This was is one of the few moments where Burgess proves herself as a badass. Sometimes I forget what a doe eyed naïve rookie she used to be.

Honestly, I like the naive rookie Kim more.
They're all too much the same, it gets dull.
They should all have different personality.
It would add more layers, more dynamics.

@@virz4432 Actually, I think thats what makes the "badass" version of Kim so much better. Her being outwardly appearing so innocent means the few times she does go all out have a lot more impact to them.

My brother was injured by a classmate once, not raped. But the anger you feel when your sibling has been injured and someone did that on purpose. That is like a wracking ball.
That boy was lucky that I controlled myself that day otherwise he would possibly be dead!
I understand Burgess in the anger she has there!

To think Marina was heavily pregnant here and the girl we see punching the guy is her body double. The only parts she did was for the scenes where we see here from the POV of the guy on the floor. After this, she asks Voight for some time off to take care of her sister, but in real life Marina was on maternity leave and doesn’t come back until season 5.

      Either:
      a) they thought she was sleeping
      Or
      b) the 'Bystander Effect', where people just don't want to get involved ..
I experienced that myself, trying to help an unconscious, possibly drunk, middle age man, practically in the middle of one road lane, having been run over by a hit and run driver. I may have been amongst the few whom saw him alive ...
It's a long story, if you're interested, but, bottom line, kneeling beside his right ear, talking to him, hoping he'd respond, until the ambulance arrived, with no-one else helping, was the loneliest feeling in the world. As yes, I know ... did I put him into the recovery position ...? Well, a) my fault, because I got tunnel vision on trying to get some kind of response from him; and b) with unknown spinal injuries, without the correct procedure (and people willing to help ...), you can make things worse.
Like with motorcycle crashes, it's tempting to remove the helmet, especially the type with full face visors, but as long as they're breathing ... don't. It may be the only thing keeping their head and neck stable. Only if they aren't breathing, then use techniques taught in extended First Aid training, especially 4-5 days. One day covers the very bare minimum; having done both, the longer one means whilst you're not now an EMT, you're better equipped.
Which reminds me; I need to go through the recertification process, as it only lasts three years, with annual retesting, but, once the certificate elapses, you have to go through the process all over again ...

Reminds me of an episode of Chicago MED where a man wanted to check himself into the hospital because he was having thoughts about molesting children. He never acted on his impulses but was afraid he eventually would.
The older psychiatric doctor deduced that it was all caused by a brain defect that could've been fixed or at least managed. But before they could do whatever they could to help him, the poor guy decided to "fall on his own sword" by jumping into an oncoming bus.

I was bullied as a child, severe mental abuse and ridicule. I usually would lose my temper and yell at the bullies but I occasionally resorted to violence. I once kicked a bully on the shin, leaving him with a big bruise for days. That same bully had also one time been bullying me as we stood outside the classroom, waiting for the teacher. I had had enough and turned to confront him, when I elbowed him in the stomach. When we got into the classroom, he went up to me and hit me in the stomach as payback for hitting him. I lost my temper and as he was sitting behind me, I shoved his chair at him. It was on top of his desk and he was hit in the mouth. As he had braces, he got some minor bleeding where he was hit. But I did not even get in trouble. Was told that it is not nice to do that, and the class continued. I never got in real trouble for taking revenge on my bullies.
Another bully, a girl the same age, once tried holding on to me to get me to say something about why I had made another girl cry. (The girl in question had been calling me mean names, so I yelled back and called her a name). But I exploded as she held onto me, so I managed to break free and wrench her arm behind her so she would let go. She did and of course made loads of drama, way more than was necessary. She wasn't ever badly hurt, she just milked it a lot. But at that one moment, it felt good hurting her physically. She was one of the most severe bullies, constantly ridiculing me, caling me weird and making sure the others excluded me. So wrenching her arm behind her back felt so good in that moment. She was the number one reason I was borderline suicidal.

Even though it's satisfying the way she beat him up, can they get a conviction afterwards. Lawyer Ugo can get him off easily!
