Lucca is a real gem, and Rick is right to highlight it. Slightly off the main tourist track, and all the better for it. I visited around 15 years ago, and was impressed by the relaxed ambiance and the beauty of the city and surrounding countryside. At that time it was notable for high end (but not flashy) pen, stationery and watch shops.
Lucca, a great town to visit. My favorite town in Italy. Visited for 5 times, rode a bike for 3 hours, went to the top of the tower whenever I had visited. Thanks all friends in Pescia for helping me to visit. I felt that I am at home in Italy.
Rick Steves, I like how you have gone beyond the tourist trail and shown a place that is unique, that is different that what many people are used to. When many people go to Italy, many go to places such as Roma, Milano, and Naples. This clip shows a side of Italy far from the tourist trail, getting to the places often forgotten by many people.
I visited Lucca because of finals to accede to the Second Level College of Science third year in a private school. Wow, I yet cherish the memory about that stay, in particular the walks around the ancient walls. Such beautiful!
Lucca is really a fascinating and dreamlike city. Last year we had to end our pilgrimage on the Via Francigena. But this year we will continue there and I am looking forward to seeing Lucca again. Just like the pilgrimage, I am looking forward to see the city again.
My grandfather was born in Lucca. At the age of 19 he went to war (WWII), he was kept as a prisoner for more than two years. After that he emigrates to Argentina. In a few months we are going to travel thru Europe, and we will visit the home of my grandpa L. Guidotti.
I was born in Lucca now i live in WA State I wanna go back in few years I really .miss Tuscany i can't wait i wanna go now....Ciao Lucchesi arrive da Madre Terra soon.
Also try Montecatini Terme, Siena, and Vinci while you're in the area, all are worth a day trip - Pisa has the tower and basilica, and not much else - worth a couple of hours only, even with the lean
Loved the tour! :) Thanks for sharing! :) Greetings and Slan from Ireland! :) Well done on your video and Thumbs up from me! :) I love flying my Q500 drone for some aerial footage! :)
Does anybody know the name of the song playing in the background from about minutes 1:29 to 2:30? If so, please tell me.; it struck a chord and I must have it.
A famous composer who was from Lucca but who spent most of his life in Germany and Spain, writing music for royalty, was Luigi Boccherini-he wrote a lot of guitar music with a Spanish flavour while living in Spain.
Lucca Italy my see very much home's..them every thing wear with a nice. this is experience enuog. to visit of couse expensive. Italy coutru excellent humon earth wonld
You should have tried to understand all the history that hides behind every inch of that city. Nothing there is less than 100 years old! Maybe you should focus more on enhancing your point of view and trying to see beyond the first impact (that, of course, should play an important role on this too). And remember: try to respect every city you’ll visit; trust me, you’ll want people to do the same in your house! I hope this comment can actually help you to enjoy more your next trip, even somewhere else. Bye

Don't miss the monument of Ilaria del Carretto in the chatedral. By Jacopo della Quercia.
We stayed in Montecatini earlier this month, so Lucca was only about 28 minutes by train...yet we never got around to visiting :(

I think it is ' O Mio Banbbino Caro' Puccini
Beautiful town, but the people aren't called Luccasi, but Lucchesi, please.
When your parents name you after a tiny Italian city that went emo and built a wall around itself

+Giancarlo del vita sei pisano per caso? :)
no di certo! era un commento ironico per non far attirare troppi turisti (come a Pisa) e rovinare il carattere della nostra bella citta`....
I’m in Lucca now, and it’s very boring…
