In your defense, when I first heard this song back in the 80's when I bought the cassette I thought it was Flo too for about 10 seconds because I KNEW it wasn't Diane and figured it damn sure wasn't Mary's alto ass, but I was wrong. Look at all the talent that got shoved into the background of the Supremes.
You haven't heard Diane lately. She just can't hit those notes anymore. "sensible" does that make you feel better.Your needing to correct my spelling means you haven't much to say.
@blkshepherd You should have heard Diane back then. She would have been the lsst one a sensable person would have picked, but then you are not a sensable person, just an uppity smartass. This is the type of song that would have crossed over at that time.Mary is a little rough around the edges,,but then what would you know? I remember back then.I like this song.
This is a strong vocal from Mary before she lost her confidence ( In her book she talked about how Berry would criticize her voice) Berry later stated that Mary was talented vocally but he felt that he had to keep her in her place because she had sex appeal.....
@Egypt PrinceT . How was that a dig on Mary Wilson, you weirdo? The person who posted this video labeled it incorrectly. It is not Florence Ballard singing lead. It is indeed a young Mary Wilson. Reading comprehension much?
Egypt PrinceT , I bash her because of the way she acts and sounds since the mid 80's. She is one of the absolute worst singers I've ever heard. Her voice reminds me of a foghorn. $6million to do a reunion tour for 6months and she said no. Really Mary? A lot of real musicians in the industry don't make anywhere near that kind of money. What she didnt realize is that the tour would have boosted her solo career. And it is not about money anyhow. Diana and Mary are both multi-millionaires. It is about the art. Now, because of Mary, there will never be a reunion. She also airs dirty laundry towards the woman and company that allows her to have the luxuriant life she has today....Totally classless and ungrateful cunt.
Diana as a woman in the 1970s was much better of a singer than Mary or Florence. Not talking about her in her private life, just as a musician. Miss Ross is(or was, maybe not so much anymore) a great singer. Its her style , not her power.that makes her great.
@DetroitLives313 No WONDER Berry Put Diane on lead and Left her as Lead. they Would Never had crossed over sounding like this. it sounds like a hundred Unknown singers, singing on the corner or a park..omg..this is Neither American Idol or X factor material.
So, it sounds like You're outnumbered sir. She sounds great to ME TOO, even in this young stage. Her voice flowed better and smoother than Flo Or Diana's. Maybe the work should've been concentrated on Her like Many of the Motown musicians suggested! And. .... .they DID!
Who gives a damn about what white America think lol. This sister voice was beautiful fuck what white people think trust me the time is coming when the original people of this earth will rule again I'm referring to the black people of the earth
Learn how to spell "sensable" what the hell is that? This type of singing would Not have crossed over to Pop. sorry. Berry made the right choice in choosing Diane. The reason Diana is still drawing crowds 50yrs later had nothing to do with her sleeping with Berry. It was and still is her VOICE. Get over it already Florence was good but Diana had the Unique voice that Crossed over and America loved. Love her or Hate her Diana's voice paved the way for the Later Whitney Houston and others.
Who gives a damn about what white America think only white people and whitewash black people when our brothers and sisters crossed over they lost their black sisters and brothers as fans but the time is coming when that bubble gum as music is not gone work
The true strength of her magnificent singing voice is wonderfully on stage in this song. Still love you Flo darlin.
Mary sounds awesome!! Thanks
Mary sounds so beautiful and soulful here.
In your defense, when I first heard this song back in the 80's when I bought the cassette I thought it was Flo too for about 10 seconds because I KNEW it wasn't Diane and figured it damn sure wasn't Mary's alto ass, but I was wrong. Jeffrey Newman- You have to make the correction right away- This is Mary Wilson singing not Florence Ballard!
This is Mary Wilson on lead here.

You haven't heard Diane lately. She just can't hit those notes anymore. "sensible" does that make you feel better.Your needing to correct my spelling means you haven't much to say.

Yes. This is Mary Wilson singing lead.
This is Mary Wilson on lead backed by Florence Ballard, Diana Ross and Barbara Martin.
The poster mistitled this. It is indeed Mary Wilson!
This is a strong vocal from Mary before she lost her confidence ( In her book she talked about how Berry would criticize her voice) Berry later stated that Mary was talented vocally but he felt that he had to keep her in her place because she had sex appeal.....
It can't be Mary Wilson singing that's Florence Ballard singing on the record
It is indeed Mary. Florence was a soprano. tonygreen.com/music/Supremes/lyrics/baby_dont_go.htm
So lame ... picture at 0:37 is of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles 🙄

Thumbs down. This is Mary Wilson on lead vocal, not Florence. Surprise. She had quite the voice in those days
I thought so,too
And yet again a dig at Mary for no reason
@Egypt PrinceT . How was that a dig on Mary Wilson, you weirdo? The person who posted this video labeled it incorrectly. It is not Florence Ballard singing lead. It is indeed a young Mary Wilson. Reading comprehension much?
