Never bite the hands that feeds you. You were very lucky to have adoptive parents to love and raised you, imagine if you stayed with your birth dad, your step mom would torture you and that would be another story.
Wow, this lady seems so ungrateful to her adopted parents. Without them, she would not have made it. According to her, her adopted were nice and raised her fairly. If you owe someone money, just pay them. You said it yourself that you borrowed the money. Stop being a deadbeat and pay your debt. I don’t get why you are mad at the parents that took care of you. Your own dad gave you away. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Your step parents are right they borrowed you the money you shouldnt be mad. You who be thankful they borrowed you money. Your husband was right why did you go back to your father that gave u away they clearly didn’t love you. Why don’t you love the ones that took care of you and the siblings that you live with they probably love you more than the ones that gave you away.
I think you were being respectful towards your late parents and didn't completely tell your story sister. Being moved around and finally placed with parents who didn't have any children you finally found your home. But then they had their own kids, that love you felt somehow wasn't the same anymore. They treated their kids better then you...your wedding gifts weren't the same as your sister. When you borrowed 12k in your heart, you must have felt that if it was your sister who borrowed your parents wouldn't expect it back. All these feelings are normal. She said it herself that when she got married they didn't have much thats why she was gifted less. When I got married my parents were in the 30s they had mortgages and they gifted me little but when my sisters married they were done with their mortgages so they gifted them more. I wasn't bitter. She would understand if she was their biological child but she kept using that excuse for every unfair treatment she came across.
Your luck brought them 2 children. They should have at least understood you when you were struggling and couldn’t pay them back. They would have treated their own daughter differently.

Some kids feels entitled. You are not entitled. Your adopted parents lend the money to you. When they need it, they asked for it nicely back. You shouldn't even be mad or upset at them.
