Same goes for black cats too. I don't know what is the stigma about animals that are black. I think of them as just creatures like humans have different coloring.

Yes, same for black kitties 🐈⬛😢 When I adopted all my kitties, I always get one black one and any other "hard to adopt " due to age or temperament ect . Everyone always wants to adopt kittens . Kittens will be a cat in about 1yr of age .

What especially got me was when you were getting emotional talking about Flip, Serena immediately came right up and tried to comfort you. She's very empathetic and whoever takes her home is going to be very lucky to have her in their life!

She's in excellent shape. Her coat looks beautiful and she's friendly, if not a little cautious. No collar but very responsive to affection. It's like she was a pet, but something happened; maybe she got free. She's very, very sweet.

Wow. When she hit that high pitched whine, our former shelter pup came running from the other room to see what was the matter. Her need is heart wrenching.
Nobody should EVER say "you should be over it," whether you've lost a parent, child, friend, dog, cat, gerbil, or goldfish! People need to be more sensitive about grief. The main lesson is: everybody handles grief in their own time and in their own way. Love to you and Flip's spirit.

@@rmengelken you're so right. I lost my sweet girl Nikki and it took me a long time before I got another girl, her name is Kate, she is smart, beautiful and so sweet. She's a Belgian Malinois Shepherd. I love her so much!
You’re wise. Grief is an individual experience. Sometimes you just need to be there in body or spirit and be with the sorrowful. Rocky instinctively does this with these vulnerable dogs. We can be there for him, because he’s vulnerable too about Flip.
I lost one dog (my shadow for 14 years) and two bunnies all in the same year and I almost didn't recover. I'm still not over it but it took prob 3-4 years before I stopped crying every single day.
Absolutely. I lost my 4 y.o. nephew 10 years ago in a freak accident. We always have a Remembrance Day every year. It’s on Father’s Day. That’s what my brother wanted and that’s how we support him and family.
They're not just dogs or pets to us who love them. My girl is my friend my companion, part of my family. When she goes I will mourn her just as much as I did my parents. Keep doing what you're doing Rocky, you are amazing

Once you’ve had a soul fur child, it’s never the same. I sit here writing this with tears streaming. While I love my other kids, I miss my space trucking mama, Pebbles, every day. 2 years & 5 months later the loss is still here, but it’s a reminder to cherish the ones I have here with me & to live in the moment with them. Thanks for sharing & loving.

One of the major reasons I’m so scared of getting a dog or cat. I cried when my fish died I don’t know how I could handle losing a dog. Even watching these videos of sad dogs make me cry 😢
@@TheNinjutsuAlchemist we have emotions for a reason. They teach us lessons in life. My heart will heal over my Pebbles, but I will never forget her or be afraid to cry over her loss because that too is healthy

I lost my Gracie girl 4 years ago. She was my nurse when I was fighting cancer. I miss her and am in tears now thinking about her.
Don’t ever feel bad because it’s taking you a long time to get over the loss of Flip. My best friend’s husband had a dog that I’ve never seen a relationship like that between a man and his dog and it took him three years to get over that. I won’t really say he got over the dog, but he was able to get another one finally and, it filled that empty spot that he had for three years.
I’m the same..I just lost my CoCo who looks just like this one…I have to wait a while I’m still grieving but I will get a white small doggie so it doesn’t remind me of my black beauty 😢

If she’s not a year old yet she needs to wait until her joints are fully developed to get spayed. Otherwise she’s going to have a lot of hip pain that will develop when she’s a senior dog. There’s some vets that have been doing research on this and they’ve concluded that the female animals need to have their joints fully developed before spaying. The safest spay is partial ovarian spay. Find a vet that does that.
@@SharlaNelson So, I just looked this up and found nothing about holding off on spaying for bone development. I did however see an article that said maybe you decrease the risk of mammary gland tumors in later years. Most vets still think it’s best to spay female dogs before they leave a pound/rescue situation because many people are ignorant and won’t do it. Too many homeless animals. It’s a tragedy that is preventable.
@@Jean-uw7uk holistic vets do this. My friend here in Texas did partial ovarian spay on her dog. So it’s definitely a thing.

