Don't you think you should have post a warning at some point of the video saying something like : "remember dogs aren't just to take you company for a short period of time. A dog is a living being and you need to take care of it, it will require time and energy. A dog will make you happy but think of what you can offer to this dog before taking one. Be responsible and take a dog only if you're capable of taking care of him, if you aren't, please don't. " ?
Its not just a pet, it is a family member. I still cry over the loss of Bella a britanny and labrador mix who meant the world to me. Even as I moved out she was still my dog.

I've had my dog doodle for a year and a half and he's my best buddy and I constantly worry about how I'll handle his death when it comes. I should enjoy our time together and I do but I know I'll be crushed if something happens to him. I have family members I love less than my dog.
It was the same for me. I had my dog when I was 4 and he was 6 months, I was a afraid to lose him before I graduated from high school because he had a lot of health problems but he was still here, he died at 15 when I was at university and I'm still depressed to think I wasn't with him for his last moments...
My father knows a man who grieved himself to death over his dog. Dog died and so did he 2 weeks later. Some people don't understand that kind of love which is sad for them.

I have autism, and I think getting at least two normal pet dogs would be amazing for me. It’ll help with my anxiety when I rub their fur, and I’ll be distracted from bad thoughts when I’m taking care of them, and I’ll always be there to protect them.

Kokkheang Seak TBH I'd hate to have a small dog, anything smaller that's a cocker seems like a waste of a dog, you can barely train it to do awesome things and also it can't do as much as a big dog! The types of dog I'd go for are: German Shorthaired Pointer, English Pointer, Hungarian Vizsla, Labrador, Golden Retriever, Flat Coated Retriever, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, etc

Crystal the pomeranian yeah that's just a German Shepherd though, there are plenty of other big dogs that will never do that, such as Labradors, there's no way a lab can go wrong unless you are a seriously bad owner! That gsp was probably not very well trained, or she provoked it, never the dogs fault, it's ours! Maybe instead of a big dog being the problem it's your mum! You can't just say that because one big dog bit her all big dogs are bad that's just stupid! Anyway small dogs are much more snappy anyway!

Im in a similar situation. I wrote three pages explaining why we need a dog and Im going to be be showing it to my parents after we move in the end if May. You could do the same? Anyway, NEVER, EVER, EVER give up!! You WILL get a dog! Whether it takes you 7 years (like me oof) or just a couple of months, you will get a dog!

I would LOVE to have a dog but I can't. I'm a college student that doesn't have his own place and is with his parents on the weekends. I would love a dog because he/she would be able to help with my depression. I'll just have to wait a few years. When that time comes I'll try getting a puppy and NOT for the reason you think I am. It's not because they're cuter because dogs are ALWAYS adorable, no matter how old they get. It's because that way the dog will be in my life longer the younger it is. They don't live as long as people and losing someone I love would really hurt and I want them around as long as I can.

My uncle was a k9 sheriff deputy he couldn't afford his dog for his retirement iv bought his 4 legged friend for him my uncle is 55 now and still living with his German shepherd k9 buddy!

I just hope I can properly care for one, I want a dog really badly but I don’t ever try to get one because I don’t want to forget about it and forget to feed it or give it water or attention. Can't have a dog, but been dying to get one for years. Lost my last dog to a tumor in 2010, so that's almost eight years of doglessness. Been talking about it a lot, like, the last five years or so. However, our house has no back fence and we're in the middle of additions/construction on a basement apartment and have been for 10 long years!! (Long story.) Hence my impatience. ;_;

I haven't moved out yet but I don't think I could practically have a dog as I will probably live in an apartment and I like big dogs that require a bunch of exercise and it would just end up sitting around all day until I could get home.
It depends much if one can have a dog where one live, and when living in an apartment its not ideal and restriction. I like to one day have both have a dog and a cat (or more) just the living conditions have to be considered. I am a big dog person, not fan of the small football sized ones that can't stop yapping.
Small dogs often lack training, that is usually the reason they are so obnoxious. People with small dogs seem to think that they don't need training since they are so small the owner don't need to worry. They also usually fail to establish that they are the dominant one in the dogs pack.
Once when I visited a friend their Jack Russel started growling at me, now I was used to much bigger dogs and had learnt that dogs shouldn't growl at humans. So I took hold of his nose, looked into his eyes and said "No!" after which I let go. At first the dog looked at me like I was a monster, then it would simper around me like crazy. Every time I visited afterwards that dog would greet me and wanted to be petted by me. All while ignoring my friend. Yeah, congrats. Your dog thinks you are lower than them and I managed to put myself above by not allowing dominant behaviour toward me.
Any dog owners out there who could give me some advice? I would love to get a dog, but I live alone in the city and I wouldn't be able to take him with me to my work place, so I think my situation right now doesn't offer a good environment for a dog. Do you have any recommendations how I could adjust my lifestyle so it would be more suitable for keeping a dog? I can't change the fact that I need to go to work everyday tough...
You be better off with a cat tbh. Dogs takes a lot of work and training everyday, you also need to know what kind of breed you are getting. Don't rely on looks alone, and get a shelter dog and ask the people there who might pair you up with a dog.

Umm... Hey if u are confused if u should get a dog or not Pls. note the following points -
1. A dog is not easy, with a dog comes a lot of work, u need to make sure u are ready to take care of him clean his pee without being embarrassed and clipping his toes, brushing his teeth for example
2. The most important thing is to be able to afford it, u might want to get a dog to cheer u up but the dog needs a proper bed, a microchip, tag and leash, new toys and food bowls u can't be afraid to spend a few bucks on a new family member, while u buy fancy stuff for ur self
3. Wait...... There's a lot of waiting when you get a dog, u need to wait for him to adjust, get used to u his world must have changed in a day all his brothers and sisters gone in a day after all he is a innocent creature
4. A dog is not a toy, u can't throw him when u get a new one, he is a real live thing, he has moods he can be sad and angry, u can't expect him to have no opinion even tho they don't most times, a dog cannot be thrown out when he is old, u have to afford his vet bills and get toys regularly for him
5. Wait Pls. Pls. If u are not in the correct financial situation, a dog might look perfect to cheer u up but u will actually cause it depression and sadness bcs of no proper toys or pillows, wait if u don't have time for giving the attention a dog needs or not a place with yards and a place to walk and play in

Owning a dog can be very stressful. In a household It seems the gal (not the guy) is usually stuck to deal with the dog. So I strongly suggest you ask strangers (more accurate info ask the gal, when kids are not around) if they regret getting a dog.. Friends and acquaintances fear being judged and won't tell you their true opinion. Also, read dog product reviews = real eye opener. Not just to see what they are buying but WHY they are buying it!
Make sure you are not getting a dog just to prove that you can do it. Dogs live 10 to 18 years! A dog may fit now but not 5-8 years down the road. After 4 years of being chained to ANY routine it can become, well, enslavement. Most people hope to grow and change over the years and their life with it. To put it another way; You can resell a house, boat, move, get divorced, give up a baby for adoption, but society will throw a lot of hate your way if you decide to give up your dog. Think about it.

I had some cats for a little bit, Worst experience ever!!! I had to clean up after them every day, it shed to much, they hissed and were very aggressive and Was just over all horrible pets , Then I got a dog and I have to say they are WAY better than cats, They are cuter (of course) way more fun to have around and are a free way to get more excersize, they do shed but not as excessive as the cats I had, Dogs are no doubt the best pets to have...

I've tried being nice to Them, I've only succeeded to pet them at least 3 times and I had them for a whole year! I guess every cat is different even though I had 3 cats with the same traits.
