    It's TIIIME!
    Here's what I'm doing: radicalyt.com/
    1. Free email group for updates and news from me (with big plans in future)
    2. Consulting and Channel Audit options
    For option 2 it's going to be a limited run, based on the countless requests for audits and consults I've gotten since starting this channel.
    Since it's my first independent test run, I've reduced prices to make it more accessible and provide me valuable feedback. If you were wanting personalized help from me, NOW is a great time to get it!

    I posted hundreds of shorts, few of them recently blew out and hit 2.4M in total views (last 28 days)
    Subscribers rosed from 2,000 to 1-17,000.
    The crazy thing is one of my worst performing shorts that I posted 8 months ago suddenly went viral and hit 1,2M

    Shorts still work really great for me on my second channel. I mean, I am just small content creator and I work really hard (I also use a little bit of fame ster, but that's a necessity nowadays). I just give all my videos small initial boost, and that caused them to spread literally everywhere, bringing more and more organic views day after day.

      @@MrThinkImPossiblemake sure your shorts and your long form content are made in similar styles. What I do is I find the most interesting sections of my long-form videos and I remix them for shorts, then I direct people to the long-form video. Do you think that it’s possible the 60 second views are so high is because there are many more shorts of that length and not that it’s a sweet spot?
    Repurposing long form content will mean a lot of creators pulling in the full 60 seconds of allowable video for an easily made short. Same goes for the high 59 second number, as they are just trimming a bit off for a smooth short.

    My craziest experience with shorts was, that I uploaded it when shorts beta got introduced and it didnt do any numbers at all. Over 1 1/2 years later it suddenly exploded.
    One thing I personally dislike about shorts it what they do with my video suggestions afterwards. While as a creator its awesome to see your longform content be suggested afterwards, the shorts algo isnt as good as tiktok and I see a lot of hateful and discriminating content and even when scolling past it quickly, my longform suggestions then have this hateful content everywhere and I have to clean up my suggestions regularly.

      I train Shorts continuously. If it shows stuff I don't want to see I immediately hit pause. Then I go to the dot menu and tell it to stop showing me that channel. I never thumbs-down or open the comments. It took a lot of training but now it's pretty reliably showing me what I want to see with just the occasional reject. It's kept US politics and conspiracists out of my long-form too. It's only the adverts that are a problem there - if I see Elon Musk's face on an ad I flag it as Repetitive and those ads seem to have reduced (even if I was a fan I know Elon has nothing whatsoever to do with that ad).

    Leaving this nit-pick "below the fold." Consider ditching the auto-ISO , or at least lock it to just your face - when your hands move toward the screen it is changing the average brightness and the camera thinks it's overexposed and bumps your ISO. Look in the upper right shadow, easiest to see the pulsing and graininess.

    From my short experience with shorts, I conclude that showing an impending catastrophe (like me drowning under a waterfall) results in more views, while showing something incredibly interesting (like a beach cave in Spain) results in more subs per 1000 views.
    Also, "short" is for short attention span.

    So my question is why is it that when I schedule a short, it takes EXACTLY 6 hours for it to be seen after it goes live, gets about 3k views for exactly an hour, and then stops? This seems to happen to TONS of folks as well, but I could basically set a clock to it and I have no idea the rhyme or reason behind it.

    Your video has perfect timing, Nate! I finally decided to give shorts a try, and I'm impressed with the response my tiny channel is getting from them - so it's safe to say I'm all in on getting better at creating them! Your information is solid!

    Love this content. However.... there is a huuuge difference between big channels and small channels in how the algorithm treats content. So you using data only (mainly) of big, successful channels is colouring the data... for me shorts are a constant battle, mainly because they will only get one push from the algorithm (if they're good) and that usually happens just over 6 hours after posting... which is, truly, a nightmare as my target audience is mainly online for just 3-5 hours each day! So if I post before they're online the short won't be clicked and won't be pushed at all. If I post when my target audience is online it will get pushed: 1-3 hours after most of my target audience left... 🙃

      Not with shorts, 100 total shorts seems to be a pop off mark and I guess 200+ according to Nate. But if you have 100+ shorts with 80+% total retention average/watch time and good engaement you will get shorts thrown into the main feed and tested beyond the 1-10k view range

    • @bbreak
      @bbreak 10 місяців тому +1

      @RealCRUSHEQUITY Well, I have over 150 shorts now with an average retention between 68 and 98.5% .... ( I'm not sure if there's a way to find out how many of these shorts indeed have 80% or higher... i do usually see that when the number of views increases rapidly bc of the algorithm suddenly pushing it, clickrate and retention drop). Either way, it's still the same pattern as I saw on day one: 1 push only... in very rare occasions, a second push on day 2. If it does well, it may surpass 1K views, but never much more than that. I btw also have quite a lot of shorts with 100+% retention and 80-90% clickrate (viewed-swiped-ratio) that got stuck at just a dozen views or so...
      So, based on the numbers I see on my channel, it seems your statement isn't actually true? I guess? Or at least for me, it doesn't seem to be...

    • @bbreak
      @bbreak 10 місяців тому +1

      @RealCRUSHEQUITY just posted a new short three hours ago, same thing as pretty much always: 100% clickrate, over 100% retention (in fact nearly 200%!), many likes. But only 12 views. I don't expect it to get more than 5-10 extra views in the upcoming three hours. After that, it will hopefully get a boost and get 1k views, and that will be it. (Nb. also know that if I would now post it on Tiktok it will probably have 1k views within fifteen minutes or so... but I want to grow on youtube, not Tiktok! )