My black cat passed and itvtook me almost two years to be able to speak about him without tearing up. You Rocky are still grieving and its ok. Every time we go thru grief its different. I was able to quickly recover from another cats death but I don't know what I will feel whn my 2 elderly dogs go to the light. They are my kids, my life, my 💜.

I completely understand your heartbreak in losing Flip. I've lost two rescue girls over 20 years, one during the pandemic. I miss them both even though one has been gone 12 years and the other 4 years, it still hurts because of their unconditional love. And you are right, I think it can and does hurt in some cases more than losing a human. My last girl got me through a painful divorce and she was my rock and comfort when I was very sad. I will always remember how she knew I was hurting, and she tried to console me. We are so lucky to have dogs in our lives.
My Reno passed 4 years ago from congestive heart failure and it hurts the same now as it did then. I just try to remember how lucky I was to be the one that got to rescue him.❤
She reminds me so much of my dog. She loves me SO much. If she ever got lost, she’d be terrified in a shelter. But she’s such a sweet dog that I know she could be won over. My baby even looks like her. We live alone.

I love black dogs. I adopted a black Labrador Retriever 8 years ago from my local humane society who had severe heart worms which costed us a lot of money but she is definitely well worth the price. She is 10 years old already. I wish more people would adopt black dogs. They are great pups.

My Flip was named Marie and she was my best friend. The love she gave and I felt for her in return was the best ever. Even after 12 years I still mis her dearly.

I watched another one of your videos before this. It was THIS video that allowed me to release my heartache for this one shelter dog I got attached to. I was gone from the shelter for a week because I was babysitting my grandson. When I got back there, I went looking for him but found out he was euthanized due to stress from being there as a pup. He was only 11 mo old. I kept the tears in and looked for the blessing in this situation. Even though, he wasn't my pet, I loved him! 😢 Thanks Rocky!
I really hope this is a situation of a lost dog and a family desperately searching for their pet. This dog is so sweet, has some recognition of commands which means it has been well treated…oh I hope she is reunited with her family…

We lost Sophie last year. She was part husky. Very sweet. Treat loving. Only barked when threat of danger. Got her from an elderly lady who could not keep her because of health reasons. She is pictured with me in thumb nail. We now have a German long haired pointer from a rescue in Ely Mn. He is under two years old and his name is Wally

Rocky, its been 22 years since I had to put my golden retriever down and my eyes still leak tears, he was the best dog. He was 13, his hips went and congestive heart failure, so that's the reason. Love your videos!

I believe that even pets live on. They have a soul. When our dog died, I was away and it shocked me to know he had passed. Couldn't take that out of my mind and I missed him a lot. He was my sister's dog. One night I dreamt that he appeared very healthy and young and I asked him why he was here because he died, but he show up so happy like trying to tell me he was fine. When he was alive always had a telepathic kind of thing with him, so I believe he visited me because I was feeling sad. So yes, I believe in that 100%. And it's not a coincidence that you received that letter on his birthday. He knows how you feel and he is trying to console you using other people and dogs.
Losing a dog is just as hard as losing a loved one, they are a part of our family ❤️..if you can't love your dog as much as you love your family then maybe having a dog isn't ment for you..
Losing a pet is very similar to losing a human family member. You are such a sweet guy, with a heart of gold and you are among friends. Emotions are a huge release. It's ok to let them show ❤

Awful😩 thanks for spreading the warning. Our shelter is being sued for high kill rate - so it's hard to get authentic help for pets. Rocky gives folks a way to connect. TY

My sweet Emelia passed on October 28, 2021. I still think about her every day. I see her in other dogs I pass on the street. She is always with me, but I miss her snuggles, her silly antics, and the way she looked me lovingly when I kissed her nose.

It's the same for balck cats. My stray feline had 4 kittens in my back garden. I tried to get them adopted, no-one wanted them. So here we are, 6 years later, a cat family of beautiful, black fluffy cats who make my life 10 times better than if I had never kept them. Black cats and dogs are beautiful!
Charie was my baby. I lost my baby the day before my daughter wedding. Her husband was coming day that night, and he called to say Charlie's leg had broken. But I knew something was wrong before we left. I cried all night before I left. We left two weeks before it happened. Anyway, he took him to the vet. He said it was cancer. So now Rain had to go by it himself. The whole time, my daughter was getting married, and it cried. I don't know if I cried because of the wedding or Charlie. All I know is that he is my heart and always will be.
