Why do you sometimes only feed it 3/4 of a cup of water and 3 tablespoons of sugar and 3 tablespoons of potato flakes? Does this make a difference in the taste of your bread? Thank you.
I do this if I don’t want to accumulate too much extra because the larger amount of starter you have the more you need to feed it. When I didn’t make bread as often I would feed it less so I wouldn’t have as much starter to feed later. But now I bake so much that sometimes I feed it triple 😅
@@LittleTennesseeHome I’m just starting with the bread making. When I get too much starter, can I take all out but a cup and then feed? Or do I feed first and then take out my cup for my bread and then didscard some extra? I guess I’m not sure when to discard for fear of messing up my starter. Also, when I take my starter out of the fridge, do I feed it when it’s cold? Thank you so much for the info!!!
@@siklizard43 You've got it! take out all but a cup and then feed it! Save the rest in the fridge for other recipes: some great ones are pancakes, muffins, crepes, etc. check out littletennesseehome.com/ for lots of recipes!
