Must have used like 40 sqft in total.
    There were many many days of nothing but failure and a desire to give up but I did it. I got through it and I have made something very nice. All I had made prior to this was a few medieval coin purses for my siblings to put their DND dice into.
    I listened to audiobooks while I worked, and I chewed through all of LoTR, ASoIAF, Anathem, Intuition Pumps twice, and most of Harry Potter. ASoIAF is like 100 hours long all on its own. God only know how many hours I poured into this bag.
    I kept it all a secret from my family/friends while I worked on the bag. None of them knew I was even still doing leather stuff. I don't know how long it took me to finish it, but it was at least 4 months.
    By the time I finished, I thought the bag still sucked. All I could see were the errors and ugly bits. I was missing the forest for the trees, I suppose, because as soon as I posted it on FB, and on a few leathercraft forums/groups/subs, I received so very much praise! It was insane. My mistake-riddled bag has the most likes and comments of anything in the main FB leathercraft page over the last 7 months. So many people asked how I did this or that, and though I still feel that I am a novice, it was very nice to be treated like somebody with real skill.
    When wearing it at work after clocking out for the day, guests at my hotel sometimes ogle it and ask if I would make them one. I am far too inefficient to sell a new bag for a reasonable amount of money, and I say so when asked. One man offered me $800 for it as it is, mistakes and all. I didn't sell it. It means so much to me.

    Looks like a dyed vegtan? Love the caramel color. I bought the pattern, wondering if you do have a SVG/lasercut option, my hands aren't as great as they used to be and the laser helps cut clean lines

    At five minutes and 45 seconds into the video, what part of the bag are you making? I’m trying to follow along but yours has curved edges on the bottom and mine has straight. It just doesn’t look like anything I have in my pattern. What number on the pattern does that correspond to?

    Wondering what the distance is between the lower shoulder strap attachment points is. I’m a big guy and typically need at least 14” open space so the leather does not rub on my sides. That’s about 35.5 cm.

    • @CreativeAwl
      @CreativeAwl  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, thanks! its oil tanned leather. Why i dont use a glue? Becouse its not needed. It wasnt in use until machine stiching discovery. Then all leather would be need placed together and flat so there was needing to use the glue to stitch it properly. With pattern, visaulisation - all holes have their places and all will fit together correctly.
