Even though the Intro changed extremely.. Linus didn't change at all (It the good way)
2019 anyone?
No, 2021

I have the Asus Vivobook 14.1", best choice I ever made. For anytime I ever needed a CD, such as burning disks, installing some software that only comes in CDs, or some of my old DVDs, I just bought an external optical drive for 40 bucks, does the job wonderfully and it takes off the extra weight from my computer! Touch screen is awesome, material and casing is galore
Just bought the 11.6", i3 version of this and I love it. Build quality is amazing for the money. Not sure if Linus mentioned it but I found that the track pad is also outstanding.
VGA is yesterday however, that being said most business users appreciate the addition of VGA for connections for devices such as a projector in a meeting, it adds flexibility and is nice to see! :)
Hey Linus, coming to Canada in August 2014. Need to buy an ULTRABOOK, could you please suggest me a good one. within CAD $1000 - $1200. Please suggest.
Linus said that many offices and boardrooms are still using old VGA monitors/projectors and since ultrabooks are for business people primarily it is quite helpful

2:05 Slick working in the reflection LOL
The ASUS SonicMaster audio is AMAZING! Hands down, I've never heard computer audio sound so good right out of the box, without having to use separate external audio components. I normally use high-end audiophile gear to play music from a pc, like USB to SPDIF convertors or USB DAC's with a tube headphone amp for listening to music with headphones .....so I'm very picky when it comes to the sound quality. I just got the this laptop a couple days ago and the first time I plugged in my Grado headphones directly into the stereo jack I was blown away at how good it sounded.
this is my laptop! I bought it at RM1990. I LIKE IT! but theres some issue in this laptop I faced.
1. the battery can stand in a short time around 2 hours and could be less if open many software. (I already knew it)
2. Sometimes the shutdown process take very long time until the light of the icon at the laptop turn off.
3. The start up and shutdown can sometimes very fast and sometimes quite slow and sometimes not responding! (but mostly fast)
the touchscreen works good on metro windows 8.1 (no lag at all) (make sure u put a screen protector on the screen, u may scratch it)
it run good at my windows 8.1. overall I give 8/10.
considering u are from malaysia... may i ask where did u buy it?
authorised computer shop near my house.
Lol i thought its the new Vivobook Pro with gtx1050
if i recall correctly, he said he has them sold as "open box" items at NCIX, where he works.
I don't know what r u talking about...I just pointed out That Slick was reflected on screen and a second later Diesel waived his hand to point it out.
VGA is almost everywhere and not everything has HDMI. That's a selling point for me. Not all my friends have High Definition devices and it does come in handy.
Back when Asus Vivobooks were only $600... In 2021, we have $1300 Chromebooks.
asus vivobook 14 n4020
look it up
Linus, please include the part number fx "S400CA-RH51T" in either title or description. It would help out alot :)
BTW, really enjoy your videos, and the live steam is very entertaining.
Hey!! On the i7 variant which is the v500ca is there a graphic card spot an connector to put one?? Please answer
I think Linus means from an advertising standpoint. A lot of people see oh cool a touch screen, so its a must from a corporate side if you want to give it an edge especially in the mid range market
that notebook is very sleek looking. If I was ever looking for a notebook just to do work and whatever else on, but no gaming, that notebook is definitely one I'd consider
The internals probably costed asus barely anything. The thing they probably spent the most on in this notebook is the shell which is VERY well made.
Also, do you know when the 900d is coming out, Linus? Or is that under NDA?
You should carry your old iPhone during videos so you can still do the size comparison, it was sort of a trademark for you.
it does have one. small but you can see little slits at the back of it.
Slick!!!! 2:01 Diesel's Hand 2:07
Last livestream: "After using HTC 8X iPhone 4S feels like a brick"
Yeah, it's a damn sizecomparison brick. Slick knew it.
This still looks better than my 300$ laptop from like 2020
Linus, Does the notebook have a removable battery? I didn't see any kind of battery compartment in the video so I'm guessing its inbuilt.
Good video but find out if its precharged first next time so we can see the screen quality. :)
I just got this last week. Not a huge fan of the track pad but it does its job.
do you know if this notebook has a no touch screen option?
Yes it does. Go on the Asus website and look for Asus vivobook
Maybe this is a dumb question, but what do you do with all the stuff you review and do "unboxing" for? Or do they only send you it to test out, and send back?
my dad got it and its really good for the price. the touchscreen is a huge plus
Btw, I meant a decent mouse of course. Gestures can be handy too, but not all programs use it. For general work, I always have a mouse present with al least 6 buttons.
Depends on what size you're going for the zenbook prime ux21a . Is a nice 11" ultrabook if i remember correctly.
Projectors, man... VGA out is a must if you're a businessman doing presentations.
Looks very nice. Like it a lot. screen-wise Is there a higher resolution option for this line? (w. the same design)
They do have a non ultrabrook version of this laptop. It's actually still quite good. I heartily enjoy mine.
Hey, I'm thinking about getting a laptop soon, looking for something powerful enough for almost every type of media-that include games and good to last me for about 4-5 years, touch screen preferred but not necessary. What do you recommend?
Does the fact that it's a touchscreen help offset the track pad? I've never had a touchscreen computer before.
Linus, could you do an unboxing on any of the Packard Bell notebooks? Its supposed to be a super-cheap laptop that is quite good (for the price).
seems like something to do with the front panel connectors, are they the right way into the connectors?
As much as I like my 11" Macbook Air, I've got to say it takes the fucking piss how Apple didn't think of adding in a little Kensington slot. It's not like it's a prime target for theft or anything. Well done, ASUS.
