I think your gunnera would appreciate being at the bottom of the mound next to the tree and water, they are a big plant and like damp situations

Thanks for this. I don't know if you are aware but these gunnera are in tubs which are submerged into the soil. It gives the effect of them being planted. But they aren't. I agree with you entirely though. Thanks. Mark

If I was doing this job I'd probably accidentally drop the fern in the hole and follow it in. That is a difficult job. Well done.

I think the boulders sound like a really good idea, and maybe even a stout stake back near the gunnera and rope to the top of the tree fern ?
