In today's video, I show you guys how I made this trendy houndstooth crochet sweater vest and give you a brief tutorial on how to do it.
Crochet Hook size: 3.5mm

The tightness of your crochet was really satisfying to watch
For anyone wondering how much yarn would be needed for a weight 4 medium worsted. I used about 700 yards of green (my main color) and maybe 600 for my secondary color which was white. I did 21 inches across rather than 22 and I will edit this post when I finish to measure it going up. I would still buy 100 more yards than I’ve said to be safe especially if you plan for yours to be larger. I did 76 rows of the rib stitch crochet to achieve 21 inches across👍🏾 again I will edit to update on how many inches going up I had from the base of my rib stitch to the top of my V neck. One quick update: for the beginning of the v neck I did 6 rows straight from marker to marker before beginning the creation of my V neck last update! So I finished with a final length of 27 top to vertically and 21 horizontally. It was the length of a dress on me (I’m 5,2) so to make it shorter crochet less vertically and do make it fit tighter do less of the ribbing. Keep in mind: your panels are made separate so that will add size. I recommend 14 inches for a medium tbh
Update: I finished a while ago and found it was too large to way for my size. I finished with a large to extra large in my opinion. Or a medium for someone who like baggy clothing. I would use a large crochet hook a 5.5 mm to a 6 mm because the smaller the hook the tighter your stitches which makes it stiffer. Make sure you keep a measuring tape on hand because it will stretch out so chain fewer than you think you’ll need because at the end it’ll most likely be stretched an inch farther

I love how you hold the hook. I only ever crochet "up" if that makes sense. but like holding the hook down seems to be much faster! I'll have to try it.
haha I get what you mean 😅😅give it a go.. I find it easier🌻✨
I think holding the hook up is called the knife method, while holding it down is called the pencil method. I personally prefer the knife method, especially since I'm also trying to get into Tunisia crochet and that's the only way you can do that. However, I'm starting to see a lot of crochet UA-camrs use the pencil method and it looks very fluid.

Oh my goshhh good luck making ittt🌻🌻💕 I used 3 full skeins and a little bit of one more skein of the dark brown..then 2 full skeins and a little bit of one more skein for the beige. Each skein was 198m/218yards.. I hope this makes sense❤✨ remember it also depends on what size you want

Well I used a US size large sweater for reference so maybe use a sweater you like for size reference..
Both the front and the back panels were about 22 inches across and 25 inches from the top to the bottom..I hope this helps❤