Linus, you said you still like to see the vga plug, why? there are so many more better options and now everything comes with more then a vga socket on the back. I think a laptop user is fine with any of the new technology instead of vga.
Linus please do a roundup of the best sub $600 notebooks/netbooks.
Does the screen fold all the way to the back to use like a tablet? The hinge looks like it does.
Run some benchmarking on it Linus! I'd like to see how that performs and would it be good for school!
Dude, you are reviewing very well, but what about the system performance?
I think the specs and quality are actually quite impressive for the price, value doesn't necessarily means cheap budget laptop.
4:17 HTC 8X size comparison is born.
Dude you have to fix the microphone gain.... the sound cracks when you speak too loud, it's been happening for a while now.... :/
how long do you think we have to wait for 27"-32" 4k oled to get down to $1500 range? really want to get one
are you sure the front panel connectors are in the right way?
I just find it ironic how I've been having the best experience with HP lately in contrast to my now 7 years experience with Asus. I mean, ironic in the sense that you wouldn't expect it... At least, I didn't.
We had a 2 year old laptop that got its ass handed to it by a BIOS update and they fixed it out of warranty, as well as repair damages. 2 way shipping and everything. I swear it's like I was dealing with a smaller manufacturer.
The thing at 4:21? That's the power brick
(2:09) Hi, right back to you! lol
Linus, can't you use an ordinary dice as size comparisment for tickness or smaller objects.
My First watched Video ON Linus Channel
ASUS actually will not cover two way shipping on any of their value oriented notebooks. They expect the customer to pay $100 for shipping both to and from the manufacturer. Just as a heads up to everyone who thinks this is such a great deal. It really isn't. Speaking as someone who sells these on a daily basis, my customers constantly come back and complain about the false advertising on the side of the box.
Witch one should I get if I were to get one?
It doesn't have a DVD drive? How will you be able to install programs that needs CD installation?
DID YOU PLUG THE POWER SWITCH IN WRONG?????? same thing happoned to me that was the problem.
After the Linus Arm Length measurement, there should be the Linus Finger Length measurement!
nice shirt but isn't it cold in canada at the moment?
I need and wanted help If you don't mine helping can you review and see which laptop is better?Asus - VivoBook Ultrabook 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Black/Silver Model: S500CA-SI30401U or the Toshiba - Satellite 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Satin Black Model: C55Dt-A5307
lol Linus' tshirt: marriage = game over XD
hey ..had a few doubts..
if i ever want to upgrade this laptop with an ssd ..can i only swap out the hdd for a new ssd and leave the 24gb ssd in the laptop itself ? laos.. is the OS (win8) installed on the 24gb ssd ?
It needs to have at least one "high-speed" interface, either usb 3.0 or thunderbolt.
Linus, where did you put all unboxed stuff??
I liked the green color of the room insomuch that I have left the goal of watching the video.
Why? Isn't it the same as a MacBooks? I have both and their pretty identical.
R.I.P iPhone compassion test 7:22
Would you recommend this laptop for college?
You should at least turn it on and test the touchscreen, great video tho
do you think this is good for light video editing?
do you have the polarity mixed up on the cables leading to the power switch?
Is the touch screen only one finger at a time , or can you use malty touch.
i find it kind of short but last long on battery saving
I have one has a backup machine, excellent build quality for the price
is this laptop good for video editing, graphic stuff ?
Got one of these a few weeks ago. Love it, it's brilliant for the price.
Sure, but I would still like to see some good value tips as well.
A laptop with 2 DVI-D outs would be nice
2:08 palm waving in te reflection of the display :P
I found one with a i5-4200 apu, Geforce GT 840m GPU (2GB DDR3), 8GB ram, 750gbHD+24gbSSD.
Just wondering what the cooling is like as i am looking for a laptop that can handle some modern gaming.
£700 is my MAX budget any recomendations, I'm not fussed about 1080p or a touch screen I just want one with some umph and decent ventilation
(although i will be buying a cooling stand anyway)
Juts build a good gaming Pc for the same price.
No room for a desktop, at all. thus the need for a laptop,
anyway it doesn't matter now i settled on getting a xbox one and a low end laptop
+Clara Pagett Ah okay, I hope that set up works well for you. I too am working towards getting a desktop :)
yup thanks,
laptop i got has an intel n2830, 750gb HD and 4gb ram. far from great but still an improvement over my gen 2 netbook I was using as my backup. as for the xb1 so far i love it.
Good luck with you desktop
Does anyone know where in Canada they have the zenbook touch in black? Is it a bestbuy USA only? Because I can only find it on there....
Why on Earth is a touch screen a must on a notebook these days? Exactly how many times do you find using a touchscreen more productive than a mouse/keyboard? How about the whole thing of having to clean your monitor much more frequently?
I understand you are trying to say things which sell a product you are showing, but please, a must?
Great shirt haha.
has Asus come out with the 2014 year edition of this or atleast announced it?
LInus you should soon do a 2013 best notebook, vs best prize for performance vs cheapest.!
I have this laptop somewhere in my room. It still works
Can you unbox the Taichi?
you can upgrade it i think???
...once you look at it from sort of a different angle it has like a very very dark wood finish... is that a TN panel? :D
2:07 cameraman waving in the screen :D
My laptop like this, wasn't working the screen. What should i do?
Where can I find the best prices for laptops?
how hard would it be for me to install ssd/ram to this one or is it not possible?
I have the s300ca. Is it safe to remove the keyboard yourself to clean for dust?
Its a pain to screw it all back . if you have ~3 hrs do it
Sorry but I disagree Linus, I don't think it's a "must" to have touchscreen notebooks even now a days, I personally don't find too much use for it unless it converts into a flat tablet form.
